Hotel Fontana

I stayed for two days there with my friend, and Diego made us feel very welcome. He shared great tips and provided a lot of information about Venice. The customer service was excellent, and the breakfast was awesome as well. Overall, I had a great experience.

A lovely family run hotel, right in the heart of Venice but still maintaining a small and intimate feel.
The breakfast is great, beds are comfy and the AC is a lifesaver, particularly in the summer. I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone for either short or long term stays.

Hotel Fontana is an absolute gem! From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in the warm, welcoming atmosphere that the staff effortlessly creates. The location is unbeatable, nestled a short walk from the San Zaccaria vaporetto stop, offering picturesque views and convenient access to city center.

Our room was a perfect blend of Venetian charm and modern comfort, and also impeccably clean. We had a wardrobe with extra blankets and pillows if needed. I chose the City view because I love to people watch. There weren’t many photos available so I’m adding those here. I loved seeing the people walk through the streets and hearing the Church bells ring, when we were there that is! We spent as little time as possible ‘inside’.

Waking up to the stunning views of the canals was a daily highlight. The breakfast served each morning was delicious, with a variety of options to suit every palate, and the cozy dining area added to the overall delightful experience.

What truly sets Hotel Fontana apart, though, is the exceptional service. They even let us check in hours before our scheduled time. The staff always went above and beyond to ensure our stay was memorable, offering insightful recommendations for dining and sightseeing, and always greeting us with a smile. Their genuine hospitality made us feel like treasured guests.

Hotel Fontana exceeded all our expectations, providing an unforgettable stay in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. We can't wait to return and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a magical Venetian experience!

Hotel front desk was very knowledgeable about the city and happy to help us with logistics of traveling including how to get from the airport to hotel and to train station. Room was clean and big enough for 2. Location was easy to walk to everything you want to see.

I have been staying at this hotel over the last 30 years. Doesn’t that say everything! The moment you cross the threshold you become part of the Fontana family. If you want a good Venice experience then the Fontana is a very good start. Excellent also for its central location and closeness to the water bus stops. I would not stay anywhere else and can only highly recommend this gem of a hotel.

The nicest family hotel! Diego and Gabriele were the most hospitable, friendly owners and we couldn’t recommend it highly enough. The location is great, the rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious, and breakfast very good (definitely sit on the terrace if the weather is nice)! We will be visiting again!

We stayed at Hotel Fontana for 5 nights in September, it was wonderful - couldn’t recommend more! The service was fantastic (nothing was a problem) rooms are lovely, great breakfast and location is perfect, we had such a great stay in the city. A friendly family-run hotel, we will be back!

The hotel is very nicely located. We felt we were centrally located to walk to all the areas of Venice. The front counter staff were super friendly and always helpful with our questions. The hotel and rooms were very clean and very well maintained. As mentioned, the breakfast, for Europe, was a bit thin, but adequate. I think considering everything in Venice is hand dollied in I wouldn’t expect much more. Very nice hotel and very nice place to stay. I would definitely stay here again.

Two cousins run this long established hotel in a converted convent. For Venice the very rare addition is the very welcome lift to all floors. The cousins are two very helpful individuals with encyclopaedic knowledge of Venice's transport system. They recommend very few restaurants but their choices are top notch, nearby and authentic. Rooms are spacious and well serviced. The breakfast room is bright and airy and the buffet breakfast substantial. Alternatively the outside terrace offers an altogether brighter outdoor experience.
