Imperiale Palace Hotel

the positive: the hotel is located in a nice place with beautiful views over the ocean, with stunning old quarters with elaborate mosaic designs and decoration. it really does feel like a luxurious palace. the gym is sufficiently equipped for a full men's workout. the swimming area for the ocean area is very nice. we enjoyed laying by the ocean on the rocky coast with 2 separate swimming access to the water.

the average: the food is unfortunately just average, especially given the price. it does not taste bad, but we ate at a few different 5* hotels in the area and there definitely is an other level in terms of presentation, service and taste. breakfast was good, but given a 750 EUR / night price, it could have had more items. In general the service in the hotel was well meaning, but felt forced and chaotic several times.

the bad: The rooms have terrible noise insulation. Initially we stayed in a room with a pass through door to the neighboring room and we could hear every single word our neighbors were saying. not even the cheapest U.S. airport hotels have such bad insulation. We complained, but it took them 2 days to move us to a different room. We weren't offered an apology and were given the feeling that we were exaggerating in our complaints. The next room had no connection to a neighbor room, but noise insulation was still very bad. I sleep with earplugs so I was not bothered but my wife had to listen to a couple having intercourse for quite some time.

In summary: for ca. 350 EUR a night this hotel would have been fairly priced, but they charge 750EUR in high season, which does not reflect the value.

Room was filled with smoke for being smoke free rooms - they corrected it by spraying with perfume and not giving us a new room! We went to dinner at the hotel and they charged us $25 a glass after saying it was complimentary. Lastly went to dinner and our entree never arrived after 2 1/2 hours asking for it ! They kept bringing the wrong entree after even pointing to the one we wanted on the menu. They charged us full price and the manager never came to speak to us after asking. Not a 5 star experience at all. The place is beautiful but at best it’s a pretty Best Western. Save your money - don’t stay here!

The whole place is super shabby. The facilities, the pool, the rooms, the kitchenware everything is very dated and in poor shape. Service and even hygiene is very poor. Every cup of coffee I was served at breakfast was dirty and so was the spoon. Every single time. Any complaints are addressed with arrogance or somehow blaming the guest. 5 star service?

No internet. Swimming pool broken. Horrible food and dirty utensils/cups at breakfast. Turning on kettle in room shuts down electricity (which also disables door lock). Management unapologetic about this, despite charging huge fees per night. Our break was ruined.
