Club Wyndham Clearwater Beach Resort

Let me start by saying we have stayed at the Club Wyndham Clearwater Beach several times and enjoyed every stay. But this visit has been very disappointing. After we checked into a two bedroom unit, I noticed the living room carpet was drenched. Not damp, literally soaking wet. So I contacted the front desk and they sent engineering up right away. He checked the AC unit but couldn't find the source of the water. He decided to send someone up the next day with an air blower. But in the meantime, housekeeping dropped off extra towels so we could try and absorb most of the water. I explained we were six guests and one couple would be sleeping on the pull out sofa in the living room. Not knowing where the water was coming from, I was concerned water would continue to flood the unit. And there was definitely a mildew or moldy smell in the unit. So after he left I went down to the front desk and asked if they could move us to another unit. I was told no because engineering was taking care of it. Well, let me tell you after a long day of traveling, stomping on bath towels to dry out a water logged carpet is not my idea of a vacation. The engineer did call me back to let me know that he had found a maintenance report that stated our unit (#576) had been accidentally flooded by a repairman working on the AC unit three days prior. So let's recap. WYNDHAM knew the carpet was not just wet but flooded. They knew because they took the unit out of inventory for three days. No one thought to check if the carpet was dry before checking us in. It took 8 hours the next day to dry out the carpet with the blower. And Wyndham offered no compensation for the inconvenience. Tomorrow we check out. So what prompted me to write this review now. I called this morning and got a late check out for 11am instead of 10am. But after dinner, I stopped by the front desk after realizing tomorrow we set our clocks ahead and wanted to ask if we could check out at noon. The front desk person (didn't get his name) said he was rescinding all late check-outs. I was shocked and totally confused since I had called earlier. But he claimed he was in charge and had instructed his staff to decline all late check-out requests. Okay, I argued but someone did tell me I could check out at 11am. He said 10:30am, take it or leave it. You'd think management would take this opportunity to make things right with this simple request but obviously they really do not care about guest satisfaction.
