Casuarina Resort and Spa

We have been staying here for about 2 weeks.
Here are some things that I want to share with others so they know about it before booking here:
The location of the hotel is quite good, the nearby beach is really one of the best on Mauritius.
The hotel itself has a lot of room for improvement. We had an All-inclusive package booked. The food was ok. Often they had only indian or local food (very much sea food) and it was hard to find something that the children would like. The dining room itselfs was very dirty though. A lot of birds are flying around. They sometimes leave their stuff on the floor, chairs and tables. The employees don't always clean the stuff up. The chairs also are looking very dirty. The tables only are getting made up if you make a reservation. Otherwise you have to collect forks and knives from other tables around. Also the tables don't get cleaned properly after someone has been dining there. The birds have also been seen eating from the big spoons in front of the food containers which was very disgusting. The hotel does not seem to care about this.
Also very often the drink machine didn't work and e.g. Coke light was empty for most of the time and no one fixed it, even after telling them.
The salad has always been fresh though and was delicious. The regular Coke also was working fine, same for the beer that you had to tap yourself.

The drinks at the bar were acceptable, even though some cocktails were not really tasty. They used quite a lot of alcohol in the drinks. We have had better drinks, but also worse.

The room we had was ok, but not in the best shape. Stuff falling off, toilet flushing was a little slow and weak, furniture has been very much used. But it was ok overall. The bed was very small, smaller than 2,00m long for sure. Very odd for "normal" european people.

The room service didn't meet our expectations. They forgot to fill up the mini bar and even forgot to put in new towels. We had to complain every time to get towels.

Overall I can not recommend this hotel, the only reason we booked it was the price.

Location is maintained. Staff is very nice and makes an effort to help where they can. The resort's private beach opposite the complex is a huge bonus. Very good local fruit juice stand aside that beach!

The staffs are considerable and nice. The hotel needs an update for a modern look but maybe it's not what they are aiming for. It's not a beachfront hotel but the beach is just opposite of the road so their beach house for sea activity is on the other side of the road. It's a budget hotel don't expect too much. If you're in good fun company and you need to re-group it's not bad. It's okay to experience! 👌
