The Garda Village

It was my first time at Garda Village and I truly wasn’t expecting much. We stayed at the campground for 5 days. I’d give 2 stars overall.

A hotel should be judged by how they present themselves, their standard in comparison with their price and the full experience.

Safe to say, this is not a four Star experience and at 180 euro/night, plus hidden fees for linen and towels, you should get so much more for your money.

What you do get is moldy, uncleaned rooms and very very old standards.

The receptionist was very unfriendly and unprofessional and blamed me for being stupid when I asked why the hotel extra cost for linens, which was not previously communicated. No help to be given from the reception so no point in bringing up the problems with the dirty room.

The location is great however, with the lake just outside and thanks to this we could still enjoy the stay, even tho we spent most of our time outside the hotel area.

In summary, as a hotel with almost 200 euro per night, this was a clear 1 star experience.

I gave this place a 2 star for many different reasons, I am genuinely not one to complain, but I want to give advice to new people thinking about staying at this place, if you are considering a bungalow the only thing the company will provide is one toilet roll, beds and a bar of soap, nothing else, you will get a fair size room, kitchen but you will have to pay for the towels, Bedding and cleaning. (You will also have to make the beds yourself - which I wouldn’t mind but you have to pay for the sheets) The cleaning was around €20 plus, bear in mind we are travelling and only staying here for three nights. Then the staff, some of the staff were very nice but just don’t check out before 8am otherwise you will be made to wait outside until they are ready (even if you are in a rush for a train) Now finally the reason for the 2 star; this is a 4 star rated place but should be 2 star due to all the work you have to do and all the extra charges you have to pay. No service at all and I don’t recommend at all. I would like to point out the location was amazing though and the view of the lake and the private access to the Lake was amazing.

We had a bungalow (or what I called it: WWII bunker) that were missing alot of kitchen accessories. No sofa either were provided. AC worked but was leaking alot of water when in operation (so much we had to put a bucket under it) overall a quite un-cosy living place , the only thing we liked was the pool area and the staff that was very friendly. But beware, there are some strict rules inside the pool area. The large resturant inside the area was neither a positive experience , with tasteless pizza (pasa was good however!).

Everything was an extra charge from linens, towels to wi-fi. Moreover, access to wifi was limited to a certain area. The cottages were of a very low standard that was totally inadequate for the price. The cottages were in very close proximity to each other, everyone could see several neighbors around, so the downside was the lack of privacy. A swimming cap was required in the pool, which was not mentioned earlier (the cap could be purchased at the resort, which generated additional costs). The resort is huge, and if you want to stay in the cheapest bungalow you have to walk very far, as they are located at the very end. There is a very poorly stocked supermarket on site. The beach at the facility is very small and rocky. You have to pay for literally everything. The facility has a bicycle rental service that does not work. I do not recommend, I will not return.
