Reviews
Saddly we read the reviews AFTER we saw the cockroaches everywhere.
Our room was full of insect. Thousands of ants and unidentifieable insects. Cockroaches everywhere. Old rooms , furniture that is falling apart, ugly garden that was propably cleaned last decade.
After reading the reviews i think they have two standards. One nice rooms and second old ugly full of insects. Otherwise i don't know how they are getting 5 star reviews.
Some positives:
Reception looks almost luxury, very helpfull staff. Decent pool with sunbeds.
10minutes to beach
But the ugly old rooms full of cockroaches and other insects make your stay miserable. Dirty street.
Maybe they are trying but they desperately need investment. I mean insect traps are literally 0,10€ per piece. But seems like they don't care which is sad.
Im giving 2 stars for the staff and the pool. and its very well a stretch.
Iam glad we spent only one night becouse if we were to spend more i would just go somewhere else.
I could store my luggage in a storage room before the check-in hour, which was nice!
They have a nice pool which is, in my opinion, the strongest asset! They also have a restaurant and a bar, that it's not only for the hotel, where the prices were okay and the girls working at the bar were lovely!
The room had a functioning air conditioning! Big plus for that!
The reception was okay in terms of communication! They understood and accepted our request to do a late check-out.
Now things that were not so okay..
Despite they offer an everyday room cleanliness, when they offer also clean towels and arrange also the bed sheets, I have to say that the whole place itself is quite dirty and dusty. Only the reception and the bar were looking okay, but once you were going inside of the private area of the hotel, it was getting bad. Dead cockroaches outside and inside of the building. The sunchairs were stained with a disinfectant solution, thing that they do daily but they don't clean the solution itself after, which makes the sunbeds look dirty.
The room was for 3 people and it was lacking a trash bin, hanger for clothing, hangers in the wardrobe. There was also a hole in the balcony door, for air conditioning I suppose.
The bathroom was looking super old, used and dirty. The shower head was stuck in its own place and couldn't be used properly. No window or ventilation inside of it, which makes the humidity and warmth of the showers staying there or, even worse, coming in the room.
The door was always hard to open, needing to push it hard while unlocking it.
Not all of the light bulbs were working.
No issues with the hotel at all.
Reception staff were all extremely friendly and helpful.
The room was clean, also the bathroom was clean.
Housekeeping staff both in public areas, and on the 2 occasions I met room service maid were all polite and a credit to the business.
As the hotel restaurant was closed the adjacent Molly Malone bar next door is where I had breakfast..
This is where the issues arose..
Two choices... Full English, or omelette...
Day one full English.. deep fried everything..
Day 2 omelette.... Two egg omelette with ham and cheese, nicely presented folded in half then half again to look like a crepe!!
Garnish was 1 Cos lettuce leaf with two slices of tomato..
Both breakfasts where priced at €7.50
Has a two egg omelette won't fill up a child I had the breakfast for the rest of the week.
On last day, Sunday morning breakfast turned up as usual but the fried egg was extra well done, and the underside of egg tasty burnt.. ordinarily I would have ordered a new breakfast, but due to the chef turning up 15 minutes late (8-15) and an early transfer to airport I did not have time to reorder.
I reported this to the reception staff..
Holiday was mid April..
Breakfast was yummy
