Good location for skiing in and out, we returned here after an excellent holiday two years ago. We were told that the chef had changed, as a result we found the vegetarian food option less attractive than before.

Absolutely top ski hotel just a few minutes bus ride from the main ski lifts and the ski bus stops right outside! The staff were unbelievably friendly and really looked after us during our stay. A nice budget friendly hotel. Food was ok, always three course dinners with the addition of a great and varied salad bar. Breakfast was fine but could of done with some hot options. Rooms were very basic but clean and warm. Was a good base for a days skiing as the lifts were only a few minutes away on the free bus service.

I booked this accommodation as a bolt-hole for a week's skiing and was not disappointed given the price. The hotel is in desperate need of some love and attention but does have a certain charm. Breakfast is a fairly simple affair though there's sufficient to set you up for a morning on the slopes.

Warm-hearted family owned hotel in the picturesque village of Bardonecchia. Man in charge Bruno takes excellent care of his guests - with a great sense of humour. Dinner is served by the charming daughter Claudia and cooked with local ingredients by son Marco. Excellent spot to de-connect!

The hotel is situated at the very top of Bardonecchia opposite the Rho creek. They have interesting facilities for mountain bikers such as a dedicated garage and washing facilities. The personnel is OK. The meals could be improved. Location is clean.

A recent motorcycle accident in Bardonecchia left me with a broken arm. I was staying at the Sommeiller Hotel. Hector and his team could not have been kinder than they were, lifts to hospital and return to the hotel after an overnight stay. They went well beyond the parameters of hotel hospitality and I would like to thank them all very very much. And I will be back again next year.

Just home from a week in Sauz. Our party of 9 had a wonderful time on the slopes and were so well looked after by the Gran Baita staff. The food was amazing and they even catered for our two vegans. This place was just great, we have really enjoyed ourselves. It was a party of 8 and we all have been looked after really well. Staff was very attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. It is not a budget meal type place but definitely recommend it.

They run a car shuttle to the main ski lift and it’s about a 8 minute walk back from the nearest slope. Breakfast was good as too the spa which you can book privately for 40 minutes. Great view from the balcony. But the 6 person rooms are to small even for 5 persons, basically the fifth person will sleep on a sofa and the other two in a room with out a window... Lovely old hotel, does need a bit of work but I liked the charm of it. The mattresses were very hard, I got used to them but I can imagine some people finding them too uncomfortable. Key weakness is the quality of the food at dinner. The buffet style offering was inconsistent: eg. a tasteless salmon dish but some reasonable pasta dishes for prima plate. I can’t praise this hotel enough. Rooms are spacious, well designed and clean. Staff were really friendly and efficient. Food was excellent and had so much choice! My only negative point was having to queue for the hot drinks machine in the morning but it was only an extra 5 mins max per day, we just aren’t used to it!

The location is excellent for skiing. It is possible to ski right to the front door and it is a short walk up in front of the hotel before you are able to put skis on and get down to the lifts. The staff were all excellent and were accommodating. The food is excellent and there is a great choice, albeit not if you are vegetarian/vegan. During my stay the hotel heating was very hot. Great hotel and the food was fantastic but the drinks were expensive €4 for a bottle of coke and €7 for a pint of beer.

A perfect location for a skiing hotel, you can ski in and out of the hotel door. The food was delicious and varied and the hotel has all the facilities for a perfect skiing holidays, very nice spa area and lounge bar with a great selection of hot and cold drinks. The staff was as friendly as they could but seemed a bit overworked! The superior single room was spacious and had a good storage space....

Very nice hotel with comfortable, nicely decorated rooms, a bar, swimming pool, sauna and excellent restaurant. The self service dinner offered three cooked starters and three main courses, together with a fantastic choice of vegetables and many other options. The desserts were amazing too. On a negative point they will not serve tap water at the table so you have to buy table water, and the cheapest...
