Hotel Continental

We are not satisfied with the service provided because when changing the room, the receptionists gave the wrong information about leaving the room, which caused a problem for us, so we decided to leave. Regardless of that, they charged us 50 percent of the price of the new room for which we would have to wait for 4 hours, and it was agreed transfer during the reservation. After that they charged 223 euros more than the actual service, we accidentally noticed a mistake, returned from the road to the hotel for 45 minutes and waited for a refund, which they did not return, and it was paid in cash, and it will be refunded to the account. We are sorry is that it turned out that way because the other services are good and the position of the hotel is excellent.

Extremely unhelpful and inflexible. We had one night booked here but unfortunately I got sick just before. We tried to move the booking for the week after but they refused to accommodate, so we ended up having to cancel and losing half of our money. I understand you need to have this sort of policy to guarantee business if people really do just want to cancel the booking, but in certain cases there should be the flexibility to move a booking. Really disappointing.

My overall experience at Continental turned out extremely negative. Let me elaborate:

On the one hand, very nice view from the hotel and the premium rooms. The area by the water with sun beds is very nice. Beautiful and well-attended garden.

On the other hand, value for money is poor, the communication is dishonest and they hold no prisoners in terms of adding extra fees at all stages during your stay (often without heads up!). Some examples:
- We stayed in a room for EUR 435 / night. Clearly, we assumed that the sunbeds at the water were included in this price (mind you, the rooms are unfemarkable). No one told us different during the stay. When checking out, 50 EUR per day (25 pp and day) was adder on top of the bill! The manager referred to some communication on their website in Italian, and didn’t budge. He had a moment of truth to deliver a good customer experience, but prioritized the short term gain. Says very much about the priorities of this place.
- Parking costs 25 EUR / day. Never communicated upfront.
- You want orange juice for breakfast? That’s 5 EUR extra. An omelette? 11 EUR please. The standard breakfast is worthy of a 2 star hotel.
- We ended up paying 1.6k EUR for 3 nights and feel cheated, furious and shocked.

Please save yourself our trouble and go somewhere else in this beautiful town. These guys will just try to suck you dry!
