Villaggio Il Gabbiano

This resort checked every box. From the food, to the service, scenery, rooms, and atmosphere. We absolutely did not want to leave this place and will be returning.
The rooms were maintained daily, cleaned and swept. Towels fresh.
You can always find something different to try on the menu and plenty for kids. They have a small deli section for lunch if you wanted something different. Sandwiches and some different pizzas.
Breakfast was always a highlight because the coffee and fresh food everything was a great way to start the day
The staff and entertainment crew worked so hard to put a smile on everyone’s face, made things personable, and made sure your needs were taken care of. Plenty of entertainment for all ages.
The pool was super clean.

It was very nice 'start season' stay in this beautiful place. 2-bedroom apartment with sea view is gorgeus, spacious rooms, has everything you need in kitchen.
Sea was great even on the beginning of May as well as the pool. There were enough sunbeds for everyone. 22C was enough to get burn, use sun cream :-)
Perfect breakfast more sweet than salty with great options of croissants, cakes and fresh fruits, but eggs and bacon is available as well. But I would prefer them to finish later than until 9:30 (we had to have alarm on every morning). But most other places/restaurants in capo vaticano was still closed.
Also 'next door' there were preparations for the season that made noise some mornings (but this depends on location of your apartment and time of stay). Overall it was one of the best vacations we had as family. Thank you so much. It was worth to go there 2000km :)

Family Trip – A Dream GetawAy

We recently spent a week at Villaggio il Gabbiano (April 25 – May 3) on a family holiday with our parents and two couples. We stayed in Rooms 8 Bis and 03, both offering stunning sea views and full board. Simply put—it was an absolute dream.

The beach is reminiscent of the Maldives—crystal clear waters and soft sand—while the village itself is immaculate, with a beautifully maintained garden that reflects true attention to detail.

The restaurant is of exceptional quality, with elegant presentation and dishes that rival high-end establishments. We found ourselves comparing the experience to our favorite five-star hotel in Torino, which features two restaurants one of them a Michelin-starred restaurant—though of course, at a completely different price point. The cuisine at Villaggio il Gabbiano truly surprised us.

A heartfelt mention must go to Domenico and Massimo in the restaurant. Their kindness, warmth, and attentiveness transformed each meal into a memorable experience. I am sorry I do not remember the names of the other colleague who prepared a stunnig "cake" for my mothers in law birthday in 5 mins, thank you! As we left for the airport, it felt like we were saying goodbye to family.

The bar was equally impressive. Excellent value, generous aperitivo offerings, and expertly prepared drinks—especially their Spritz, which became a daily indulgence.

If we may offer a single constructive suggestion: a mattress topper would be appreciated by those of us who prefer softer beds—though of course, this is a personal preference.

Speaking of comfort, the sun loungers by the pool were so comfortable we even snapped a photo of the brand to buy them for our home!

Thank you to the entire Villaggio il Gabbiano team for an unforgettable stay. We cherished every moment.

The hotel is located directly on the beautiful beach, with clear water. We had a room which was rather new, so it was nice and comfortable. There is discreet entertainment, which is completely ok.
However, as non-Italian speaking tourists we had some negative experiences. Especially in the restaurant and at the bar we were mostly served in an unfriendly manner. The leader of the unfriendliness is the older gentleman with almost no hair. It seems that only he is authorised to take orders and allocate tables to guests. Orders are then taken in a snippy manner. He may also look into the distance while you are talking to him. What's amusing is that he can change his personality within seconds, joking around with guests (mostly Italian-speaking) and being courteous.

We are real guests from Czechia. We are quite demanding guests. Hotel was big surprise within Calabria. Nice staff, perfect location, room, beach, hotel equipment etc. We guess its not suitable for the smallest children. We only had dinner once but it was ok. It is possible to visit nearby restaurants, which are many, but a car is needed.

nice hotel directly at the beach, from the room to the pool its probably 25 meters and another 10 meters to the beach, excellent facilities to relax, good breakfast, parking directly at the hotel (50 meters), beautiful sea to snorkel and with some luck you will see the Stromboli. rooms come with a spacious terrace (at least our). nice entertainement team as well - I liked the Salsa teacher

We stayed at Borgo Donna Campora and were associated with a seagull as a guide. We had a great time. Excellent value for money. Attentive and helpful staff, the camphor female structure is truly beautiful and well thought out. Easy access to the sea thanks to constant inland transport by golf-style electric cars. It feels like it's in the Italian Caribbean, outside and in very well maintained gardens, a very nice infinity pool overlooking the sea, sunset and Stromboli. Very beautiful private sea and beach with diving service and efficient taxi boat. Vertex!!

What can I say... EXCELLENT from all points of view! Spacious and spotless room. Professional, welcoming and very attentive staff. Maitre di Sala (Massimo) “saint”: He satisfied all the requests of our three-year-old daughter without hesitation! The best nutrition: raw materials are used (excellent quality, about 10 km0) with the care and technique inherent in a television program. The greenery was cared for like in a tropical paradise. I could point out infinitely positive elements. Thank you thank you thank you! Ps.: these animated pranksters, always polite and never intrusive, made us spend hours with real joy. Thanks to Leo, Antonio, Federica and all the staff! Ps: try the Giuseppe cocktail at the bar. You won't regret it.

We have stayed for a week in august, I've rarely had such a relaxing experience and great beach vacation in Europe!

🎨 True professionals have worked on the design and landscaping of this "Seagull" hotel. Even with the occupancy of 200 guests, we didn't feel overcrowded.

🏖️ The beach is very spacious, you never fight to find an umbrella and a sun chair, it is included in the hotel price (true luxury in Europe)! Plenty of chilling spaces outside to enjoy the beautiful view. Enjoying the starry sky at the beach at night topped it up! A remark : constant reggaeton music at the bar spoils the calm a bit (I found the South Italy too noisy, in general), but you can always find a further spot.

🏡The Garden view house was lovely, with a private terrase, but the 20+ sq m room felt a bit small for a couple with a child. Bigger appartments were occupied and anyway too expensive for us.

🌊 We were lucky with the weather, the sea was perfect the 5 days, turquoise, cristalline water, stormy only at the end.

🏓 It was not a problem for us to stay on premises - the beautiful sea, the pool and activites (table tennis, petanque, darts, aqua gym, evening shows... proposed by animators for adults and kids) were more than enough for us. And it is not "cheezy" as in other hotels with animation. The English fluency though could be improved.

🚴You can take their bikes (check the tires! and functioning) and ride towards the lighthouse Faro where the views of Capo Vaticano will take your breath away!

🚆You can also visit Tropea. Cheaper option is by train from Ricadi station - ask to take electric cart up to the road and then a short walk to the station.

🍽️ The meals at the restaurant (we payed half board : breakfast 8-10 and dinner 20-22) were excellent! Tasty veggie buffet and you can choose the main dishes from the menu (it is included).

⭐ The vibe with the guests is that of a 5-star hotel.
