Reviews
the room is really SMALL. It is hard to get in the room. Literally the door almost hit the bed so I had to come into the left close the door and then move around to truly enter the room. The toilet and shower are in the room separated by glass and the door does not fully close. It is not isolated. So when you are in there, your partner will hear "whatever you do".
You will hear people from the hall. The noise insulation is not good at all. The water and ice machines are super super slow like it takes minutes to fill a small water bottle. The water tasted weird.
They say they offer complimentary mini refrigerators, yet i was not able to get one any of my nights, and my leftovers went bad. I stayed Tuesday through Thursday night so it’s not like it was a weekend.
Overall, I will not stay at another YOTEL.
Unfortunately, that was the only good thing about our room.
As we unpacked and looked around the room, we were appalled by the lack of cleanliness. There was dirt, grime, mold, and hair in the bathroom sink and shelves. The sink drain had a thick dark circle of mold around it and in the corners of the sink, there was also dirt and mold.
The shelf in the bathroom was covered in dust, dirt, and hair.
The bed railing was also covered in dirt.
I went to the front desk and spoke to someone about the uncleanliness. I told him our remote control wasn't working and then told him that our bathroom was dirty, especially the sink. He asked me what time we got there and I told him we had just arrived within the hour. We were headed out and asked him if he could send someone up to take care of it.
We arrived back a few hours later. They replaced the remote, but the bathroom hadn't been touched. Absolutely gross to see that much grime. We used napkins to try and wipe up the crap in the sink.
We bought sodas and when putting them in the fridge, I noticed a plastic container of moldy cheese, which we promptly threw out.
I've attached photos of the sink, bed railing, and shelf in the bathroom.
We should be receiving compensation for having to deal with this and have already contacted the Better Business Bureau.
We had had a wonderful experience at the Yotel in Washington DC, so we booked again in NYC for the same experience.
Not even close to the same experience.
Do better.
The hotel breakfast is ~$20 a person, but its a hot breakfast with a decent selection. Well staffed too. Rooms are nice and look like the photos there is some noise from the hallway but its mostly quiet. The shower is great, but our room did have some small mold stains in the corner. Nothing to get in a fuss over, but it may affect others experience.
It does cost $9 (Cash only) to have them hold your bags. I've never heard of this charge before but it may be a nyc thing.
