To make matters worse, the room had terrible sound insulation. The constant noise from the billboards cooling system was easily audible, making it nearly impossible to get a good night's sleep. It felt like we were trying to sleep next to a jet engine.
On top of all this, we were hit with an unexpected extra room service charge. This charge wasn't explained to us at all and was supposedly included in the price we had already paid to Virgin Holidays, making the situation even more confusing and frustrating.
Overall, our stay at W Hotel New York was a disaster. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a pleasant stay in the city. Save yourself the trouble and find somewhere else to stay.
