Reviews
Pros:
-Midtown location is central to many great restaurants, sightseeing opportunities, bars, and theaters
-Hotel employees were friendly
-Lobby was clean
-Room was small but neat
Cons:
-Elevators take forever. We were on the 4th floor so we ended up taking the stairs most of the time
-Despite setting the thermostat as low as it could go (66°), it never got below a stale 70°. I run warm at night, but even my partner said it was too hot to sleep
-The bathroom was roomy enough, but for some reason there was zero storage in there for toiletries. I ended up dragging in a small table from the room just so I had a place to keep my toiletry bag, flat iron, and toothbrush. The sink had no edges so there was no place to rest a makeup bag. The washcloths and hand towels were hung right next to, as in inches from, the toilet, which meant after one flush of the toilet (even with seat down) they were no longer anything I'd want to use to wash my face or dry my hands. There was no place to hang a wet towel except on the curtain rod, so it looked very sloppy in there. There was no makeup mirror and the lighting wasn't good for applying makeup. Finally, the bathroom door: it slid back and forth like a barn door, which means it couldn't be securely shut and was very easy to hear through. Instead of being solid wood, it was opaque glass, so if the person using the bathroom at night flipped on the light, it flooded the whole bedroom with light. Our room was on an alley and had a frosted glass window to the outside, so there was very little light entering the room that way. That means it was pointless to put a bathroom door with a window. Finally, there was no way to shut the door without it banging against the frame, so between that and the bathroom light shining out, everyone woke up when the bathroom was being used
-Being on the alley, 2 of the 3 nights the building resident opposite us had parties with flashing lights and booming music, made worse by them propping open their fire escape door
I've stayed at several Midtown hotels and while you could do worse, you could also do a lot better
His empathy and professionalism were evident from the start. He listened to our situation with genuine care, and worked diligently to find us a room, even though we had no prior reservation at this property. Mo turned what could have been a ruined trip into an absolutely seamless experience. His attentiveness and dedication to making sure we were comfortable left a lasting impression.
Thanks to Mo, we were able to enjoy our weekend without any further worry, and we are deeply grateful for his outstanding service. Marriott Vacation Club is lucky to have such an exceptional associate on their team. If you’re staying here, you’re in great hands with Mo!
Good location for the walk or subway to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Bryant Park-Library, and High Line.
Reception staff were very attentive and helpful. Clean rooms and excellent service. The hotel hosted an afternoon event each day; one pizza party and another Katz's deli fare.
Nice view of the upper floors of the Empire State Building.
Good access to a variety of restaurants.
Good value.
Left some clothes in the closet and am awaiting a reply from the "Lost & Found".
Enjoyed the stay!
We took the free tour offer and our guide Hector going to the 9-11 Memorial was insightful, engaging, and very mindful of everything from the NYC heat, subway crowds, and our time. I recommend a guided tour if you've never been in the city.
Room was cramped for two adults with two older kids but we managed to get cozy. It's about being comfortable in the big city and with great food options within walking distance a plus. Also everything was well kept and clean to go along with a great staff.
