Reviews
Starting with the staff that was always smiling, kind and willing to serve, so that the services provided to be at their best.
Since we are a family with 2 small kids the only thing for sure is that the hotel is kids-friendly. With the pool for small children, the kid's parties and with the given access where required (for stroller, elevator).
The room was very clean, the hotel surroundings were both spotlessly clean and well-kept.
The food, with a very wide variety, including small surprises such as the barbecue night, satisfies every ages.
Last but not least, is the ease of movement for people with special needs (rooms, hotel's areas and also in the pool).
Fully recommended for summer 🏝️ 🌞 holidays
So when we came here and checked in, they gave us room number 725.
This room looked below average, there were no basic amenities like tampons, shower gel, shampoo, cotton buds, shower cap…
I wouldn’t have minded it, I brought my own but the bathroom wasn’t cleaned properly and there was A BUG!.
We spent 4 out of 6 nights in room 725 and after the fourth night we just had enough. The air conditioning was not working and the floor was extremely hot (like i am not kidding, it was boiling) and the whole room was VERY hot and humid and we could not sleep at all. We repeatedly complained about the A/C but it never really worked. Then we found out that just under our room there was a big generator and that was the reason out floor was so hot. Moreover it was making an annoying noise.
Overall, the room was smelly, dusty and hot. Then we just had enough and asked for another room. The second room was okay, there was a proper air conditioning, better hairdryer, it was cleaner and nicer.
But still, don’t expect something big, the rooms are outdated and old.
I will post some photos from the first room.
Please, change the shower curtains, they are yellow at the bottom and just look dirty.
The food was average, you can choose what you want.
The beach was small but pretty. The whole resort looks nice since there are lots of flowers. The pool bar had a snack corner but those snacks weren’t good.
What I was missing the whole time was a pool or beach restaurant with FRESH snacks like gyros, pizza, fries and so on. Snacks at the pool bar were stale and just not very appealing.
One of the receptionists can’t speak English and it was hard to understand him.
It was still a pretty nice experience but not what we expected. I think this place needs a lot of improvement.
I have a tip though, if you want to see more of Crete, rent a car and go somewhere because there are not many things to see nearby.
The room was clean but had tiled floors. When the floors were mopped, streaks and a smell of dirty water were occasionally left behind. The bathroom had a constant damp and slightly moldy smell.
The food was good, albeit lacking in variety, a common issue with all-inclusive resorts. The entertainment program was limited, with no activities tailored for children during our stay. However, we did enjoy an evening of engaging Greek dancing and live Greek music. The wine served was decent.
The pool area was functional but showed signs of wear, such as rust stains at the base of the ladders and pieces of the edge drain coming loose.
The resort is beautifully landscaped with flowers, palm trees, and shrubs, enhancing its overall appeal. It offers several dining spots that are particularly picturesque and can provide a romantic setting for meals.
The hotel is quiet, catering mostly to retirees during our visit. It is not suitable for those seeking vibrant nightlife.
The staff was generally friendly, with some of the bar staff being notably sociable, although not all were as engaging.
Overall, with its beautiful scenery and serene atmosphere, the Hydramis Palace is an okay choice for those looking to relax in a picturesque setting.
Downsides: the rooms closer to the pool area can get a bit noisy, as the walls there seem pretty thin. The location isn't ideal for many excursions, since it's an hour to Chania and about two hours to Heraklion. Most tour busses do stop near the main road here though.
Then the manager called me 10 times next day on the phone in my room to appear friendly so I won't make a complaint, but never said they are sorry and take responsibility for the event, she was just annoying me. Don't go here unless you have a strong stomach...
They do not have triple rooms. Instead they suggest to sleep in prison/motel-like foldable beds (please see photo attached) or childish sofa, which is 150 cm.
We asked hotel to change our room, or at least bed, however, with no results as the staff did not even tried to listen to our reasonable complaints.
Staff at the reception (especially the older Greek man) was exceptionally impolite and rude.
Wine at the bar is terrible! Like acid or vinegar :(
Food is okay.
Room and cleaning services are okay.
However, the air conditioning in some rooms are not working.
Animators and activities during evenings are very poor.
There are no self-service of drinks during lunch and dinner time, which is weird and awkward. You need to wait until waiter come and take your order. So if you want to order twice – please arm yourself with patience! What is more, there are no drinks service until 11am (not even soft drinks). You should wait in long queues by the pool bar.
Sadly, we do not recommend this hotel.
