Reviews
We had a family cave suite with pool; but in retrospect the pool room didn’t work for us. It was too humid for us to use as a living room, and the pool was too cold for us to enjoy dipping in it. Nevertheless, the restored architecture made our stay magical. The staff, specially Ertugrul, was so wonderful and did everything they could to make sure we have a pleasant stay. The town where the hotel is located is lovely with many dining actions and excellent access to all major attractions. We were happy to stay in a quiet town that has a lot to offer but in the meantime kept our distance from other crowded neighboring touristic towns.
The breakfast buffet was not at the same level of excellence as the rest of the hotel amenities and it was just OK. I will give everything about the hotel 5 stars but the breakfast buffet gets 2 to 3 stars from me. Regardless, I still highly recommend this wonderful hotel.
However, we did have a few issues with the hotel. The service overall was poor. When we first arrived, an intimidating lady dictated the tours that the hotel offered which was definitely not a warm welcome. In general the reception staff weren’t very eager to help. The day staff at the pool were also disinterested. The dinner staff were more friendly but did struggle with English. This was unlike any of our other hospitality experiences in Turkey.
We were also disappointed with the rooms. The rooms were a bit outdated and dark. We recognise that they were attempting to go for a traditional aesthetic but they sacrificed the luxuries required in a 5 star hotel. We also had issues with the number of towels and availability of toilet roll which really didn’t make it feel 5 star. Another area which could really be improved would be to provide more complimentary water given the temperatures in summer ( a prerequisite for a hotel of this price).
The music at the pool was also too loud for us to properly relax.
Overall we were very disappointed with the hotel given the high price point and poor service.
We also asked for 30mins extra check out and they declined the request. Saying you have to pay extra and a person came to our door to ask us to leave.
I will never recommend this hotel as it has no activities close by and the service is no where close to the price they charge. ‘Pathetic’.
To start off, the staff was a bit churlish. For a boutique hotel, a smiling staff and a friendly welcome is expected by guests who have paid good money. At one point, we were hesitant to ask for room services or buggies. A little courteousness never hurt anybody. I would not like to take names but Ms Nihal, the director of the travel company displayed callous behaviour. We had enquired about a city tour and since her prices didn’t match with our budget, we were open to negotiations. However, she snubbed us off and told us to go book it from cheaper websites online. We did do that and were satisfied with our experience. We would’ve taken her tour but weren’t interested in accepting her gracious favour.
The breakfast spread had room for improvement too for some fruits were rotten. The lunch & dinner we had on the other hand was delectable.
Ms Duygu was the only kind face I came across. She was patient to answer all our queries.
The concept and architecture of the property is out of the world. Even our taxi driver (a local) told us that we were going to be staying at one of the best but I’d like to shift my opinion a little now, taking into account the things mentioned above.
Excellent service
Excellent rooms
Internet is an issue though.. specially in the rooms.. it’s very weak and can’t do any browsing or work.. that’s the only issue
