Hotel Años 50

Tourists be aware - especially if you’ve booked through booking.com or a similar site. Once you’ve booked and entered your payment details, the hotel will decline your payment and say that you will need to use another card. When you use another card, they will do the same again, but they will ensure that they do just prior to your arrival, in which they were also cancel your reservation. When you arrive at the hotel not knowing that they have cancelled your booking, they will tell you that your room is no longer available at that price; however, they are now available at a price of 150€ more. Unfortunately some people will fall for this scam, myself and my father on the other hand politely told the unprofessional and arrogant individual sat behind the desk where to go.

Disgusting scam.
We booked a room through booking.com. The day before our booking, they supposedly tried twice to take payment and claimed the card was declined- it wasn’t, it paid for other accommodation and car hire the same day. Still, we changed to my partner’s card and they didn’t even attempt to take payment. My partner rang on the morning of our departure and was told it’s ok, we can pay on arrival.

We later arrived, after midnight, to be told the booking was cancelled as they couldn’t take payment. I checked booking.com and they had cancelled it less than 3 hours earlier, whilst we were flying! “Fortunately” they had a room, but it was €30 more. I refused as we had given them an alternative card and they hadn’t even tried it. They said they couldn’t because it wasn’t in my name, which was nowhere in their or booking.com’s policies and we often use my partner’s card on my account. And why not notify us of that before cancelling the booking or when we called them, even if it were a real policy?

Unfortunately I lost the stand off as it was midnight and we were tired from travelling, so we grudgingly accepted the “premium” room.

The room was horrible. The jacuzzi was dirty, the window (which faced into an alleyway of bins, ground floor) didn’t close, the bathroom stank of damp, the pillow cases were stained, the upstairs jacuzzi that was on 1-3am was so loud I could hear it through earplugs and to top it all off at 5.30am so much water came pouring through the ceiling that we could have had a shower under it (it would possibly have been more pleasant than the actual shower).

We complained about the window straight away and the guy on reception “kindly”gave us 2 500ml bottles of water… which probably redeemed us about €4.
We complained the next morning about the water coming through the ceiling. The guy on reception didn’t offer any refund or explanation. We couldn’t be bothered complaining about the rest - we just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible.

My partner keeps trying to call for a refund and being fobbed off “you’ll have to call back later” etc.

Worst hotel experience of my life.

I dont know if It was guests at the bar or people who worked at the hotel but there was people arguing from 10pm - 4am. And people shouting and talking even outside my room so it didn’t seem like anyone cared about guests sleep time or comfort. I head earbuds that canceled out sound so I was able to sleep a little bit but I don’t recommend this hotel if you’re wanting peace at night or a good sleep before your flight. Other than that, the guy at the desk was kind, it was good for me as I only stayed one night and didn’t need much. If you’re a solo travel and just need a bed it’s good for that! Just bring ear plugs :)

Don't come here for shisha at all!

The charged me €50 for 1 shisha!!!!
