Club Wyndham Austin

I stayed here previously in October 2022 and thought this was a fantastic Wyndham location and the staff was wonderful. I felt lucky as Worldmark and Club Wyndham owner that I would be able to stay here for future visits to Austin. My vacation this past weekend was the complete opposite and I’m honestly not sure if I ever want to stay there again. I arrived at 4:15 PM, which is 15 minutes after the scheduled check-in time of 4:00 PM and I was told my room wasn’t ready. I can understand maybe a 15-30 minute wait but the staff told me it was going to take approximately an hour and a half for my room to be ready. I booked a Studio Deluxe, it’s a small room and it really shouldn’t have taken that long to get this type of room ready. It wasn’t a big festival weekend in Austin either. The front desk staff person I spoke to, I believe she had pink hair, didn’t show any empathy towards me and when I asked her if there was anywhere I could wait. She gave me a key card to the owners lounge on the 10th Floor. The owners lounge in this location doesn’t leave much to be desired. The TV wasn’t on and I couldn’t locate the remote. They have a filtered water station. At least at other Club Wyndham owners lounges there’s a coffee machine. When I called the front desk at 5:30 PM, they said my room still wasn’t ready. I told them I would be down there at 6 PM and a room had better be ready by then because I had plans at 7 PM. When I showed up at 6 PM they tried telling me again that my room wasn’t ready and I really got upset and they called their housekeeping staff and somehow a room was ready. They handed me a key card and that was it. There were no apologies, no “sorry for the inconvenience, is there anything else I can help with…” Nothing. When a different staff member approached me to hand me the wristband style key card, they didn’t say any kind of welcoming words to me or provide the gift bag that has snacks and bottled water and local restaurant recommendations and etc. I’m a Club Wyndham VIP Owner. Every Club Wyndham location I’ve stayed at has provided received excellent service. When I checked out on Sunday, the staff there didn’t even bother to ask if I had a pleasant stay. Seriously, has this staff received any kind of hospitality training? I’ve gotten better service at a Motel 6 than what I had from this stay. Club Wyndham owners need to be aware that this Austin location is not representative of how other Club Wyndham locations are.
