Paradise KohYao - SHA Extra Plus

Lets start with the positive things: We stayed for three nights, had a warm welcome and everyone from the staff was very friendly and spoke english, beautiful landscape and resort, amazing breakfast and the extra services such as a boat trip to another little island and the yoga class (which was the best I ever had) were very well organized and fun. Our room was also great and we felt comfortable.

Now the negatives: The resort is secluded, as my travel companion and I like to explore the island and not only stay in the resort, we rented a motorbike. There is a 2km dirtroad which we had to take each time to and from the hotel which is horrible, lots of stones, water pits and dangerous. The resort also stated in their welcoming letter that they don’t recommend taking the road, but the alternative is either to stay only at their place and buy overpriced and not good food (breakfast is as stated good, the rest not and very small portions) or take their transfer which is very expensive if you want to explore / go out daily.

On the last day I had a motorbike accident on this dirt road, just a couple meters away from the entrance and several wounds because of it, leading to an infection despite taking safety measures and a interesting visit to the local doctor to cut out some parts and more… I will not go into detail further. Of course this is not the fault of the resort. I just don’t understand why they would make this a real road / improve its safety on their own expense, it cost so much money to stay there, but maybe they want rather to sell the overpriced food as people are dependent on it and use their transfer.

To conclude, the experience in the resort was good, but for our need of going outside and see an island, instead of staying only there, I would not recommend and visit.
