After reading some of the reviews we were a bit hesitant to stay here. However, after spending 4 days here we were very pleasantly surprised. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The pool and rooftop terrace were beautiful. The location was perfect for exploring the northern end the lake with easy access to the ferry. The rooms were simple and a little dated, but the lake view was well worth it. Only feedback would be the inconsistency of the hours of service for lunch on the rooftop. We were told at check in lunch was served daily 2:00- 6:00pm however both days we went to eat during those times, they were not serving lunch. Otherwise, we had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend!

A characterful grand Italianesque hotel, handy for exploring Lake Como by ferries. The hotel bars/restaurants overlook the scenic lake and mountains, but the evening menu is expensive. The breakfast provided a good selection of continental-style food from its large buffet facility. We found a handful of cafes/restaurants within ten minute walking distance from the hotel. The bedrooms are of a good size and the period decor is traditional and befitting of the hotel's architecture. The staff were helpful, and we were greatly assisted by the tour company representatives who were both English-speaking Italians.

We feel great!

Stayed in this hotel last week. My room was spotlessly clean very warm and comfortable. The pillows & bed were the most comfortable I've experienced in any hotel. Everyone working there was friendly, helpful & polite. My understanding is this hotel is now closing for refurbishment. Although a little tired it's still beautiful and it's location to be envied. I doubt when the Grand Hotel Cadenabbia reopens we'll be able to afford it, so it was so nice to have the pleasure of a stay here.

Obviously on its last legs as a 'grand' hotel. We were there with an organised group otherwise we'd not have stayed. We paid a very large supplement for a lake view room and this got us one third of a shared balcony and a room furnished and equipped like a hostel. No dressing table, one upright chair, no full length mirror and only shapoo not shower gel in the antiquated bathroom. We felt ripped off. The dining room had wonderful views but sadly the maitre d was very abrupt to the point of rudeness which spoilt our meals. No alternative local restaurants. I gather the hotel will close now for two years for refurbishment. I can only hope it improves but nevertheless we'll not be back.

Stunning! The views from our rooms were right out of a picture book or a fairy tale. The beds were most comfy and we just adored the view. Easy walking to great food and the breakfast feast in the morning is top notch. So glad we stayed here instead of one of the more crowded locations. Multiple choices for catching the ferry within easy walking distance. This was an absolute find!

Good location and beautiful view. Hotel has much potential but is in need of work. Room(s) in need of a deep clean and renovation. Smells mold from ventilation. Hole in the wall. Looks like black mold in shower.

Hotel will close November 2023 for 2 years for a much needed refurbishment and is likely to re-open as 5 star. Biggest problems: The (only) main road runs directly in front of the hotel - traffic day and night - had to keep windows shut, so waste of time having a balcony. Although we were told that the aircon had been switched off for the wintert, we found that it still worked - otherwise we would have suffocated! Guests in garden view rooms complaining that they were dark and cold. Rooms very, very small - it was previously a large villa. Staff excellent, cleaning spotless, food very good - once we got used to the evening meal style - starter from a large and excellent buffet (cold meat cheese, cold fish (smoked mackerel, salmon), prawns, many pasta and potato salads, grilled aubergine slices, asparagus, broccoli etc etc. Could have easily made a good meal from that alone. The soup or a pasta dish from the menu, then main course (e.g. steak, salmon, turkey, chicken) - very well cooked, but with virtually no vegetables - so you need to get those in your starter from the buffet. Large selection of desserts and you could have followed that with cheese from the buffet if you really wanted it¬! (No biscuits though). Good selection of wines starting with a very drinkable rose at 20 euros. Most perhaps 28-32 euros. Not very impressed with the gardens after seeing the Villa Carlotta next door. Cadenabbia is in a good position on the lake for travel north or south and there are boats and ferries to Bellagio and Varrena and t the Villa Balbianello.

I'm putting this review on because there are so many mixed reviews. Overall its a decent hotel. Needs some improvements yes, but overall the breakfast was really good, service was amazing, and location isn't too far from the ferries. If you are looking for a clean hotel, great views, and nice staff this is the place to stay

Nice liberty style hotel close to Tremezzo and situated right in front to Bellagio which you can reach by boat from the nearby ferry station. The hotel is a bit old and really need some renovation (expecially the rooms) considering that the price is not cheap.
