Where to stay with pets in Matala

I really liked it, we had a front sea view room and it was good. Has a pool but I didn't go in as the beach is right next to it. Location is superb, watch sunset on beach come back get changed so easy

The overall experience is very good! The facilities are nice ( 4 swimming pools, a gym and common areas), the location is perfect, our room is literally 1minjte away from Matala beach

the hotel is very near to matala beach. The room was in the building behind the parking spots. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was perfect with everything you need

The only thing: bathroom is small and if you shower, you would have water everywhere in the bathed. But we would recommend this hotel

Our room was big and had a balcony where we could put our clothes to dry. Employees from the hoteL were all friendly and helpful!

Tasty breakfast with many options, good location, easy and free parking. The big dog that wanders at the hotel reception can be bit scary but he was calm and obeyed the owner. There was a fridge in the room.

Very good AC, and breakfast, bathroom is very limited but managable, very friendly dog (im scared of dogs but wasnt scared of this one very cute), pool area was amazing as well, very clean pool

They also have plenty of parking spaces and a big fluffy bonus for dog lovers!

I had a lovely time in this beautiful hotel. The staff are very friendly and the property is very well kept. The beach is only a five minute walk and there are lots of shops and restaurants in the area

10 min walk from beach. Tasty breakfast. Small swimming pool available. Public parking available only however there a lot of free places to park.

I like everything there: the rooms, the breakfast, the garden, the hospitality of Olimpios (the owner of the hotel), the swimming pool

If you are lucky enough your afternoon around the magnificent pool will enchanted by Olympios mandoline and songs. Breakfast are following a tight schedule but the food quality is premium

It is visited by many frequent customers who fell in love with the place and other 'de passage' who comes for a couple of night

I've stayed at this hotel three times. It is my favorite hotel on the island of Crete

Great location, lovely staff and a nice breakfast. Our apartment at the back was okay, clean and big enough for 4.

Pros: the most friendly staff, lovely breakfast, great location, very clean. Cons: bed was hard as a rock, shower was super tiny

Eleni is a complete sweetheart and helped with anything we needed. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had a mini fridge. Highly recommend staying here it was close to the beach and my family and I had a lovely stay!

Nice small hotel 10 minutes from the center, clean rooms with balcony and comfortable beds, spacious bathroom. There is also a small pool for those who need a change from the salty sea water

Clean rooms basic we had no kettle just a fridge but it was only an over night stay so fine nice pool area 5 min walk to matala easily done on the flat breakfast was good continental style maybe there are rooms with better facilities it was a nice place to stay

Peaceful, beautiful and extremely good value for money (even with a pool). Basic rooms, but very clean and with nice balconies. We stayed one night and had breakfast. The family running the hotel treated us very kindly

Comfortable and chill! The hotel let us enjoy the best of Matala. The cleaning service is very well done, the only pitfalls are the breackfast that is quite repetitive and the pool is closed during nightime

The breakfast was excellent offering a good range of foods. We had good air conditioning in our room which functioned efficiently. The price was very good value for money and the walk to the beach gave us our exercise

This small hotel is family owned and we were made to feel very welcome. Painted in traditional blue and white the premises were spotless and we stayed there for 2 nights bed and breakfast

Our twin room reminded me of Greek rooms of the 70s and was minimalist with a fridge, a drying rack for clothes and a veranda with pine trees outside offering shade and privacy

Fine place. I just got annoyed by drunk people in the pool at night, people talking loud in the corridor and the stink sewer in the room sometimes.

Loved our stay in the quaint, family-run hotel. Could not be in a better location for restaurants, shops, proximity to the beach and hiking. Very clean room with small balcony. Perfect for my husband and me

Nikos hotel in Matala was a magical place to stay. Not only for it's perfect location but also for the comfort and luxurious feel

The courtyard is delightful, with pretty flowers and trees that give great shade on a hot day. The staff are wonderful and made my husband and I feel at home. I highly recommend Nikos Hotel

Wonderful hotel of a lovely family. If you come every year, you are welcomed and treated almost like a family member. The rooms were freshly renovated last winter. It's perfectly located near the main square.

We stayed at the Eva Marina hotel for two weeks. Although it is not a luxury hotel (after all, there are no such hotels in Matala), our stay was very pleasant and we have everything we need

The rooms are spacious enough, have a kettle and a fridge. The terrace is nice, while the hotel garden is beautiful. The staff is attentive and helpful (thanks to Anastasia and Ioannis)

If you are looking for a small hotel right in the town center about 300m from the beach, this is the place for you. It is a 2 star hotel, so don't expect 5 star luxury

The current situation of hungry, unsterilized cats leads to overpopulation and suffering. This is causing distress both to the animals and to guests

As already identified multiple time in previous evaluation, there are many stray cats in/ around the hotel, most clearly in need for food and care

The hotel management should organise sterilization and sufficient feeding stations. They are quiet and nice cats; many are/could be domestic ones

Until hotel management act, if you’re still planning to stay here and if you care about these animals, help: feed them discretely/sign on-line survey to authorities/donate to Creta association/adopt and/or continue lobbying hotel management

Breakfast is simple but enjoyable, with tables outside in the garden area. We did not tested dinner; the buffet was small. Matala beach is close, well equipped, not too crowed at beginning of the season (end May)

Stray cats are everywhere in Creta; I did only see worst in Cyprus with mistreatment and dying cats. Greece is worse than Africa on this topic

The staff could not have been kinder and best of all, there was a resident hostel dog! He was the real surprise, living his best life panned out on the marble floors and at night, greeting us on our return after a fabulous session at the local bars

They are small, but changes in the kitchen are for the better: there are separate shelves where guests can keep their things, which do not necessarily have to be in the fridge. In high season, just right! May 2023

The location is perfect: it's close to everything; the bus stop from/to Heraklio is right in front of the hostel

I stayed here for the third time. It was the beginning of the season, so despite booking an 8-person dorm, I was upgraded to a 6-person room at no extra charge (for 9 nights 7 days I was alone)

But if you plan to be in the hostel in high season, I'd rather avoid an 8-person dorm: it's too small for such a number of guests. However, when there are 5-6 - it can be acceptable

The bathroom has no air conditioning and no window, so be sure to keep the door open - this way, damp air and odours will disappear faster
