The hotel is very well located and the bed for a third person in a room with two other people has a good mattress. The staff is very gentle and polite, from the receptionist to the kitchen staff. I would just add that the hotel needs to have room service at least, even thought the hotel is located near Monoprix and some restaurants, having room service is kind of important.

I must say this is a great location. If you’re going to explore the city the hotel was very well-maintained. The room we ended up in was a very nice room towels were nice. All the amenities were good. Had to call down and ask for body lotion and so forth The only problem we had is when we checked in the room we had had an old bathtub very high which because my husband‘s a veteran and has hip issues could not manage we went down to the receptionist. She was not that overly helpful but if we gave her another €10 a night she would move us to a room with a walk-in, which we did. but I really felt they should’ve upgraded us because of this issue with no any extra cost, We had some issues with the cost,of breakfast what it said on the website, but that was taken care of. I must say that the one person that was very helpful in the hotel was Aurniel ( not sure of spelling )

The taxis are very expensive in this city so make sure you check out the buses if you’re coming in from the train they have no taxis outside so you must call

The literal BEST best western I’ve ever stayed at! Staff were incredibly warm and welcoming and always were accommodating. Rooms were incredibly comfortable and extremely quiet at night. The staff are incredibly dedicated to making sure everything is clean and spotless at all times. Would 100% stay here again.

In the course of driving to several places outside of Paris, Caen was the first place to stay. I was enchanted with both Caen and the hotel Moderne.
Room was small but it is better than Hyatt in Paris. It is like designer’s choice.
Most of all, breakfast is the best ever in traveling in France, among 6 cities.
Best taste, best ingredients.
And hoteliers in Moderne are so kindly and professional.
Indigo parking lot nearby the hotel was good It was completely safe and reasonably cheap.
I would like to visit Moderne again.

Everything was simply perfect. Starting from the reservation way before we arrived I contacted the hotel to ask about parking and they supplied exact and very easy explanation to get to the hotel parking which they reserved a spot for me (highly convenient). The staff at the reception were very informative and pleasant. They were eager to give us explanations about what there is to do in the city and also where to go eat (we didn't book breakfast at the hotel).
The hotel is located right in the center but yet at a very quiet spot and within walking distance from every touristic site.
The rooms were very comfortable and clean.
Overall perfect stay, too bad we could stay for only one night. Definitely coming back :)

Warm and upscale welcome. In addition, the entire team is friendly, both at the reception and on the floors. An ideal location for sightseeing and shopping, as well as for motorhome enthusiasts. Superb design and perfect comfort. 10 out of 10 🙂

Very nice small hotel, breakfast room looked great, but we didn't go for breakfast. Parking limited. Bed comfortable, room very clean and well taken care of. Great location, centre of Caen, close to castle, churches, etc. Sunday market nearby was excellent and massive. Staff helpful and knowledgeable. Loads of restaurants, brasseries, patisseries, etc., within very short walk.

Avoid this place all together. The hotel was supposed to have available parking and breakfast included in the rate. They told us we had to look for public parking instead where we had to pay ourselves. We had to change our keys twice, then were moved to another floor altogether because the keys would not work. Upon check out, they charged us $72 for breakfast even though the person who checked us in assured us it was included in the rate. The front desk person, Sarah insisted she “knew her hotel” because she was the chief of reception - more like the thief of reception. She was not helpful AT ALL!!!! Overall, an unpleasant stay. AVOID!
