Hotel Oceania Le Metropole

I stayed here for two days, and my wallet went missing in the room of this four-star hotel. I have already sent an email to the hotel’s official address seeking assistance. Please respond as soon as possible. Thank you!

Apart from the lost item, the staff and the environment are excellent. However, I have no choice but to leave a negative review to seek help and warn others to be cautious.

Not in a very nice location, rooms tired and need updating. Cleanliness is an issue, we found the previous guests underwear left behind our towel rail which was disgusting and shows how often they clean. Staff weren't very helpful, disinterested and verged on rude

We booked the wrong night which was our mistake, but then paid a very expensive rate for the day after. When we arrived at midday I was not allowed to access the room we had paid for the night before, as they had given it to someone else. You cannot take my money for the room and not let me use, you either have to refund me or give me access to the room. This ruined our plans of going to the beach sadly. For some reason we were also mistakenly charged 50euros extra for breakfast, we said multiple times we did not have or want it.
On top of this the hotel is close to the centre but on a not very nice road. Cleanliness is an issue, our room had leftover underwear behind the towel rail (picture attached)
The hotel beds were big and reasonably comfy. The hotel decor is ok but a little dated. The gym/fitness suite was tiny and not worth bothering with. The pool was also much smaller than our expectations.

This Hotel is very nice but!
I sort of wondered if anyone worked there?
On arrival at 15.00 on Friday, the young receptionist seemed confused as our rooms were not ready, but we only had to wait a short time.
We were 3 guests which included 2 elderly ladies one with a walking stick
Parking in the garage under the Hotel was perfect, but when I asked for help with baggage, I was asked why!,
I requested a trolley, and then I asked another young woman if there was a trolley or someone could help, fortunately she seemed to know and helped me
At 17.30, we went to the bar but no one was there, eventually the chef came to serve drinks, by that time we decided to go for a walk.
Dinner was very good, service and menu excellent.

Our 1st morning breakfast, a buffet, was very good but only one young man attending to the room, Only one staff.
Next morning a disaster!, we arrived for breakfast, a large group had been in before , the tables were at mess, none set up and above all, the buffet, nothing left, we felt for the young man, again only one staff, he was trying clean up the tables, along with other guests, we complained to the receptionist offered us the breakfast for free.

The day receptionist, Quentin, was very helpful, but also felt for him having to field off so many complaints.
The night receptionist, Guillaume also was very helpful.
I could not recommend this Hotel at all, It seemed to me the staff had to cope with bad management , not enough staff.
