Reviews
The hotel is a little secluded, but there is a free transfer to the beach (3 mins away) and the bus stop a 10 min walk. The hotel also provides a trip to the Valley of the Butterflies for a small fee. You can also book other trips with tour operators from the hotel but they are quite pricey. We got the bus to Rhodes town for 3 euros each. If you pay on the bus they only take card, but coming back you can buy the ticket at the ticket office with cash or card.
My only two gripes with the hotel was the limited food choices. You're in Greece so don't expect to see chips, pizzas, nuggets, burgers too often. I think they served chips twice during our stay. It didn't bother me, but my teenagers can be quite fussy at times. This is also the first all inclusive hotel where snacks haven't been available in between meal times so, my kids were starving come dinner time. We'd have lunch about 1pm and dinner isn't served until 7pm. We chose to eat out a couple of times. There's also a great snack bar at the beach that sells omelette, chips, toasties etc for a reasonable price if your kids need a top up. My second gripe was the amount of people smoking during meal times. As the main eating area is outside, people are smoking all around you. Even if you choose to eat in the small indoor area, it is all open to outside with sliding doors so the smoke comes inside too. It's not pleasant for children and non-smokers. Maybe a ban on smoking should be introduced during meal times only.
Overall we had a great stay and would definitely recommend the hotel to others. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay a pleasant one.
The shower leaked at the Base of the shower. No mains plug socket by the bed . Food was a huge issue at the Meliton with breakfast to start with very limited. The rotation of eggs for breakfast was pretty bad with fried eggs which was edible just and the boiled eggs with toast and beans was about all i had for breakfast over 10 days.
The scrambled eggs which were served on another day were just like wet stodge and the omelette was like a rubber doorstop, along with hotdogs from a jar, mixed with fried onion passed off as sausage wasn't appealing, with the bacon that looked like it could snap as soon as you put the fork on it. Food not covered from the flies which it should of as it was buffet style.
The staff for breakfast and lunch clearing up were fantastic, (Panos at the bar and Debbie taking empty plates or some not so empty plates. They worked very hard and were a pleasure to talk to and know thank you)
Wasted talent in a hotel that could do a lot better. Lunch was limited in my opinion as most of the options like fish and chicken, spaghetti bolognase, spaghetti carbonarra, was pretty tasteless like their potatoes.
On the few occasions chips were done for lunch, it was worth having with some of the salad.
Nice pool area, very peaceful. Pool table, table tennis table if you fancy a couple of games. The hotel is situated quite some distance from many of the off site amenities like the beach, and the decent restaurants, Rhodes town which is a 50 minute bus ride away,
The evening buffet meal was again lacking in choice and flavour (thank god for some restaurants with the help from friends we met and salad!)
The evening staff were quite miserable apart from young Michael behind the bar who was very friendly. The drinks were watered down, apart from the ouzo. Some of the hotel restaurants take on traditional Greek cuisine was appalling like the so called moussaka which had no substance to it.
The entertainment in the evenings like a Greek night was ok, karaoke that wasn't too bad. Film night on Sunday, mamma mia, you could forget it.
The hotel to sum up was nice hotel with clean rooms, but need a fair bit of work in certain places. A bit to far away from some very good restaurants and places to visit and see. The hotel restaurant itself needs a total menu overhaul and proper Greek and English food not to cater just for Europeans. It needs to be cooked fresh like the tavernas.
