Vytautas Mineral SPA

I'm currently enjoying a stay at Vytautas Mineral SPA in Birštonas, Lithuania, traveling with a friend, and I must say my overall impression of the hotel is very positive. The property definitely lives up to a high standard in many respects, making it an attractive destination for relaxation and rejuvenation. The hotel offers a wide range of SPA facilities, which are truly excellent. The pools, saunas, and availability of various treatments allow for complete relaxation and regeneration. The service is generally professional and helpful, and the cleanliness in most areas of the hotel deserves commendation. Its location in Birštonas is also a big plus, providing a peaceful environment conducive to rest. The very significant drawback for me as a spa hotel which unfortunately cast a shadow on the overall experience, was the bathrobes provided in the room. Their condition was, to put it mildly, terrible, which is quite surprising for an establishment of this caliber. I spoke with the hotel manager about this. I received only the information that new bathrobes had been ordered and a directive to rep-lace my bathrobe with a new one, without a single word of apology. Such an approach, while technically resolving the issue (the bathrobe was replaced), is unfortunately disappointing and shows a lack of empathy from the manager. In a hotel aspiring to be "high-end," such details significantly impact guest comfort and their feeling of being cared for. It really impact my experience at the hotel since I have been a regular guest for more than about 10 years.

TRAGEDY. First, we were given probably the smallest room in the entire hotel. We thought, well, we won’t be spending much time in it, so it’s not a big deal. But we had no idea that the bed would be only 140 cm wide for two people. The pillows were old, worn out, and small. The sound insulation was nonexistent – we could constantly hear someone walking above us. In the morning, kids were running and screaming in the corridor, and no one was stopping them. The shower in the room was a disaster – when you turned on the water, it squeaked and sprayed in all directions, as if it was taking its last breath. The dispensers for shower gel and shampoo were broken. The carpet was in terrible condition. The spa area had a pool with two swimming lanes, one overcrowded jacuzzi, and another small pool that was empty because the water was cold. On the first day, out of four saunas, one was out of order. The spa area was far too small for the number of guests – it was impossible to relax, with kids screaming like wild animals and jumping into the pool onto people’s heads. I didn’t even see a lifeguard or any staff member supervising to keep the kids in check. The only good thing about this hotel was the breakfast. But since we couldn’t get a good night’s sleep or relax, we decided not to stay for the second night and went home instead. At the reception, the staff member only asked if we were leaving because of their service. We explained that it wasn’t the staff’s fault but rather the hotel itself, where the price-to-quality ratio was completely unreasonable. The receptionist didn’t even ask what went wrong or try to fix anything—she just said, “You had a voucher, so you still need to pay extra.” It’s strange when no effort is made to understand the issues or improve the experience. The total cost of the stay was €330, which is a lot, especially considering there are many much better places available for less. We will never return and definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

The food is poor, the rooms are average, the bathrobes are torn. When I got food poisoning, they didn't apologize or provide any help. All I heard from the reception was evasiveness and wasting my time without admitting my fault. I don't recommend it!
