Mercure Caen Centre Port De Plaisance

We stayed one night and wish we could have stayed longer. Friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfast, comfy bed, spacious and clean room. Highly recommended.

My wife and I stayed here (visiting from the U.S.) for the D-Day 80th anniversary week and absolutely loved it! This hotel is in a perfect location in Caen’s city center, across from the harbor and within walking distance to countless restaurants, cafés, and Brasseries as well as lots of shopping and historic sites. Easy walking to Caen Castle, The Abbey of Sainte-Trinitie, L'Abbaye-aux-Hommes, and many other beautiful sites around town.

Our room was a suite with a king bed and separate small living area with a couch & table, very clean and comfortable. But our best impressions came from the amazing front desk staff. Kelsey, Amy and Emma in particular were always genuinely interested in how our stay was going and went out of their way to answer any questions we had (excellent English and French speaking). There were other employees who were great as well (sorry, didn't document their names). Our bags were delayed from our flights for several days and they all truly cared and wanted to help us get them asap. They regularly updated us each morning and afternoon as we walked by, as if they were all ‘pulling for us’ to get them quickly. Emma even helped me call the bag currier, speaking French, to determine a delivery date/time and tried to expedite the process with them. Kelsey offered shopping suggestions and directions for us to buy clothes. When my bag finally arrived (6 days late), the staff had taken it to my room for me and they showed sincere happiness for its arrival.

Overall, this is a fantastic property and we will most definitely stay here again! Highly recommend.

We had a fantastic experience here. This hotel was reasonable, clean, and very nice inside and out. The rooms were spacious and all of the staff was very friendly and helpful. This hotel is centrally located near the center of Caen, in easy walking distance to the downtown and a number of sites worth visiting. I'd surely stay here again.

A great location with a great staff that speaks excellent English (and American, ha)... good breakfast, clean rooms... loved it! If there's two things to improve... offer food options for your foreign guests every day of the week, and train your bar staff to be more polite.

Really nice 4* hotel. The rooms are modern and well maintained. The staff are friendly and speak good English. The hotel is perfectly placed to enable you to walk around Caen and visit many of it's wonderful sites. The Castle is well worth a visit. Plenty of shops and café to have coffee and food. Beer can be expensive £9 a pint depending how close you are to the centre.

As always with this hotel, a warm welcome and felt expected and an individual. Welcome drink token provided without having to ask. Bedroom was spacious with lots of power points. Bar now providing food on certain evenings although I did not make use of this service. I feel that I would not have been comfortable on the seats provided if I were eating. Breakfast was once again very copious with lots of choice. 09.30 finish time during the week felt a little rushed! My main grumble is with the car parking charges. I appreciate it is a spacious underground car park with easy access to the hotel but at 14 euros per night I felt a little peeved. However, the hotel is very well situated in the city centre and a public car park would probably have cost me more!! I enjoyed my stay and will definitely return. Merci beaucoup

We arrived late at night, after midnight, and the front desk attendant was very friendly in directing us where to park our vehicle. The room was clean, spacious, and as described. On Sunday mornings, the city hosts a market about 20 steps away from the main entrance. Well-located hotel with beautiful rooms and helpful staff.
