Novotel Montpellier

Hotel facilities is worn down. Fridge not working. Air conditioning cannot go below 25 degrees Celsius. I asked if they could fix it and they did nothing.the room can't go dark because there is a very bright lamp just outside the room and there is holes in the blackout curtain. Nice reception and a good pool but that's is about it.

The hotel is dingy and dated, stains all over the carpet in the main entryway and at first glance, if it would have been possible, we would have changed hotels. There was a funny announcement at the check in desk, asking for patrons to be patient and kind with the staff as they appeared to be missing personnel. The man who checked us in was nice. The room was not. The air-conditioner would not cool the room and we had a sleepless, frustrating night roasting in our bed. The furnishings in the room mirrored that of the hotel..depressing, worn out, and in need of updating. There was ONE PLUG in the entire room. I was not even going to write this review because it is clear that this hotel has been left behind - it did not look or feel like the other NOVATELs we’ve stayed at. The entire property including the exterior of the building needs care and a ‘relooking.’ THIS REVIEW IS BEING WRITTEN BECAUSE THE RESTAURANT IS EXCEPTIONAL. OUR MEAL, INCLUDING A WONDERFUL LOCAL BOTTLE OF WINE, RECOMMENDED BY OUR SERVER PUMARINO RUBEN, WAS DELIGHTFUL. OUR TIME SPENT WITH HIM WAS FUN AND ENJOYABLE. THANK YOU MR. RUBEN FOR YOUR GRACIOUS HOSPITALITY AND FOR SHARING YOUR LOCAL KNOWLEDGE WITH US. OUR DINNER WAS THE BEST PART OF OUR STAY!

We stayed here for one night as a stopover until we reached our final destination. To say the place is run down is an understatement. The place is very grubby, old fashioned,rotten carpets and the rooms are super small. The smoke detector in our room was covered with a dirty sock and plastic bag which my partner had to remove and there were cigarette buds on the windowsill outside - so disgusting. As well as this the secondary lock to the bedroom door was broken so neither of us slept a wink. Positives: we had breakfast the next morning which was nice. The staff in the hotel were very very friendly. (we did not use the swimming pool facilities) I would not stay here again unless the hotel goes under a massive revamp.
