Palazzo Bifora in Mdina

Let me first say that we didn't stay at this beautiful boutique hotel, but we did pop in for lunch in their rooftop terrace restaurant and we did look around the inside of the hotel.
And I'm so glad we did!
This is tucked away in one of the smaller streets in the citadel of Mdina and genuinely feels like a hidden gem of a place.
The rooftop terrace can be reached by a lift and has a number of tables arranged around a pretty plung pool.
If you've been walking around the walled city, which used to be Malta's capital, it's a wonderful place to take a break and enjoy a drink and some excellent food.
The interior is beautiful and has been designed to deliver maximum calm space in a quite small building.
The design is well thought out and decorated in pastel colours.
A spiral staircase takes you up to the suites which are around an atrium with a lovely skylight.
Service was excellent, friendly and attentive.
The food was delicious, freshly prepped and had we not already had a restaurant booked for the evening back in Sliema, we'd have definitely ordered a lot more!
The wine list is good and not unreasonably priced.
But the thing that really makes this place special is the ambiance and the view across the rooftops from the terrace restaurant.
It's easy to miss this little gem, tucked away as it is, but do seek it out because you'll be glad you found it.

If you want to spend a magical time in Mdina, PLEASE visit this hotel. Priscila the manager is amazing, they will treat you like royalty!! The coffee is amazing and the breakfast is 10/10

I had an incredible experience at this hotel! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, making sure everything was perfect. The room was spotless, comfortable, and beautifully decorated, with an amazing view.

The breakfast was delicious with plenty of fresh options, and the hotel facilities like the pool and gym exceeded my expectations. The location is ideal, close to attractions and restaurants.

The magic of Mdina paired with world-class hospitality! A gem inside another jewel. Dinners at dusk are an experience worth killing for. Staff featuring top professionalism with a human touch. Recommended!

Great boutique hotel nestled in the narrow streets of Mdina. Food and service in the rooftop restaurant were fabulous in the evening (a bit slow for breakfast). Rooms comfy and decorated to a high standard with quality products. Perfect place to rest and relax.

We found this wonderful Boutique hotel and stopped in for a glass of wine in the Lumiera rooftop restaurant. The wine list is short but adequately comprehensive, as is the lunch menu. The food was superb and beautifully presented. The background music was perfectly in tune with the ambience Staff were excellent and attentive to all the guests. This boutique hotel is stunning.Everything is finished to a very high standard and very tastefully appointed. Our only regret was we were not staying here. Maybe next time.

We stayed for 3 nights in the Murina suite. The hotel is beautifully designed and well thought out. In a good location close to the side gate of Medina. Hotel was clean.

However, I do not recommend the add on breakfast option. It is not at all similar to the previous posts showing eggs benedict, fancy toasts, mentions of "Michelin chef", etc. The breakfast we were offered was extremely basic (scrambled eggs, toast, croissants). It was not worth the price at all and I would have rather spent my money on breakfast at a more inspired restaurant.
Also, be aware that the rooftop pool is located in the public rooftop restaurant, so you will not have privacy if lunch guests are dining while you are using the pool. The pool was out of service due to a maintenance issue during our stay anyway.

We couldn't be any happier with our stay at Palazzo Bifora. The room was spotlessly clean, the hotel staff was gracious and helpful, excellent restaurants are located nearby, and the beauty of Mdina (especially at night) was stunning.
