Hotel Pennsylvania
New York, 401 7th Avenue 🧭 Map
This hotel was a HUGE disappointment. The staff is rude, not really willing to help the clients and the rooms are far from good. Unfortunately is a perfectly-located place with a terrible service.
Great for the price! Check in was abysmally slow, but other than that service was good. Beds were comfortable but a bit squeaky. Bathroom was very basic and the tub had no drain stopper and was peeling. But it served my purpose well. All I wanted was an inexpensive and clean place to sleep and I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel.

Hudson New York
New York, 358 West 58th Street 🧭 Map
Flew in from Vegas for a overnight stay before heading to Rome. Location is perfectly situated right between hells kitchen and Columbus circle. Hotel is cute, staff friendly, rooftop bar that we heard so much about and seen in pictures was under construction which was a bummer. Extra facilities fee when checking out for the gym we never used which they then waived. Room was small but then again your...
This hotel was an interesting experience. My room was fine, though extremely small, even by Manhattan standards. There was a quirky window that looked from the shower into the room and there was minimal lightning. The room was seriously dark. My room was fine however and the bath products were very nice and a brand that I like. There were other areas of the hotel that had maintenance issues however...
Loved the location, the quirky design. Some guests might not be thrilled by the zero privacy bathroom, if you're sitting on the toilet you are on full display to any other guests in your room because of the giant glass wall, but I was alone so no big deal. Outside is blank, a brown wall. Escalator takes you up to an ultra modern spacious lobby with subdued lighting and cozy spaces. Room was...
Cool vibe but looks like it is a little run down. A few of their elevators were down which resulted in long wait times. When asked about the elevators the staff denied that any were not working. Room service did a good job but didn't replace paper cups for water, no glass or plastic cups provided.
The breakfast buffet was expensive and not that great, more like a continental breakfast that is usually...
I'm a native New Yorker and I love to visit the bars at this hotel. They each have a different feel. My favorite is the Library bar with fire place and leather couches. Cocktails are pricey, but delicious. You' re paying for the atmosphere. In the warm months there's an outdoor space and a bar/grill to provide for beverage and culinary needs. Check it out.
Great location for the price. Close to Central Park, Broadway theaters, and Hell's Kitchen restaurants and bars. Pseudo-trendy. Responsive, professional staff. Negatives: teeny tiny rooms and bathrooms, showers never seem to work well (and I've stayed here many times), lots of street noise and HVAC noise, and elevators can take forever at times. I'm leaning 3-star but have to acknowledge that many...

Wellington Hotel
New York, 871 Seventh Avenue at 55th Street 🧭 Map
I really enjoyed my stay at the Wellington hotel.
The location is absolutely perfect close to all subway lines you could possibly need and even walking to Central Park and Times Square was very easy. The location for the price can't be beat.
The room was incredibly clean and well kept.
Staff was so nice and welcoming and helped me with any issue I had.
It was safe and I have no complaints at all....
I had a pleasant experience at Wellington. The staff was nice and friendly, the check in took around 15 minutes. The room was pretty small but cozy and very clean, the bathroom as well. Everything was shiny and fresh towels. Comfortable bed and really comfortable pillows that made me sleep like a lion :) The only reason I gave 4 stars is the thin walls, because I could easily hear the people next door...
Clean hotel with plenty of space right in the middle of the tourist atmosphere in Manhattan. Rates were fantastic for Thanksgiving! We were close to the parade route and were able to check our bags during the parade, and while site seeing during the day. We were extremely happy with the deluxe double double room, and even had 2 bathrooms, which made getting ready in the morning very easy! Would definitely...
Great value and location. Clean rooms and helpful staff. We checked in on Friday night and requested rooms on the same floor. Wasn't a problem. The elevators were slow and one got shut down during our stay. Overall great experience.
Friendly, helpful staff who looked after us well during our stay. Decor is a little dated but adds to the charm. Stayed in a two bedroom suite with two doubles, a single bed plus a microwave and fridge. Although the air con/heater was rather noisy the comfortable beds made up for it. Great location really close to times square and central park. Subway station outside and a starbucks across the road...
Excellent place to stay..10 minutes walk to Times Square -could see the video screens from our room..
Staff behind the desk helpful and friendly
Very reasonably priced rooms always cleaned every day by hotel staff..
No complaints at all and would definitely recommend the Park Cafe, situated next door to hotel. Breakfast every day there always hot and fresh, inexpensive and staff welcoming and friendly...

The Watson Hotel
New York, 440 57th Street 🧭 Map
I would definitely book again... Booked 3 different rooms and all 3 were great... Nice and clean. And reasonable rate... Met the owner Joe at the bar, I believe that's the correct name. With the white curled mustache... Nice humble person... the only con was the garage parking $45.00 each entry. Very expensive.
the hotel room was what I expected based off of the expedia site. I had a good experience. the bar there had the cheapest corona in the city. comfortable bed and valet parking wasn't that costly, just remember to get your parking slip stamped by the front desk when you leave(it gives a discount). I wish they had an indoor pool ?. I would stay here again if I were in Manhattan. I think the price and...
Great place for the money! Great location. I got a great deal on Priceline. Room was decent but they didn't completely renovate the bathroom. The fixtures were outdated in the bathroom. Hey if you're in New York City who's staying in the room anyway. I was told it used to be a holiday in.
Just a short walk to The Central Park where you can take a very refreshing morning walk and walkable to Times Square as well for a nice evening view of the lights and sounds! Overall good value for money! The rooms are larger than many other hotels that I have stayed in at Manhattan. You can park at the hotel for $37/day. Hope this is helpful!
Really enjoyed our stay, short walk from times square and central park. There is a $150 security deposit. Only negative thing is that the doors slam so loud when closing, you can hear your neighbors come in and out throughout the hallway. The shampoo and conditioner we're great quality and the room space for our king suite was more than accommodating. Glad we decide to stay here, no issues. Our house...

Pod 39
New York, 145 East 39th Street 🧭 Map
This is a great hotel for short stays in the city. I like the feel of it, it doesn't feel too contrived as a lot of modern style hotels do. The rooms are very small but they're nice, and in New York City you probably shouldn't be spending a ton of time in your room anyway so the size isn't really an issue. Located well with good access to the 6 as the station is very close by.
Oops, I stayed at Pod-39 Times Square, not this Pod. However, I'm sure they are very similar and Pod Times Square is awesome! Following are my comments concerning Pod 39 Times Square. Great, very clean, budget hotel and 5-minute walk to Times Square! Staff was very friendly--just awesome! Very small clean room, so if all you really want is a modern/clean place to sleep in an awesome location at a very...
Pretty good bang for your buck, considering the location. I think it was around $100/night during January? The pod is modern and sleek, intended the maximize the tiny space. With us spending most of the day out exploring, all I need is a hot shower and a bed to crash on. Be aware that the shower is a clear glass box, with a wide strip of frosted glass where your body would be.
I selected this hotel as a way to save money on a recent trip to NYC. I was very excited about booking a bunk room for me and my stepdaughter. When we arrived, I was told that there weren't anymore bunk rooms available. The front desk agent handled the situation with good customer service. While the room is absolutely no frills, the stay was enjoyable and offered a good place to sleep at night. I very...
This is a great budget hotel, located in the heart of Manhattan. Just a few steps away from Grand Central Terminal, you can easily get to any part of the city you wish to explore in a matter of minutes using the city's extensive subway network. The rooms are small (but it's a budget hotel) and spartan, but you cannot beat the price and the location. The staff is friendly and helpful. If you want to...
The rooms are ok (small but is part of the brand), you only would like to go to sleep and nothing else. The real problem are the bathroom doors, you can hear, see and smell everything from the bed...

Can’t beat the prices at Pod and this location is particularly one of my favorites. The set up is fun, it’s a great place to staycay or to put up friends who are visiting the City. If you are not interested in spending thousands of dollars and plan on spending every day outside exploring the city then this is phenomenal. Clean, small and compact. I got the private toilet queen room so I do not know how my experience would have been had I got the shared-bathroom option but overall this is quite possibly the only option for logical people spending a short amount of time in NY....
My husband and I stayed here while we were on our weekend getaway, and really enjoyed it. It was perfect for what we needed.
I'm in-between "it's ok" and " liked it"
The pros: it was close to where we wanted to be, priced fairly. The bathroom was bigger then we expected which was nice.
The cons: I personally didn't care for the sink as water got everywhere so as a result we didn't keep anything...
The Pod51 was simply such a perfect experience. If you’re a student like me and don’t want to live in an Airbnb, these kind of places are hard to come by for the price. The staff was so friendly. The location was amazing and my room was very clean. The gift shop is pricey however right next to the hotel is a 24 hr food store. We will definitely be back.
Great location, front desk staff was very nice Bellman not very helpful I asked them for cups when the desk was really busy but they can't bring you any. Only thing they would say is go to the front desk. Good size room nice to have the refrigerator and the microwave. Bathrooms don't have a vent so they do smell musty. Beds were very comfortable. The location is right in the heart of everything. Very close to multiple subway stops and tourist attractions. Rooms are pretty standard. We were able to check in early and wifi was fast. On the way up to our room we saw that they had a rooftop bar. The hotel is very well managed. The staff is very nice and greet you upon entry to the hotel. As for the rooms I am very pleased. They are very nice and for those who are staying more than a night, beds are made daily.

My husband and I stayed over Christmas. We expected the smaller sized rooms given it’s a hotel in the city and considering the price of other hotels with larger rooms- was one of the nicer cheaper options. We stayed for 5 nights.

Absolutely banger of a deal for the location. The rooms are dated and tiny but clean. When I say tiny I mean it. Service is phenomenal! and they have a place to store your bags even after you check out. Location is prime just a 5 min walk from MSG and the Empire State Building.
It was perfect for everything we wanted. The lady upon check in was kinda rude but everyone else we dealt with was very friendly. We booked the family room in Jan of 2024. The view from the top floor patio bar was beautiful!! And was within walking distance to everything we wanted to see and do. Bonus was we took the train from Toronto to NYC and this was a direct short walk to and from the station
We stayed here for a mom’s getaway this past weekend. Four of us shared a room and we had plenty of space and the beds were comfy. The lobby is nice with lounge area and gas fireplace. Front desk person was friendly as were the housekeepers. Morning staff super chipper! The hotel is perfectly located with restaurants, bars, Penn station, Madison square garden, Times Square and theaters all just steps...
We enjoyed our stay here. The room was not large, but we didn't need large...we came to see New York! The concierge was a wonderful bonus and helped us with a wonderful Korean place to eat and things to do. The bell man stored our bags because we arrived before our check in time and we wanted to get busy sightseeing. Try the hot chocolate at the hotel. You won't regret it.
Reaaly enjoy this place. Very welcome staff and great rooms, price is perfect. Also, there is a bar in the hotel on roof with view on Empire State Building. It is not a fashionable bar, but very cozy with friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Very nice. We have been to much nicer Homewood Suites though. I think they do the best with what they have to work with. Staff was very friendly. Rooms are a bit small. They try to give you a small kitchen area in a space that is realistically too small for that much stuff. End result is a cramped space. Heck, it's NY though and most of out time was out and about.
I guarantee you will be rudely awaken every night like clockwork at 1:30 AM from the thunderous clank of industrial metal garbage bin being emptied out right outside the hotel. If you’re on a budget and just need somewhere decent to sleep/shower for a weekend New York trip - I would highly recommend just staying here. Location is awesome, central park is literally steps away, subway station a few blocks, a Starbucks at end of block. Recommend if you want to save...
An ideal haven for the solo traveler mindful of their budget. While some reviews might describe the rooms as simplistic and lacking in flair, let's consider the essence of a New York City visit. It's not about the room, but the city's vibrant pulse waiting to be explored. It offers just what you need—a comfortable place to rest and refresh after each day's adventures.
Conveniently located near Central...
Good location, very close to Central Park. Worth your while for low budget trips to New York. Their gym is surprisingly good, which is free to use if you stay there. The rooms smelled like chlorine once we got there, so the cleaning crew did their job well, but the smell was not great at all.
Overall a good stay on a great location for a reasonable price.
I have stayed here several times over the past 10 years, but his may have been my last time. My daughter and I stay here because it is cheap and it is safe, plus in a great location for subways and buses. But his time it was noisy and not clean. I don't expect 5 star quality and I don't expect the bathrooms to be cleaned after each use, but I do think things that are broken should be fixed and there...
Check-in was smooth and the receptionist was really kind. Our double bunk room looked pretty scary upon entry, but was actually surprisingly comfortable and quiet. Nice working AC and clean showers with towels provided. Access to the gym/pool was also included ($10 mandatory fee). Great location right next to Central Park and within walking distance to just about everything. Would stay again!
very dirty rooms, cold and wind blows from window, linen and towels they don't change, it was disgusting
The television does not work; they don't make the beds; the air conditioning does not work; the bathrooms are not clean The towels are not clean the service is bad. All the staff is super rude.
Lincoln Center across the street. Breads Bakery around the corner. The subway just a few blocks away.

SoHo 54
New York, 54 Watts Street 🧭 Map
Perfect SoHo location and all the amenities needed for a weekend stay. Decent breakfast and workout room, and very helpful staff. Clean and comfortably-sized rooms.
Great location to subway. Good free breakfast. Construction going on in front of building. Rooms were on the small side but adequate.
This is a very nice hotel. The rooms are clean and large enough. The staff are very friendly, and A delicious breakfast is included to get your day started. Also there's a gym in the building if you like to continue your routine.
Close to metro stations. Over all i really enjoyed my stay there
This is not a 5 star hotel, but they have 5 star staff and 5 star cleanliness. My son and I stayed here for 3 nights last weekend, and were very happy with our choice. Breakfast was included, and had nice sit down, and grab and go options. Its not a massive selection, and it is a simple buffet with lots of excellent options. It is also located very close to 2 subway lines that run straight uptown to...
Although this hotel is NOT a 5 star hotel I would give it 5 stars for the value it provides.
the rooms are pretty small but very clean and well taken care of, the staff was really nice and friendly, breakfast was decent (as hotel continental breakfasts go) and the best part is the location.
The location is great for people who want to check out the SOHO area, lower manhattan etc.
bottom line, worth...
The hotel is in a great location. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was cheerful and accommodating. The only minor issues were parking (4 blocks away and no valet), the locations of the ice machines were every other floor or in the basement, and the building is surrounded by very close offices so there was no view. Also-ithe bar was nice but the drinks were way over priced.

Holiday Inn Express - Times Square, an IHG Hotel
New York, 343 West 39th Street 🧭 Map
Everyone is incredibly helpful, prompt and Super friendly! Not a single negative thing to say. Breakfast included is hot and fresh, at all Holiday Inn Express hotels. You can register to be a member, for free.
-Convenient location close to bus authority and metro lines.
-Small rooms that are not suitable for more than two people.
-Poor breakfast, only with the basics.
-Two elevators that are not sufficient during peak hours (ex. breakfast times).
-Helpful and kind personnel.
-Good variety of home equipment inside the room (coffee machine, hairdryer, 42 inch TV).
Helpful staff, bad hotel infrastructure. First of all, it's really not in Times Square...the banners outside the hotel read Garment District. That said, it's still pretty convenient to lots. The real problem is that the elevators and breakfast area can't handle the amount of people who stay at the hotel. Try to stay on a lower floor so you can easily use the stairs instead of waiting 15 minutes...
Clean, good value rooms - not quite as good as some other HIE sites. Staff was pleasant. Disappointed that I was allocated a room opposite the elevator and next to ice machine, considering I was checking in with a baby - consequently, I hasten to add that rooms are quite noisy! Every sound coming through very loudly. Good location. Probably wouldn't stay at this site again, however.
Looks reasonable and practical, and close to the Port Authority Bus Terminal where you can hie off to other locations in the East Coast. Came to meet with a college classmate who's visiting NYC with her daughter. The small lobby easily gets filled up with people who come and go. I even got to charge my phone by one of the USB's of the computers in the lobby. The place looks clean and well maintained
Excellent place to stay. Clean room, very comfortable bed, iron, coffee machine and towels provided. Staff very nice and helpful. Very close to most attractions and the room had a fantastic view (32nd floor). Would definitely stay here again.
1) breakfast is always the same, small choice of food. 2) only 2 elevators for 36 storey building, one of which was constantly out of order. 3) if you ask anything, numerous reminders are wanted to get it (asked body wash at 2 p.m., got it at 8 p.m. after several calls to front desk). The staff is always apologising but, in actual fact, doing nothing to resolve guests' problems. Seems Philip Kotler...
