Karon Phunaka Resort

The staff are very welcoming and very attentive to our needs. There was always someone available at the front desk for questions and concerns. Beach transportation was very convenient. Most definitely the best pool with a view in Phuket. The swim up bar is icing on the cake!

Oddly there were zero reviews talking about the stairs and amount of walking you'll end up doing while staying here. 8 different buildings on 8 different levels all on different grades. Being in my 30's, I'm able to walk these massively inclined stairs, but no matter what shape you're in, you're sweating by the time you get back to your room. We had 11 people staying here, all of us in a different building. very tough gathering us all together with the resort being so large. They do offer golf cart transportation, but it's more sporadic than they think. Also, rides aren't offered while it's raining. This weekend we saw a lot of people walking the very steep inclines and stairs. There's no way an older couple would be able to stay here. The Grab/Taxi transportation won't even drive you up the hill to the entrance. They park at the bottom and make you walk up with your luggage.

Beach transportation runs from 10am-5pm. Very convenient being picked up and dropped off! Beach was very clean with plenty of sand to lay out on, or lounge chairs if you fancy 100b recliner and umbrella! 7/11 located right across the street  from the beach for easy snacks and refreshments!

Only two reasons for the four star instead of the five was the odor in the rooms.. We had 11 people staying here all at the same time, and we all had the same sewage smell in our rooms. Luckily we always travel with a Bath & Body Works spray, so we were able to keep the odor to a minimum. Second reason for not getting the five star was their room key inconvenience. I've never heard of a key card system that only allows "one" key per room, and I work in this industry. We all were traveling with our spouses and were told we were only allowed to have one card. Very big inconvenience considering a few people got sick and had to stay in their rooms to recover. That means in order for them to have electricity, they need to keep the one key card. Since they are sick, they most likely will be sleeping, which means we have to wake them up to get out of bed and unlock the door, or you wait for someone in house keeping our an engineer to let you in.

This was our second day at this hotel, and we will probably be back despite a few obstacles. I like being just a little bit out of the town. However, there are some steep hills to negotiate when walking into an out of town. The property is on a steep hillside. Calf muscles get a good work out.
The hotel staff were very helpful, the view from our room and balcony was wonderful, and a breakfast was a great start to the day.

We stayed here for 5 nights and our room was very spacious and clean. Someone came everyday and changed our towels and made our bed. The staff were really nice and helpful. We really enjoyed the pool and the food they served there. The location was great only a short walk from the shops and beach. The view from our room was amazing… you could see the big Buddha and the ocean. We used the shuttle service which dropped you off at the beach and you told them what time to pick you up, which was great! All around very good!

Stayed here for almost two weeks and felt very comfortable from the start.

The room is nice and spacious with a big balcony and lovely sea views. The resort offers a delicious breakfast buffet with your choice of eggs, any style. Amazing pool area, decent gym and lovely staff.

Would very much recommend. Really enjoyed our stay here.

We got to experience beautiful sea view and side glimpse of Big buddha from our balcony. The room was clean n welcoming. Very professional and friendly staff, always ready to be at your service.

This hotel is a bit away from the centre, but the views you get from the pool and all the rooms are amazing.
The hotel has “golf carts” and they will give you ride to your room if you want to. Which was nice, because some rooms are by foot a bit far from receptions.
They also provide free shuttle bus to the beach every hour from 10:00 to 17:00. We used this service few times, it was fine, but it would be great to have this opportunity also after 17:00.
Rooms are spacious, but old - it looked better in pictures than in the reality. I would describe it as “not great not terrible” experience. One thing that bothered me the most was the uncomfortable mattress.
Breakfast buffet offers a wide selection of thai and european food. Egg dishes were freshly made.
Staff was always very nice and friendly.

Had an 8 day stay here. Good location on hill provides stunning views of the area. Rooms very good. Perfectly functional with everything you need. Breakfast good selection of fruits, cereals, etc. Not a huge cooked selection but that was fine for us. Pool area / infinity pool never too busy. Beach only 15mins walk away or courtesy bus on the hours for drop off and pick up. Had a cooking class. Great fun. In all the staff were excellent from the cleaning staff, reception staff so helpful and friendly, breakfast crew excellent. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Would recommend to stay.
