Reviews
The furnishings in the room are a little old now and the restaurant for dinner seemed expensive for the quality of food provided but these are minor criticisms.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
Overall - really good with nice open park-like space outside and plenty of parking....a very nice alternative to the somewhat cold and impersonal "corporate" hotels.
Good location outside the center madness
I wish the water temp in the hot tub was warmer, and the breakfast wasnt great
Likes:
- beautiful views, easy to get to, wonderfully set up territory.
- comfortable room, everything fantastic, small balcony where you can enjoy your morning or evening tea with mountain view
- friendly staff (most). Especially at the restaurant/bar. I asked for avocado at breakfast (there was nothing else for me to eat), and they brought it to me. Very grelateful.
- dog friendly with some goodies for them in the room.
- SPA has nice views, sauna is small but clean, hydromassage is great.
Dislikes, what can be improved to reach 4 star hotel level:
- cleanliness of the balcony in the room (very dusty furniture, clearly not been cleaned for a long time), with cigarette ashes on the floor
- cleanliness of the SPA. I used it in the evening of the arrival and the next day at 15.00 an old soaked (already dried out) chunk of tissue was laying on the side of the jacuzzi. Quite disgusting. I used the outlet near the bench and it was covered with spider net. Meaning- that corner hasn't been cleaned for a while.
One of the spa windows was very dirty. Hasn't been cleaned for a while for sure. Outdated cracked head rests on the warming laying chairs. Not very inviting.
- There are 4 gym equipment pieces that are located between the entrance and the spa and its very hot in that little space, impossible to work out. Also some weights could be great.
- If you want to use the locker in the SPA and lock it, you need 2 eur coin - at least good to mention this at reception.
- I would say for an extra cost the spa was overpriced, it could be included in the stay.
Luckily I managed to get a time slot when I was alone. Otherwise you may be joined by 3 more people and it would be crowded and unpleasant.
- you get a voucher for Copa de Bienvenida (welcome drink). Please mention at reception what drinks it includes. I went to the bar in the evening to use this voucher for a welcome drink. I waved it around, ordered a non-alcoholic gin tonic (by the recommendation of the barman when I asked for 0.0%). Only when the drink was ready he told me I cannot use the voucher for this. Not a big deal for me. But I can imagine it could be a very big deal for someone else.
- As I was laying by the pool, after about an hour a lady came up to me and asked for a pool ticket. I was surprised. Then she asked for the room number. When I told her the room number she told me I have to go get a ticket. So I left altogether. Asked at the reception. At the reception they told me since I'm staying at the hotel I don't need a ticket. So you guys, it's cool to have some inner understanding.
- instead of bothering guests for non-existent tickets, it would be great to just walk through the grass around pool area and pick up trash..there were quite many plastic trash laying around the lawn, as well as a wine glass sadly standing under a tree for the whole time I've been there.
- the lawn wasn't taken care of. Very unevenly mowed and parts had 4-5 day high grass at least.
- breakfast choice was definitely overpriced. Absolutely no fresh veggies. I asked for avocado for the toast, since I am vegan and for me there was only whole fruit (don't even know if washed) and walnuts. It's same snack I brought with me from the supermarket:) Everything else wasn't vegan. Except for soy milk.
- Dinner for a veggie menu was also overpriced. The food was good except the oversalted veggie wok that the waiters kindly replaced for a completely unsalted one.. :) Greatly appreciated this service tho and kindness of restaurant staff.
- I had my car packed with things as I am doing a very long road trip and needed to park in the garage. 14 eur/night for a garage that seemed to be meant for staff and supplies (very unorganized, cluttered) was to my mind also quite overpriced. I also didn't realize that you can park on the territory for free. This wasn't mentioned to me at reception either.
Overall - if it would be a 3 star hotel - no questions. However cleanliness can be better. For a 4 star - definitely overpriced
Originally, we booked a horrible hotel for our weekend getaway in Andorra, and had to leave it early, we arrived at Abba Xalet without a booking, hoping to get a room, and I'm so glad we did !
It is one of the best hotel I've stayed at. It is a 4 stars hotel and they deserve it.
Staff was amazing, professional and nice.
Facilities were outstanding! The lobby, the restaurant, the room, everything was perfect.
Bed was comfy, the room was big, the shower as well.
We paid 20e per night for our dog, which I thought was a little high, but he got the cutest little welcome pack ! Such a nice touch.
Breakfast buffet was out of this world! Amazing! We tried a bit of everything and everything was good. I'm sad we didn't get to try the restaurant.
We were offered free drinks and 1h spa on arrival which was awesome. Only negative feedback would be the temperature of the jacuzzi, it was more lukewarm and could've been a little warmer.
I wish our stay there was longer, it was very pleasant!
