Superb visit on this our 16th stay. Allocated a room on 7th floor, amazing. Had a problem with a bad smell in the bathroom but this did not spoil our overall enjoyment of a superb hotel room. Breakfast fantastic as always. Look forward to going back.

This was my second year staying at MedPlaya Pez Espada Hotel, and once again it exceeded our expectations. The beachfront location is unbeatable, with beautiful sea views and direct access to the beach, which is one of the main reasons we chose to return. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and very well maintained, with daily housekeeping. The staff were friendly, professional, and always welcoming, making us feel at home throughout our stay. I would especially like to thank Maribel, the hotel owner, who helped a great deal in making our stay as wonderful as we had hoped for. Her care, attention, and kindness truly made a difference and added a personal touch to our experience. The food was delicious and varied, especially at breakfast and dinner. A special thank you as well to the waiters and chefs for their hard work and dedication. Their effort, professionalism, and attention to detail were clearly reflected in the quality of service and the delicious food throughout our stay. Coming back for a second year truly says it all. Highly recommended, and we will definitely return again and again.

For many years I have wanted to stay at the Pez Espada and this year I fulfilled my wish. The Pez Espada is located on the main promenade between Torremolinos and Benalmadena and both can be reached easily. My room was located on the 4th floor and had a small balcony that overlooked a car park. However you could see the sea and was really quite quiet. It may have been nosier at the height of summer but I was not disturbed. The room had a kettle with tea and coffee supplies which were replenished every day. There was a small fridge with 2 complimentary bottles of water. There was also a small safe. There was no additional charge for any of these. WI-FI is available throughout the hotel. My room had 2 large comfortable beds, a wardrobe with plenty of space, bedside cabinets with drawers and a desk with a chair. There was also a TV with a selection of English channels, telephone and air conditioning. The bathroom was accessed via a sliding door and contained a shower but no bathtub. There was plenty of hot water. My only issue with the room was it was located at the end of the corridor so there was no window. The only natural light came through the small balcony door so the room was a little bit dark. I had the half board option and to be honest I think I would have been better off going for bed and breakfast only. The dining room is accessed down a sweeping staircase or a small lift. You choose your own seat and are not restricted to the same table. The breakfast is brilliant! There was literally everything you could imagine for breakfast...hot food, cereals, yoghurts, pancakes, pastries, cold meats and cheeses. Hot drinks are available via machines and fruit juices are also available. Personally I am a bit of a fussy eater so I was a bit disappointed with the evening meals. There was vegetarian options, salad bar, fish, meats and, thankfully for me, pasta. Everything I had was certainly tasty and was always hot. Desserts are fantastic! If you want a drink with your meal these are available...you pay for them immediately at the table. The Pez Espada also has snack bars. One is by the pool and the other is on the terrace with lovely views. Both of these are very reasonably priced. For sun worshippers there are gardens front and back with plenty of beds. The grounds are home to the pools. The main pool is between the two main buildings of the hotel and there is a children's pool which is reached by going up a few steps. The hotel also has a gym. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. I had a small issue with my electrics and it was sorted immediately...I was very impressed. It is certainly obvious why the Pez Espada was a favourite of royalty and the rich and famous...it is absolutely fantastic. Comfortable, clean and ideally placed. I hope this will be the start of a beautiful friendship.

Perfect location beach restaurant opposite the hotel had great food service location at a good price with excellent seafood! The hotel was excellent it suited our needs 3 friends we had the beach front junior suite which accommodated us well with fabulous views across the seafront! The hotel restaurant was busy at times serving good with plenty of choice you wouldn’t go hungry! We had a great time and will visit again! We also had access to Gold lounge offering tea coffee soft drinks and snacks which included

We had an excellent experience thanks to the wonderful service of Ladia. She always took great care of us, was extremely kind, and served us with a smile. She goes out of her way to help and makes us feel truly welcome every time. One of the reasons we love visiting the hotel restaurant is because of her outstanding service. Ladia is one of the kindest staff members we have ever met and truly deserves all the appreciation. In addition, the food is always delicious, and I especially love my favorite cappuccino. Not a 4* hotel based on classic rooms. Needed to be moved rooms due to no electricity in room. 2nd room same issue then rectified. Same evening on coming to use shower, shower head was dangerously hanging from wall. Rectified by maintenance. Shower very mouldy and room needed an update. Public area nice and breakfast was fine.Hotel staff not really bothered and bar staff took ages to take drinks order. Location was excellent with lots of restaurants and beach bars . Go to side street for some good places to eat.

Great hotel - after reading some reviews prior to coming I was skeptical but I'm glad I only have good things to say about the Hotel. The room was modern and cleaned to a high standard everyday. We had half board which was definitely worth it, the food is on the higher end than what I've had at hotel buffets before - lots of freshly cooked meats and fishes each day and good quality meat and vegetable options. The breakfast is good, my only criticism would be to have more than one person making fried eggs as the queue can get quite long. The pool area was great, it's in the sun all day with service at your sun bed for drinks which was good and a food van to buy snacks throughout the day. The location is perfect, across the road from the beach and Benalmadena just a 15/20 minute walk down the beach front. We didn't struggle for things to do there's lots of options for entertainment and food. I would definitely return.

Here is a realistic review from my personal point of view. I’ve been coming to the Pez Espada almost every year since 2016 and it’s always a wonderful experience. The sea views are incredible. The hotel is very well located in La Carihuela, close to Benalmádena. The restaurant service and staff are excellent – I could honestly thank them one by one if I knew all their names. A special mention goes to Mme Maribel Sanjuan, who helped me and my family of three book an excellent room. Breakfast and dinner are always delicious with plenty of variety. The animation is really good for both children and adults, and the hotel often brings great musicians – one band in particular was absolutely incredible.

If I could recommend a couple of improvements, it would be for the gym, which needs more equipment and modern machines, and the ping-pong area, as the table is smaller than normal and the rackets could be of better quality.

⭐ Rating: 5/5 – Incredible views, amazing food, great entertainment, and outstanding staff. That’s why I keep coming back year after year.

Great 1950's original luxury hotel, you can sense the glamour from when the stars used to visit (who's photos now adorn the main public spaces). Quiet and comfortable with a fantastic location, right next to the beach, and within in easy walking distance of many restaurants and bars. All in we had a fantastic stay here, very relaxing.

After reading the reviews I can see most are first timers. I have stayed here over the years and can see the hotel has changed. If you're a solo traveller, be aware of the situation of the bedrooms. No luxury, overlooking a roof of bird excrement. A lot less choice of food and restaurant like a canteen. Burger van, why? The elegance has gone. Staff are friendly, but reception staff can appear unfriendly.
