Sentido Asterias Beach Resort

This hotel would be a fantastic 3*, a good 4* but is unfortunately not a 5*. We understand the hotel has recently undergone new management, and unfortunately we feel this is quite obvious and there are lacking points. Food - the food was unfortunately not up to 5* standard. We saw many reviews saying there was a wide variety, which was not our experience. Food was reused between lunch and dinner, we even saw the previous nights Brussels sprouts at breakfast! With the heat we experienced, the salad was never fresh. The food was also repeated on each side of the serving table, we felt this was a wasted opportunity for more variety. The meat was often dry and tasteless or covered in an indistinguishable sauce. And the desserts were never labeled. Although we were aware the hotel only provides 1 bottle of water per stay, we feel it’s worth mentioning we don’t feel this fits a 5* experience. With the extreme heatwave it would also have been a nice touch to leave another bottle. Although water stations are plentiful and the bar staff will happily give you ice for your flasks. Entertainment was okay. We did find it strange to be expected to pay to partake in some activities (bingo) at an all inclusive 5* holiday. The cleaning in the rooms was also hit and miss. Some days were perfect, but when we arrived the lamps were dusty and the bedding was ripped and stained. We requested new bedding with the cleaning staff, however this was replaced with the same ripped bedding. The phone in the room also didn’t work, so unless you fancied the scorching walk up to reception there was no way to report this. The rooms were average, not up to a 5* rating as the walls were paper thin. You could hear people next to you and above you even brushing their teeth or using the shower. We enjoyed the shared pool - we went with another couple and the rooms were adjacent which allowed us to share 1 pool together. This made the holiday for us. There were some stand out 5* staff, but unfortunately this was the only 5* element of the holiday. For the price we were underwhelmed. We would revisit if the price reflected the experience. We have stayed in many 5* hotels across Rhodes and Greece, and understand it can differ from a UK 5*, however this is more comparable to a 3* Greek hotel. It is nice, you will have a nice time but don’t expect the 5* experience.
