Hotel Chancellor at Orchard Road offers a convenient location with good reception service, but the room conditions and some customer service issues impacted the overall experience.

The check-in process was smooth, and the staff confirmed that we received good rooms. However, during our one-week stay, the rooms consistently smelled of dust, which was particularly troublesome for allergies. The main sources of dust seemed to be the curtains and carpets, which felt neglected in cleaning.

The bathroom, while small, was well designed to avoid water splashing outside the shower area, and the showerhead provided a satisfactory experience. Room service was very good and responsive throughout our stay.

One notable issue was a booking mix-up. Despite having made the booking in part, it was not properly recorded. Since we were away and had traveled far, our 16-year-old child had to resolve the issue by showing proof of our prior check-in, which was inconvenient and frustrating.

An odd aspect was a water filter fixed to the wall in the room, which gave off a somewhat institutional or elderly home vibe. The coffee and tea packets provided were disappointing and not reliable for a decent morning drink.

On the positive side, the hotel's location on Orchard Road is excellent, just a 10-minute walk to Dhoby Ghaut or Somerset MRT stations, making it very convenient for getting around Singapore.

Overall, Hotel Chancellor offers good service and location but could improve cleanliness and booking management to enhance the guest experience.

My whole experience was almost satisfying but there’s only few staff at the reception and most of them are old and not very active. Had to wait for long at the reception to check in and check out. After all that, I can feel the value for money at this Hotel.

On our second night here and I already thought this was my home. The staff are friendly and kind while the place is small it is really worth it to visit. Rooms are perfect even when small too. Location took us an hour to get here by taxi as well. Would visit here again someday :)

Came for a wedding, it’s quite an old hotel, but looks well preserved inside and outside. Had to drive another round to find out that the carpark was behind, instead of what the initial sign said to turn in (which leads to the drop-off point).

No motorcycle parking in this hotel, so might need to park at nearby buildings, maybe Holiday Inn is the nearest.

We recently stayed in Chancellor for 3 nights n had a wonderful experience. Nice location n very well connected by bus n metro service . Chk in n chk out was hassle-free all the staff was very cooperative. Breakfast was tasty n had enough varieties for pure vegetarians like us. Rooms were decent n well maintained. Overall had a pleasant stay.

The rooms only provide bath towels. No shower cap no comb. The hot and cold water is direct from a waterlilies machine which is hygienic. The hotel does not provide complementary parking for guests. So parking charges can be almost that of the room price, something foe malaysia friends that id driving over to take note.

The hotel is generally average — it provides the bare essentials for a short stay. However, the cleanliness was unacceptable. I found a used bottle in the bathroom, which made it clear the room hadn’t been properly cleaned after the previous guest. That alone really affected my impression. On top of that, the air-conditioning was barely working — it was so warm in the room that I couldn’t sleep well. There was also no phone in the room to contact the front desk or request any assistance, which was inconvenient. The check-in process was quite slow as well. It’s not the worst place to stay, but the lack of cleanliness and poor air-conditioning made it hard to feel comfortable.

Although the hotel is rather old and in need of a renovation, the location is fantastic with close to restaurants, shopping malls and public transport.
