Hotel opened in 1913, renovated in 2006. In this hotel 50 rooms, 3 floors.

Nothing special - old building and sometimes very small bathroom with odd toilet placement. But for the price ok. Breakfast also ok

We were deliberately denied accommodation because the booking was made through Booking.com and the price was lower than the hotel's direct rate due to Genius discount. When we arrived at the hotel and mentioned that we will book rooms through booking.com, the hotel manager started to book rooms in the system so we could not buy the rooms, because the price at the hotel was more expensive. He said that if we had already booked one room through Booking, we should book the second one there as well. Simultaneously, while we were there, he reserved all the rooms through the system, and I saw that they instantly disappeared from Booking.com. He then said that the hotel was fully booked and that he couldn't accommodate us, recommending we use another hotel, without even confirming the one room we had already booked. After a long day of travel, being exhausted, we find these actions absurd and unprofessional. Especially due to the fact that it was a night and hardly anyone would book these suits.

We wanted to spend the night on our way to Italy.
We checked in around 11PM, the reception is 24/7. Few things there are to know:
- there is no A/C, so when we arrived, there were like 30 degrees in the room. We were lucky that outside was cold and we could open the windows
- if you want to buy water from the bar, you must pay cash
- if you pay the room cash, it is cheeper
- the hotel ia very old, the elevator is out of service for years, don’t buy the “it’s not working from yesterday”
- the rooms are clean
- there is a strange smell in the rooms, but nothing that serious that you cannot sleep
- it is waaaay too expensive for what you get
- the breakfest is dissapointing from 7-9AM( scrambled eggs, yoggurt, bread, tomatos and ham)
In conclusion, for one night if the prices were half what they request, i would maybe suggest sincer there are no good options around for one night.
But for 70 euros cash (82 with card) its way too much.
I would not recommand.

Found a centipede on the wall, television out of date showing no channels, high price. Avoid this place at all costs.

The hotel has a nice old vibe to it. That about wraps up the good things about it.
Everything is a bit dirty, not too bad. Our room had lots of bugs crawling on the ground in the morning. The receptionist was very rude right from the beginning. The walls are paper thin so you can hear absolutely everything from every room (which also means you basically have to whisper in order to not alert the big bad receptionist).
At least the location is pretty nice, even though everything closes very early.

the worst hotel in my life!! stayed in it once for one night. the room
was a very unpleasant surprise. if we don't talk about the incomprehensible arrangement of the furniture, we can say that the room is dirty, the covering is falling off the walls, we had to wait a very long time for hot water, the carpet in the bathroom is dirty, the soap is overdue for 2 years!!, the towels are torn and dirty, there are 2 working sockets, but the refrigerator has no access to them, so it did not work, there was also no access to fresh air, because the window is located very high and it is impossible to reach it, cobwebs and various insects are everywhere. I do not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel!!

There are echoes of past grandeur in what was probably a beautiful hotel. Back in 1914 and no doubt the 1920's it was undoubtedly the place to be. The stained glass windows on the stairs, doors leading to the rooms which were built for 10 foot giants build up a sense of anticipation. But the room we stayed in was disappointing. No air-conditioning in a Hungarian city summer world be unbearable. The windows, which you will need to open during the night overlook a busy road in terms of noisy motorised and pedestrian traffic. There is no dedicated shower or even a shower curtain to prevent water spilling all over the floor. And the shower head is poorly fixed so the water can't easily be directed and too low so I had to crouch down beneath it. And no I'm not a 10 foot giant.
The breakfast was ok but the coffee was cold. The water and coffee heaters were unplugged so not surprising.
The staff were very helpful but they're aren't many. I'm guessing that they employ more during the peak seasons. It looked like the manager was looking after the breakfast buffet and talking to a contractor a floor above at the same time. He might also prepare the buffet as well. I wouldn't be surprised.
If you want a hotel in the center of Nagykanizsa then you haven't got a lot, if any, choice.

Old stuff but nice to stay over nite, good price, nice view,good restaurant and ice cream just 50m away,very friendly pdople
