Turquoise Hotel

I visit hotels in Jordan frequently and for a 4 star rated hotel, this was the worst experience I have ever had. I travelled with 2 of my male co-workers as part of a tour group. Upon my arrival the reception proceeded to tell my co-workers how they are not to go to my room and I must stay out of theirs. He did this in Arabic thinking that I would not understand. He also did this in front of all the other guests from the tour group. I have never been so humiliated in my life. Just because I am a woman traveling with male co-workers. If this is the rules of the hotel I am sure there is a way of pointing this out without humiliating the woman in question. You do not know me and have no right to judge a person or make assumptions. Even though they apologized, the damage was done. I then proceeded to my room. I was one person and was put in a room with 4 beds with hardly any walking space. The room was so dirty that I could not use the fridge or see clearly out the window. 2 Of the beds were not made and the 4th bed did not even have a mattress and there was no towels. The manager was very eager to resolve this and got someone in to clean the room. I however asked if they could move me and I was even willing to pay extra but this did not happen. Upon my return to the room the room was cleaner (except the windows). Later that evening I realized that the room had no remote for the Aircon, it had no safe for my personal belongings and I could not take a shower because there was no holder for the shower nozzle. I had to hold it myself with my hand. I am sorry to say that this was not just one problem but the complete experience was a disgrace. I will not recommend this hotel not as a 4 star rated hotel.
