Reviews
Bad- beds are uncomfortable and thetwin beds had been put togther and we requested a double on our stay, asked to get more sunbeds out as there wasn’t many near the pool and got told no but there was plenty up on top of the hotel staff didn’t smile or speak English, had to pay a tourist tax as it was the first time I’ve heard you had to pay for it, said on their policies you can request a late check out and when I’ve asked it was very rude on the reply I got, my balcony when I go out I don’t see a view expect another hotel and the bins, we even had to put are drinks in the bath and fill it up with cold water as it doesn’t provide for a fridge and should provide on during the hot summer weather, when showering as well the water goes everywhere and leaves the floor soaking with water and having to use our clean towels to soak up the water from the floor and when even running bath the plug doesn’t even work and just empty as you finished running the bath. There was only 4 umbrellas in the pool area which isn’t enough for people and couldn’t get any shade at all. Even the menu is very overpriced and it just standard hotel food you can get. Also when going to the pool you not able to get a sun lounger due to people that do not stay at the hotel just stroll in and use the hotel facilities when you get people who actually pay money to be away and don’t even get to use the facilities. For breakfast was pretty standard but not much to pick from as it was the same stuff everyday and I got sick of it by day 3, the hot plates for breakfast only had the same 5 options everyday. On my second last day I requested a late checkout due to my flight was a late one and so I can get freshen up and that instead of sweating from the heat as it was 40 degrees, when I asked for a late check out it was a very rude reply and shouted NO at me and telling me they were fully booked but fair enough of being fully booked but there is a way of speaking to people and that not how to speak to me. When walking in the the hotel there is no air conditioning which we had to sit for 6 hours with our cases due to not having a room for our cases and we were sweating and disgusting for the flights.
Rooms were really clean, the balcony view was amazing. Housekeeping lady Elena provided a 5 star experience and even managed to fold nicely all my clothes that were all over the room without even asking her for such things. Great customer skills provided by Nick and Elena, made our stay feel like 5 star!
Swimming pool was very clean and looked after and next to it was the hotel bar where the drinks and food was very well priced. Breakfast was not bad (like most 3-4 star hotels).
Beach and restaurants were 3 min walking distance away. The hotel location is great!
The only thing that can be improved is the day shift team at reception only spoke Spanish and the communication with them was difficult for foreign guests (English and German).
The breakfast buffet was tasty and sufficient with both warm and cold sections. Fresh fruit and vegetables were also there, muesli, freshly baked sweet pasteries, coffee/tea... They mixed it up every few days and brought out something different so that everyone could find things they like.
The hotel itself is a bit older and perhaps ripe for a renovation with better sound insulation but the rooms are functional and clean. One can see they try hard to keep everything well maintained and in check.
Nice cleaning lady came every day, brought new clean towels, wiped the floor and emptied the trash bin. Everything was always spotless and smelled fresh when we came back from the beach. The room safe came in handy and was free of charge. Wifi signal was strong in our room. Can't say anything about the TV since we didn't even turn it on once during our stay. Air con was weak but we didn't really need it since the weather was perfect and the nights were cool enough to sleep nicely without it.
Balcony with a little sea view was also a plus.
The only downside, maybe for some, would be the lack of a refrigerator but it wasn't that big of a problem for us since there is a supermarket close by.
Again can't really say much about the pool since we didn't use it but it did seem inviting and wasn't very crowded, at least not in early October.
All in all we had a really good time here and would gladly come back again.
Street View actually quite nice as get the oll but again non sound proof...
24hr front desk ,
Only down side was. they have this huge bar area which was not open (November time) kinda a shame as the hotel itself was almost full and they could have taken advantage of guests using this instead of guests trying to find a place open in town , the breakfast was excellent and it worked well going across the road to enjoy it with sea views . The pool was clean and inviting but the weather was not hot enough to enjoy it
Staff friendly, polite and helpful
Experience at Playas del Rey
Dear Playas del Rey Management,
I hope this message finds you well. I recently dined at your establishment with my partner and I feel compelled to share my experience. While I had heard positive reviews about your restaurant, I must regrettably report that our visit on September 06/2023 left us highly dissatisfied.
First and foremost, there was a discrepancy in the pricing of the desserts we ordered. The menu clearly stated that the desserts were priced at €5 each, but when we received the bill, we were charged €7 for each dessert. This inconsistency was disappointing and gave us the impression of misleading pricing practices.
Moreover, the service we received from the attendant left much to be desired. They appeared disinterested and inattentive throughout our meal, making us feel unwelcome and undervalued as customers. We believe that attentive and courteous service is an integral part of the dining experience, and this aspect was severely lacking during our visit.
As for the desserts themselves, they were a complete deception. We had high hopes for a delightful sweet ending to our meal, but what arrived at our table did not live up to our expectations. The presentation was lackluster, and the taste was far from the quality we anticipated based on the menu description.
I believe constructive feedback is essential for any business to thrive, and I hope that my review can help you address these issues. We were genuinely disappointed with our experience at [Restaurant Name], and it falls short of the standards we expect from a reputable establishment.
I encourage you to review your pricing transparency, improve the quality of service, and pay close attention to the consistency of your culinary offerings. This will not only retain loyal customers like myself but also attract new patrons to your restaurant.
I sincerely hope that you take this feedback into consideration and work towards enhancing the overall dining experience at Playas del Rey. We had hoped for a memorable evening, but unfortunately, our visit left us with a bitter taste.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
