Altafiumara Resort & Spa

We booked this at the last minute due to its proximity to the airport in Reggio Calabria. It was the nicest place in which stayed in all of Puglia and Calabria. Room was immaculate and the staff attentive and professional.

My wife and I were vacationing in the area and we discovered the Altafiumara by literally looking up from the beach. We went up there curious about the potential view over the straight of Messina. It didn't disappoint, the view is amazing.

We could not stay there because it was fully booked, but we tried the restaurant and they invited us to hang out by the pool for the rest of the afternoon.

The food was delicious. Chef Battaglia is great and he prepared us a gorgeous tasting menu of local delicacies, mainly made up of fish. Best meal we had in Italy.

Absolutely wonderful stay! The resort is stunning, with breathtaking views of the Strait of Messina, beautiful gardens, and a real sense of peace. The staff were warm and attentive, the rooms spacious and elegant, and the pool and spa made it a perfect retreat. Breakfast offers a wide variety, while lunch and dinner are truly Michelin-star level.

Had an absolutely wonderful stay at Altafiumara. The staff were incredibly kind, from the front desk staff to the restaurant staff, everyone treated us well. The food was amazing as well, and the room was very comfortable and CLEAN! We had no issues whatsoever, we wish we could have stayed longer. The views were amazing, the pool was great and overall the experience was a 10/10. We even got massages that were unbelievable, truly relaxing and made our stay even better. The plunge pool (half indoor, half outdoor) is available at an extra charge (definitely worth it) and the amenities were great. Can’t wait to return!

We stayed in a room located in the same building as the restaurant. The room was clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated, with a large walk-in shower. Everything was well-prepared for our arrival — neat and welcoming. If there had been bathrobes, it would’ve been perfect.

The view from the window was beautiful — overlooking the restaurant, the pool, and the sea. Since the hotel is located in a bay, you can see the opposite shore, which looks especially magical at night.
Our room faced the leisure area, so it was a bit noisy in the evening due to live music. But it felt completely in line with the atmosphere of a summer seaside getaway and only added to the charm.

Room service is the most expensive I’ve seen (€15 delivery fee), but it’s worth it. Dinner arrived in 20 minutes, breakfast in just 10. Dinner was absolutely amazing — especially the fusion-style sushi, where each type of nigiri came with its own custom sauce, like passion fruit. It was creative and delicious.

The hotel grounds are also lovely — large, green, and well-maintained, with lawns and trees. The property is quite hilly, but staff will gladly help with luggage using golf carts — very convenient.

The only downside was a minor communication issue. There may have been some signal problems with the phone in our room, which possibly prevented messages from getting through to the staff.
One breakfast item was missing, and when I called reception in the morning to request luggage assistance (as we were rushing to catch a ferry), the manager said someone would come right away. After 20 minutes of waiting, I had to call again.
Not a major issue, but it slightly affected the final impression.

Conclusion: despite this small hiccup, the hotel left us with a very warm and positive impression. We’ll definitely be back.

The food was good, but for such a large resort, the small pool could be better. No one was allowed to lie on the loungers; they were cordoned off. And in the evenings, there was music playing, which was completely unpleasant.

Views across to Sicily gorgeous. Most brilliant sunsets. Restaurant excellent, currently doing Japanese fusion style as part of their menu at dinner. Strongly recommended. Very reasonable rates.

Amazing Family Stay – Big Thanks to Gennaro Di Meo and all the staff

We had such a memorable stay at Altafiumara Resort with our two little ones (ages 5 and 2). The location is absolutely stunning — beautiful sea views, peaceful gardens, and a calm atmosphere that was perfect for unwinding as a family.

Our room was spacious and super comfortable, and the staff made us feel completely at home. A special shoutout to Hotel Director Gennaro Di Meo, who went above and beyond to make our stay extra special. His warmth and hospitality truly stood out — we felt genuinely cared for.

The pool was our kids’ favorite part — we spent hours there every day and it was perfect for young children. Breakfast on the terrace with that amazing view was a daily highlight, and the food throughout our stay was fresh and delicious.

Altafiumara strikes a rare balance between elegance and family-friendliness. We can’t wait to return!

We have been here several times for dinner with family and friends and each and every time it’s been an amazing experience. The staff are very attentive and always give exceptional service. They are very accommodating for anyone with
food intolerances or allergies as well and always go above and beyond to make your fine dining experience an exceptional one. They are always consistent in gourmet food and services for both the outdoor dining experience with live music and stunning views as well as the indoor dining.
We enjoyed walks around the well maintained gardens and grounds of this beautiful spa and resort which make any hotel stay here tranquil and relaxing. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a peaceful, place to stay with beautiful views and fine dining for your next vacation.
