I recently organized a three-day international conference at Hotel San Giorgio, and I can honestly say it was a fantastic experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making sure that every detail was taken care of.

We recently stayed at Hotel San Giorgio for the convenience sailing out the next day- and the staff did an incredible job accommodating us!! From our initial inquiry to stay at the hotel, all the way to checkout the staff was informative, quick communication, and incredibly friendly. They organized transportation from FCO and the driver was incredibly nice. The hotel itself is beautiful- rooms could use a bit of updating but very clean and comfortable. It was the perfect spot to stay in ahead of going on a cruise!

It is clear this was once a nice fancy hotel, sadly there has been little to no upkeep over the years, and the years have not been kind.
The staff was available as needed, but were not overly welcoming or accommodating. The beds were clean, but the bathroom was so bad my husband and I skipped showering. There was mold on the shower head and other locations in the shower, the bidet was non-functioning, and the toilet had off and on trouble with constant running. The lift was more a tiny death box on a string and I only got in because I could not manage carrying my suitcases up the stairs.
The views were not entirely of the neighboring alleys and if you could look from the front of the building you could partially see the ocean. At least the walk down to the shore is not terrible where there is a really nice park to stroll and relax.
The on-sight restaurant was equally rundown but the service was good and the food was tasty.
The location for us was not great as it was a VERY long walk to the cruise port. And there are extremely limited options for transportation between the hotel and the port. The hotel offers a shuttle but it fills up too fast and cannot accommodate all the guests. And the front desk staff was not helpful in securing an alternative ride.
Overall I would not willing stay at Hotel San Giorgio again.

Nice room, old furniture and outdoor table on balcony had a bent leg and rocked back and forth. Balcony partial privacy on side however rooms above looked right into private balcony area. Only one worn out lawn chair for two people.. our suite had its bedroom steep narrow steps to upstairs, which we didn’t know about. Hallways to the room are kinda dungeon like, they could use more lighting. Great Breakfast and all you can eat, hot and cold items. Hotel had private shuttle to the cruise port for a few $ 15 Euro each unless you booked a room with a shuttle discount. Hotel is 10 to 15 minutes from the Central train station and about 20 minutes from cruise port , depending which cruise dock your at.
Dinning room on top floor had amazing views and beautiful place to watch sunset. Dinner is served around 18:30 -1900 , bar was open early for a limited food choices, our food was good tasting. Note, They charge for water if you want it.
Lastly this hotel has great potential and new owners just took over, hopefully they will upgrade some furniture and it will be a 4 star American style hotel, until then I gave it only 3 stars.

A very unpleasant experinece from Hotel San Giorgio near port Civitavecchia.
I have made a reservation on Hotel San Giorgio before boarding on the cruise based on the recommendation on the Civitavecchia port website.
However, they cancelled our booking due to overbook and since mid August , they haven’t offer the refund.
In early Sep, I visited Civitavecchia and went to the hotel in person to confirm about the refund. They said the refund should be settled within Sep but still nothing show up and they are not replying my emails.
I suspect a scam from this hotel to foreign tourists.

Note that this hotel charges your credit card for one night stay when you book. They say the cancellation is up to two days prior to your stay with full refund, provided you inform them in writing.
However, they were informed of my cancellation in writing, acknowledged I informed them and then never refunded the deposit. Two months later I needed to phone my credit card company to get the money back.

Almost lost my finger from a sharp fixture positioned above the toilet paper. Breakfast wasn't that great. We stayed one night for a cruise. Probably should've stayed in Rome.

Beware of dishonest business practices... Pre-paid room had to be cancelled. Email communication from Andrea lettting me know that in accorddance with cancellation policy, refund would be processed "as soon as possible"... 3 months later, nothing and follow-up emails simply not responded to... finally had to undertake dispute process with credit card company... reading other comments shows this business engages in a range of deceptive business practices... will never deal with them again
