Reviews
The only reason for not giving 5* was we felt the room we stayed in was a little tired for a 5* Hotel standard, and may be due refurbishment. That said, it was cleaned and always refreshed each day for us. Thank you
We also booked a massage in the Spa, which is highly recommended! Thank you to Bertha for her magical hands
Staff amazing. Rooms lovely. Hotel fantastic.
Spoke to a few guests who had been here up to 10 times in the past so it certainly has great appeal. Better entertainment and food would make this place 5* guaranteed
We booked a room which was described to have a side sea view - in reality, we could barely see any of the sea at all as our view was mostly blocked by buildings. However, the room itself was immaculate, well-decorated and perfectly cleaned/restocked every day (great shower too, always a bonus).
The pool areas were classy and not overcrowded (at no time of day were we unable to find a sunbed). Poolside bars were well-stocked and served a good variety of drinks and snacks.
Entertainment was typical of a summer resort holiday - nothing special, but created a nice atmosphere in the evenings. There were a limited number of activities on every day, easily accessible through the neat hotel app.
The buffet generally had a good variety of food, including a variety of vegan options (although it was occasionally not clear which options were which in terms of vegetarian and allergen signage) although breakfasts were a bit underwhelming and a couple of the nights weren't great in terms of quality.
Overall, our stay was relaxing and enjoyable and the hotel had plenty to offer, with just one or two small things leaving this short of a perfect experience.
All inclusive is probably a must, and the only minor disappointment was that although the vegan options here are great, they aren't always available during evening service in the buffet restaurant.
The app works mostly well, allowing you book food and experience but some work could be done on keeping the app up to date as one day it told us about free kayaking (which is a nice little bonus on a small pond) but the event wasn't actually happening that day.
Food is good, and fairly typical of an all inclusive resort with so many options from grilled meat to salads to pizza to nightly themed main courses such as tacos, curries or stir frys.
Evening entertainment is very typical of this kind of place, pretty fun free shows which the kids especially seemed to enjoy.
Pools are smallish but there are a few to pick from - only heated option is adults only but that doesn't really matter in high season. One improvement would be if there was a larger or deeper option as they were all only max 1.6m deep and didn't facilitate games or jumping/diving. Although you're made to read a disclaimer saying no sunbed reserving with your towels, this was really rife and pretty silly. Multiple times we arrived at the pool at 10am (opening time apparently), only a couple of people in the pool but almost all of the 100+ sunbeds apparently unclaimed.
This issue wasn't enough to dent our great week though. Shout out to the bar staff who kindly listened to our mediocre at best Spanish.
The key points for myself as a couple attending, Royal Level All inclusive is a must. Being treated like royalty, having champagne in a bucket of ice upon arrival was superb! All drinks were included, including premium drinks like grey goose. Normal all inclusive and all inclusive+ are somewhat limited to what they get.
The main differences I noticed as a royal level is the difference in enhanced treatment from staff, pool side drink service, restricted areas and a specific restaurant for menu ordered food vs the All inclusive buffet.
There were specific staff I’d like to applaud for their high customer service abilities; Orlando, Samantha, Hayley, Jose Ramon.
Barcelo Tenerife offers a free well thought out courtesy lounge for persons in there resort flying out later than the check out time. Having showers, toilets, hair dryers, multiple couches, to relax in.
The few downsides I noticed were, smoking was very apparent on the resort with no real restrictions on where to smoke. There is no Royal Level bar, making getting drinks after 8pm more congested. Beach Towels as a non royal level required attending the shop or reception daily to exchange for new ones, vs the royal level picking up beach towels from the restricted royal level pool.
Laundry services were available, which is a relief if you go through your wardrobe quicker.
Overall, brilliant value for money. Great food, excellent service. A perfect resort to not need to leave and enjoy the sun and swim, with a drink.
