The hotel is beautiful. It’s a bit far from the city center though. The staff were helpful but not so friendly. The restaurants were good but did not offer traditional Malaysian cuisine. The pool area is gorgeous and relaxing.

Overall experience is great. Loved the bed and firm yet comfy pillows. Breakfast spread was great, with a pleasant surprise of fresh passion fruit. First room service experience here, western food and pizza come in huge portion and tasted great. Local delicacies were over priced though :P Would have given 5 star if the hotel could be more baby and kid friendly

Built in 1990 but has lost nothing of its charm. Rooms are well maintained, spacious and clean. A large pool with a relaxing outdoor area to sit down for a snack or drink is a nice place to be in the late afternoon or evening. Its proximity to the nearby golf course with all its greenery gives the hotel a laid back feeling.

Had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday here. I was not disappointed. The food is excellent especially the deserts. The romantic ambiance of the place with the songs played really sets the mood. The staff is very courteous. The view from The View is also nice. Loved the place!

There are cockroaches in the room, the room is not cleaned every day and the whole time I was here, the room was not cleaned.... there is no air freshener in the room and the condition of the electric cup and thermos is not very clean... tissues are also not provided.... overall not at all satisfying

Budget hotel so don't expect too much. Small and comfortable room. The aircond seriously need to upgrade because the air sometimes hot sometimes warm (set to cold not auto). The room walls are too thin so you can hear voices from other rooms next to you. I was having hard time to sleep because of voices from the other room. Overall it's okay for budget hotel. Had a pleasant family stay at Red Rock Hotel! Great location on Jalan Macalister, close to Penang’s famous hawker food. Our room was spacious and clean, though a bit dated. Well worth the price. The staff were friendly and welcoming, allowed us to check in late even after their counter was closed. Toilets were clean. Just have to deal with thin walls between beds. Floors are wooden so it can make a good amount of noise when walking. Not much can be done about snoring roommates and alarms in the morning. Hotel maintenance is very bad. But the charge is so high. The room environment is too hot even with 16 degrees of aircond at night. The photo shows everything so well and highly environment in the room, however when 1st step into the room, I totally regretted just trusting the photo blindly. As soon as you enter the main hall, you can feel a positive atmosphere of calm and serenity. The style is well-maintained. Clean rooms. Courteous and attentive staff. Fantastic location for all of central George Town! Easy access to everything. Backs directly on to the mosque, so if you're traveling with kids, get ready for an early start to the day. Comfortable beds. But the coffee sachets were not good (I love good coffee, and was definitely forced to the supermarket to buy an alternative for day 2.)
