Tune Hotel Georgetown Penang

Beware of your credit card information and double check if taxes/tourism fees already paid. When I checked in, the receptionist charged me for taxes/tourism fees. She wrote down my credit card information on a piece of paper which left me extremely uncomfortable. When I double checked my online booking and realized it was already paid for. When going back to the reception, they told me to come back 30 minutes later for a senior staff member. 30 minutes later, she processed the refund but the staff would not get rid of my credit card information they wrote down stating its hotel policy. I understand if a hold for the room is needed to be placed on the credit card, but it’s unusual to write the full credit card information down on paper. The cherry on top, they ran after me to the elevator to charge a local tourist tax of 8 ringgit. I used cash to pay it this time.

The room in Tune Hotel is decently clean. The AC and fan both work, though the fan control didn’t work. So the wall switch simply controlled whether it was on or off.

The hotel is super noisy from sources both inside and outside. I did not get a single good night of sleep. There is a mosque nearby and you can hear every time there is a prayer session. There are guests and staff members who are extremely noisy at all hours.

Lastly, it’s supposed to be a non smoking hotel. It’s not enforced well because you can smell someone has smoked in the hallways.

The worst hotel room I've ever been to. Just place for local workers, not for tourists. Very small rooms, about 4sq.m., but in the description of the room it is 11!! When you open a door it almost touches the bed, which takes up almost whole the room! There is no place for put your belongings, just two small bedside tables. Window is can't be closed normal. Only 1 (one) socket in the room, and the voltage is usually very low and not stable.
There are always bags of trash at the elevators zone, and from outside of the hotel you always can see clothes that are dried on the windows of the hotel.
Despite all this, they have a good shower , also you can refill drinking water in a lobby. You can use a fridge, microwave and a washer in a lobby. Stuff is very responsive and friendly.
