Renaissance Fort Lauderdale Cruise Port Hotel

I am rating this hotel in service a 1 star because of a prejudice staff member named Julian the so called “front desk manager.” After my check in, we went upstairs to drop off our luggage with the dolly after that my husband went downstairs to drop off the dolly. Once he was downstairs, he was wandering around and checking the hotel’s amenities and Julian came up to him and asked if he needed help with anything. My husbands reply was no everything is fine. Julian stepped away but not happy with the response my husband gave him, he confronted him again and this time he asked to see his key which my husband did not have at the moment. With a bad attitude, the front desk manager asked so how are you going to get inside the room which my husband replied my wife is upstairs waiting for me. With an even worse attitude, he told my husband, “ okay I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt” and stepped away. My husband then asked him twice for his name which he refused to give both times so my husband went to the front desk and asked to speak with the manager which he replied I am the manager and after asking for a third time for his name, he finally told my husband his name is Julian. My husband is a Mariott Associate at another hotel and we are very disappointed. We were planning on staying for more nights but left after just one night because this is unacceptable. As an advice, you should train your front desk manager Julian better on profiling people. Thank you.

Let me preface with this. I have worked in the hospitality industry for years, as a project manager and a front desk agent. The Customer Service and everything at this Hotel is the Lowest Standard that exists on planet earth and i mean that.

I showed up at check-in and Tanisha wouldn't even acknowledge me. I asked if they had a luggage cart i could use to bring to my luggage in, She rudely responded with "go over there, Someone over there will help you with that". Not "Hello, Welcome to our Marriott. I'd gladly assist you with that". Okay, this is my first time here how am i supposed to know that.

I inquired about room service. Tanisha stated they have a restaurant and that I'd have to order the food and come get it myself. Never in the history of my hotel stay have i ever had to order room service and go downstairs to get the food myself.

So i decided instead to order my food via Doordash. I was on a business call in my room when Tanisha called to inform me that she blocked my food at the front desk under the pretense of safety reason and that I have to go pick up my food downstairs.

I, a guest, should have to leave my business call to go pick up my food downstairs. They couldn't let the Doordash person up or find another staff to bring the food upstairs.

This is a sad excuse of a hotel with a sad excuse of a staff. If your staff in this case Tanisha is so unhappy with her life, she shouldn't be allowed to work the front desk where first impressions actually makes a difference.

I know what the Marriott values are and this Staff doesn't practice the standards.

I am extremely disappointed in Tanisha. I am checking out tomorrow to go stay somewhere else with higher standards.

There is no way this hotel should have any decent reviews! Are we all staying in the same place? I rarely give bad reviews and I travel often. This hotel is disgusting, old, and there’s really nothing positive about it. First the check in — one person to check you in with 10 guests waiting. Other workers milling about instead of jumping in to help with check-in. The fitness center is a closet. The rooms are so old that even my grandmother would find them dated. Toilet running constantly. Sink not draining. Gross shower curtains, not to mention the shower head that has more gunk in it than a sewer pipe. The coffee situation is abysmal. The parking is absolutely insane at $30/day when there’s thousands of free parking spots nearby but they have a deal with towing company to tow you if you are a hotel guest. It would be one thing if this was $150/night. I would expect low quality but charging $300/night for this $@&!hole is unacceptable. Honestly, this hotel is an absolute disgrace to the Marriott brand. I’m Gold Elite w Marriott and have never been at a worse property. Find yourself a Motel8 and you will be better off.
