- Even with the extra map the hotel provides, it's a bit of a search to reach the hotel by car. Be sure to request an additional map when you leave (they have them at reception), because we wouldn't have known the exit route otherwise.
- The hotel itself is fairly basic, but very good value for money.
- We liked: The cleanliness of the rooms and the property, the location in the city center (not even a one-minute walk to the cathedral), the views from our room, the parking ground.
- We had some trouble with: The person behind the reception desk seemed very uninterested and annoyed. The breakfast was fine and there were plenty of choices, but everything could've just been a bit more refined (salami was very thickly sliced, bread was a bit hard,.. small things like these). But all in all it's fine for the price you pay.
- Just an FYI (since our son is lactose intolerant and I always appreciate finding these tips myself): No lactose free alternatives available at breakfast.

If you are looking for a peaceful perfectly located place to stay in the centre of Chartres this is it. Just a few minutes walk from the cathedral.

A brilliant place to stay if you want to visit the cathedral and the old gown .Only a few minutes walk to the cathedral from the hotel .Lovely. staff and good breakfast, rooms are basic but have good beds ,linen and walk in shower rooms. For the price it is brilliant and also has free car parking .

For over 25 years, I keep coming back! Spotless, great beds, linens, best location ever and SO QUIET! Its simple character is clearly stated and reflected in the price. Great petit déjeuner. Covers all basics 5*. NOTE: Book ahead, 72 hour cancel policy, And get access code for their private (free) parking as it’s in the pedestrian zone. Views are awesome.

This is a great location in central Chartes for getting around. The rooms are very basic, but they do make that clear. The main problems are there's no air conditioning, and also the shutters are on the inside of the rooms, meaning you cannot shutter out the light without closing the window, making sleeping the heat difficult. Payment was also confusing, with somethings being payed up front, but then a bunch of costs added on at the end.

I really liked this hotel. It's in the middle of town, two minutes walk from the cathedral, and the views are outstanding. The room was clean and the continental breakfast was above average.
There were three small issues. As other folks have mentioned, it can be difficult to find. I parked at the base of the hill, walked up (maybe a kilometer, maybe not quite that much) and got a map from the front desk. Then it was easy to follow the map.
The second issue is that there was no television in the room. I wouldn't have watched it anyway, but if you're either French or looking to practice the language by watching TV it might be an issue.
The third issue is that parking was quite tight the night I arrived. It wasn't bad after that, though.

A very strange experience to say the least! Some would find this hotel amazing, others would hate it! A real 'marmite' experience... sadly we found it really awful in some ways... We arrived in the afternoon and checked in. Went up to our room on the 3rd floor. Looked very basic with a very high up window impossible to see out of or open - very basic single beds, no TV or any lounge to relax in. Oh well - it got hotter and hotter in the room (it was August and scorching outside) and we did try to call at Reception before they were due ro close at 8pm... but... it was locked and nobody around... We had a nice meal in a nearby restaurant. 5 stars for the place - and on return the room was even hotter and stuffier. We suffered a sleepless night with no air and no way to get jigh enough to open the window. Relieved to get out in the open air at 6am to breathe again! Breakfast was OK and we were relieved to be on our way South aftwr collecting our overnight things. This place may well appeal to some as it is so quaint and different - but we'd have given anything for an open window and a desk fan to make it at least bearable.

Budget accommodations very close to the center of old town Chartres. Comfortable but spartan. The reason I rated it two stars was that my key was deactivated and there is no one, absolutely no one, working here or monitoring the property. I had to wait outside in the rain, locked out, until my friend luckily reached someone who came and let me in. Kinda scary as there is no help or security. I wish I would have picked somewhere else to stay. If you can afford a nicer room I would recommend you stay elsewhere.

Location closed to main attractions, room very basic but clean, parking available in hotel's courtyard, nice view over the city. HOWEVER: the lady at the reception was not friendly at check in; moreover she didn't mention the closed gate at night and how to enter, so we spent some time in the cold, until figuring out by ourselves how to open the gate door. Next morning, the lady serving and cleaning the breakfast room very rudely shouted at a guest and made her put the food she took back in the tray. Then, she came to me, while I was eating, and started to shout at me in French for a good 2 minutes, despite the fact I told her I don't know French and cannot understand what she wants. She might have been mad because I took a photo with the breakfast buffet, but the simple fact that an employee is allowed to shout at a guests is a good indication on how valued customers are in this hotel. Last not least, breakfast was very basic, with lots of foods constantly missing (juice, bread etc) because they brought only small quantities of each, that were quickly taken by guests. In short, a bitter sweet experience.
