Great hotel, no complaints really. The staff moved their cars out of the parking lot to accommodate ours as the garage was still under construction. Very comfortable, clean and well appointed rooms. As the area around the hotel is developing, I would definitely stay at this hotel in the city. Also the cocktails in the wine bar and the bar itself are great, highly recommended.

It is an experience. A new hotel with all the gizmos you can get in a hotel room, at an old prison. You would have expected a depressing experience, but they have created excellent rooms and kept the history of the place everywhere else. Great job!

I stayed for four nights in the hotel in a standard room. The room was very well-equipped, offering all comforts and impeccable cleanliness. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very varied, plentiful, and delicious. The restaurant's menu isn't extensive but is sufficient and of high quality, making it suitable for dining for four evenings. The hotel's location is well-situated, not far from the city center. Scooters and bikes are available, making short trips very convenient.

We stayed at the annex during the summer. The room was small but cozy and had only one roof window that let in some light, but not much could be viewed from it.
Plus
* Big bathroom, nice shower and shower gels.
* Coffee machine and water carbonator in the room.
* Usb and wall sockets next to bed.
* Pretty diverse breakfast and good time-span for the breakfast some food allergy choises that were clearly marked.
Minus
* Lighting and air condition system was hard to understand. Room was very hot and a bit humid. It was hard to get the temperature down. I suspect the heat from the lower levels travels up into the annex and is not handeled correctly. The air condition did not make the temperature or humidity go down even on max setting, it just made more noise. Impossible to have it on when sleeping.
* Not many options were left at the breakfast when we arrived an hour before its closing and it did not seem to be refilled. At least on the weekdays. On the week-end it seemed to be supplied a bit better.
* Parking is a bit expensive. You get a 5€ discount by staying at the hotel, but still 15€ per day. The rooms are a bit pricy so I would prefer the parking to be included for the guests.

An old prison turned into a boutique hotel. A lot could have gone wrong but absolutely nothing did. Perfect balance between old and new, harsh prison environment and modern luxuries. The most attentive staff was a real crown jewel. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, this is something you want to experience!

A hotel with personality! Nicely managed to keep up the atmosphere of the former prison with small details that are seen everywhere you look. Great material choices and their prison-themed patterns.

Worst hotel experience and customer service of my life. Two weeks after our stay, the hotel lifted close to 2,000 EUROS of my credit card. It took months for them to admit the error and return the money - and only after I'd involved the fraud unit of my bank and provided Kakola with the same information on the transaction over and over again. Stay away, if possible at all.

Everything about the hotel was perfect. We had booked a staycation package that included spa access, 3-course dinner at the Restaurant Ruben and the room. We celebrated a birthday and the staff surprised us with sparkling wine and chocolate and a hand-written card. The room was very spacious and well equipped. All in all, they've done a great job with keeping some prison/historical elements but made it all very stylish. Very good isolation as well, it was so quiet in the room! Would definitely recommend! Just unsure of whether I would personally like the cell rooms but the normal ones are awesome.
