Reviews
We’ve stayed on the first floor, we didn’t have a balcony and it was really hard to dry our beachwear because no direct sunlight was entering that room. Beds and pillows really uncomfortable and the room was looking really outdated. Also, you can hear everything from the other rooms.
Definitely the hotel needs an upgrade because it doesn’t look like a 4star hotel, every piece of furniture is really oldand looks bad.
The pool and the location was nice.
A large and tasty selection of food.
Room with a view of the sea - incredible and chic!
We will definitely come back to you again. I give my heart to Corfu and your hotel!
Officially rated 3* star hotel with some invasive flaws (no air-conditioning in the smoking hot restaurant, as staff simply opened the windows at 37°C/100 F, steep climb, very busy at a tourist hotspot, no WiFi in the rooms, with only mobile coverage outside the building & many non-sea-view rooms facing a solid mountain wall with no view at all) but friendly and efficient staff in a compact town.
Pre-booked by large tour operators, so don't expect a quiet or secluded place.
If you like the beach you better pick another nearby hotel along the coast: this one only has a small pool that closes at 8 pm with no life guard (unfortunately their water treatment facility is right next to this pool, with nasty smell issues) and you will have to cross a busy road to get to the beach. Pool towels were relatively expensive to hire, so bring your own.
This town currently (summer of 2016) is overcrowded during the weekend with local day trippers.
Clientèle mostly from all over the world, with lots of German, Belgian and French guests with ever more Polish, Russians and other guests from Eastern countries.
Food: okay-ish, but don't expect 5* buffet dining: very repetitive selection of bland dishes with too many canned ingredients, very few of them typically Greek, apart from the olives. Extra charges for everything: from room air conditioning (!), for a TV (Greek only) and even an extra cash charge for a fridge
Limited on-site souvenir store and a Swarovski Chrystal jewelry boutique that never saw any clients.
We've been here for a week, enjoying
the quaint town but avoided our hotel room during the day, which did comply with its 3* rating.
Main selling point: the view from the top of the hill, but only if you pay extra for sea view. Very efficient and friendly staff with reasonable English.
Not suitable for families with children or people who cannot climb the very steep slope (over 70 steps)
One (1 !) sole elevator (for the entire hotel) only takes 2 people and looks dangerous. Elevator broke down during our stay.
Drinks at dinner charged extra. Very limited animation at night, generally in Greek and (remarkably) French.
Avoid he rooms at the back side, as we were stunned to witness piles of rotting garbage there, with rented out guest rooms "enjoying" that view.
Management claimed a island-wide garbage collection strike was to blame, but even without that issue these rooms are best avoided.
The Paleo ArtNouveau hotel really is a mixed bag: from rooms with a hideous view at garbage at the back, to a great view over the bay.
Depending on the room you are booking, this hotel offers a totally different experience: from real bad (the rooms at the back, the smelly pool) to the 5 or six private bungalows. Since most guests will end up in a regular room, the Paleo ArtNouveau deserves a 2 to 3* rating.
But do check elsewhere if you intend to spend a lot of time in this place:
with 1 (one) dangerous & old elevator (for 2p) and limited facilities, this is place that has issues.
The staff is very friendly and kind.
The room was very comfortable and clean.
But I think that the view and the food
are the most impressive things in this hotel. The buffet is so great, with so many choices and delicious fresh food all day long!!!
