Avoid avoid avoid! We booked two “family-sized” rooms for August 2025, expecting a renovated 4-star spa experience as advertised. Instead, the rooms shown to us had visible water stains, mildew, and did not resemble the pictures on the hotel’s website. The front desk manager kindly suggested alternative towns where we might find accommodation. She even indicated that a full refund would be possible if we contacted the hotel director, but despite multiple attempts, no reply has been received. We ended up not staying the night and had to scramble to book elsewhere.
In my view, this is not suitable for families or anyone expecting comfort, hygiene, or modern facilities. My advice: stay in the surrounding countryside or in Montepulciano.

Our room was riddled with mould and mildew the smell was near unbearable. When we talk to the front desk all we got was “we will check it out” then nothing was done. Bugs, terrible smell and little to no service is unnacceptable. I have taken photos of the obvious black mould covering the washroom as if the smell wasn’t evidence enough. No human should be staying here. It would have been different if they offered a different room or something. The pool is not cleaned properly. I went right as the pool opened and the the floor of the pool had MULTIPLE bandaids and hair pins. Avoid this place at all cost. The entire hotel has a musky cheesy odor and our room specifically was one of the worst smells I’ve ever had to smell. Not coming back

By international standards, this would be a good 2-star hotel.
The 4 stars were probably real in a different era for Chianciano, in the 70s-80s, when this small town was booming. Now, this old crumbling structure reflects the reality of a ghost town that has seen better days. The hotel has been partly renovated, but it’s so outdated that you can barely notice it. The dimly lit corridors are almost scary, with the old carpet adding to a Overlook Hotel vibe straight out of the Shining.
The rooms offer basic amenities, and in some rooms bathrooms have not been renovated (see photos).
Very poor breakfast, mostly with reheated frozen pastries.

My suggestion is to sleep outside Chianciano, in the phenomenal countryside of the Val D’Orcia. No need to waste your money for a place that fell out of grace a long time ago.

English: The hotel is located in an optimal position for getting around. Even walking, you can reach some bars, shops or other, for what Chianciano can offer today. The city has remained essentially focused on thermal paths. Many accommodation facilities are abandoned. Among those open, there is no strength for renewal: everything is stuck in the 90s. This hotel is also proof of this: the rooms have wallpaper that is NOT well-kept. But what bothered me most was the attention to cleanliness: in the bathroom, upon arrival, there was a dead insect, on the edge of the tiles dust (too much!!!) to be recent, in addition to the old shower cabin ruined by abrasive products. The towels and sheets had some rust stains. On the second day, after the room had been redone, I found the same crumb that my son had dropped in the morning! The restaurant is large, breakfast good. We did not try lunch or dinner. The SPA path is pleasant (hydromassage, sauna, relaxation area). The staff is very kind. The wellness center is Kids Friendly until 4:30 pm: after this time, children can no longer stay in the center (which closes at 8:00 pm), so they must be locked elsewhere if their parents want to stay at the SPA... but you will know this at check in! The structure is a 4 star on paper: the big flaw is the rooms and the cleanliness. The photos online would tell otherwise. The parking is not large, you have to make do in the surrounding streets. Too bad for these hotels: they are many years behind.

Ground floor looks good. Spa is OK. Service was very good. The best of the place.
The rooms and the hallways are OLD. Not “old cool”. Just old and Not well mantained either.
Old and small. Ugly furniture.
And this was the room with 22m2. Not 18. I can’t imagine how there is a room with 4m2 less.
Bathrooms are renovated and good. But when you brush your teeth, water will take about 5 minutes no empty the sink …
Windows close badly.
Is a 2 star hotel. Not 4. I always travel 4 stars and this is miles away from that.
There was a list of prices for the frigobar, not very expensive, water, coke, beer, proseco, but there where only 4 waters in there.
You will hear EVERYTHING your neighbor does.
And EVERYTHING the guys on top of you flushs in the toillette.
It was for us easy to arrive. I saw a lot of comments regarding this. If you use google maps will arrive perfectly.
I would pay half what I did, and still the price/quality would be not very nice.

We booked two rooms. One was in decent condition although not a 4 star caliber, but overall decent. The second room looked like a completely different hotel, a one star moțel. Old, cramped, dirty, musty, and overall terrible. I asked the front desk to change the room, but they refused. They just brought new sheets. Terrible experience.

Wonderful hotel to stay at. Amazing meals I would give it 5*. The hotel needs a little updating. A little TLC. I enjoyed the spa area but would have liked to see a nicer outdoor pool area Friendliest staff I have ever met.

Unfortunately the photos on the hotel website are misleading, the room is worn and not very clean (fortunately large as is the bathroom). Nothing reported on the website regarding the restaurant corresponds to what, unfortunately, we had the misfortune of finding (food for cheap company canteen). The structure is very old and worn and, from what we could see, maintenance is lacking. The positive note is found in the complete and maintained spa (up to the photos published on the site) and in the friendliness and talkativeness of the barman (to whom a heartfelt thank you goes)

A Charming Hotel
I booked the same day of arrival…they were ready for me, accommodating and very friendly. They have a spa so I splurged with a massage…fabulous. I’m surprised this hotel doesn’t have an “excellent “ rating…they should!
