Staff were so friendly and helpful. We were able to walk everywhere and being there for the festival this was a bonus! The room was exactly what we had asked for, for two sisters on vacation. The hotel is in a convenient location, the front desk staff is superb and friendly. I loved the outside entrance and the lobby and the rooms are a generous size. This is a lovely hotel but it just missed 5 stars in my mind because the sheets are slightly rough and the pillows are too thick. Also the breakfast buffet, although huge, is not quite excellent and the music is much too loud for me.

Hotel was really nice seems to be in a fairly good location to access the lagoon and boats directly across the road from the casino if that's your thing. Food was really good couldn't complain. An older refurbished hotel always has more space in its rooms and this is no exception. Coupled with great service, beautiful views and facilities this is a really great choice......... The background poolside and bar music though are stupendously bad!! I would rather eat my own hair than listen to it! Please, turn it off for ever!

First class accommodation. I don't even look anywhere else when going to Cairns. These apartments are well equipped and have such a good layout/configuration for families or groups. The location is also second to none.

Met by an unimpressive entrance and a small reception area you get the impression of an older style hotel. The corridors leading to the rooms continues this impression. Very good hotel and just far enough away from the main eating area in town for a nice walk back, but not too far, after dinner. We had a great 'ocean view' room overlooking the water, DO NOT TAKE ONE OF THESE ROOMS! They are directly above the bars and nightclubs and you won't be getting too much sleep. Also directly opposite these rooms is the heliport, you won't be getting any sleep-ins in the morning...

Great view and lovely spacious room. There was no room service for food or drinks. Good breakfast selection. Only negative was that you had to go down to the foyer to collect food for the minibar.

We had a brilliant experience with the Shangri-la. It's been 1 year since we've been back and the morning breakfast offering has certainly improved. 5 star service with a 4 star building. This is so close to a 5 star review just the age of the building lets it down. Still don't let that worry you if you are thinking of staying, the building is glorious and if you enjoy a 50s building in the golden light then this is for you. We stayed just for our first night in Cairns at the Red Sparrow. The hosts Colin and Christine were both really nice and so flexible. They let us check in early and even dropped us with our luggage to our next accommodation! Bed was extremely comfortable and all facilities were available. Would highly recommend.

Family of 5 stayed in a 3 bedroom ocean front apartment and the apartment was perfect. The spacious outdoor balcony overlooked the pool and had beautiful views overlooking the water. Our bedroom was further away from the kids so we all had alot of room and privacy. Great kid friendly park with many activities and multiple pools to keep them occupied throughout our stay. Those looking for a small, quiet relaxing park to setup would be advised it’s possibly not for you ! Well, it's not a resort as I know it. I would call it a gated community. It seems that units are owned and rented out. We checked in at night, which was a very bad move. While staff were helpful with directions, the place is poorly lit. Signs to the various buildings were small and impossible to read in the dark. Just spent a week here with the family using The Lakes as a base and could not be happier with the service. From check in till check out we were well looked after. Our apartment was beautifully set up and the resort pools were great. For being such a large complex there was very little noise from other guests. Looking forward to returning in the future.

We went to the Novotel for the children's birthday party by the pool. We had such a good time. We took advantage of the the bar by the pool, they made a great cosmopolitan, cocktail prices are a bit rich. The pool is a decent size with sand. Kids pool too. Definitely great place to book parties. I'm keeping this in mind.

Exceptional Apartments in a fantastic location in Cairns. We were very happy with our stay. The apartments exceed all our expectations. One of he best vacation apartments we have ever stayed in. We arrived late around 11pm at night because of flight delays. Was greeted by a filipino staff member who came across as very rude. Telling us off for not knowing the combinations to their after hours check in safe. Saying we should have received late check in instructions which NEVER got sent to us. We booked these guys at the last minute and it was a great place to spend the night. Really great value for money and the rooms were very decent. Lovely pool and really close to the Cairns foreshore. Everything you can want in budget accomodation in the heart of town!

Good hotel with pool. Far enough away from the centre of town which was loud but close enough to walk. Rooms neat and tidy. Not much noise insulation between floors and rooms and despite notices about keeping "quiet time" between 10pm and 8am some guests were very noisy but, other than that, quite nice 2 night stay. Useful having no parking restrictions in road outside

Stayed here recently for 2 nights. Comfortable room, clean and well serviced. Breakfast is available plus nice pool and BBQ area . Located not far from the city centre. Good price, under $200.00 a night. Limited parking available but plenty of street parking.

Basic clean rooms. No lifts to higher floors but we were able to be accommodated on the ground floor. Good for a weekend away at the beach. I was travelling for work and it did not really suit my needs. Some noise and bright lights - curtains not sufficient to block this. Staff were lovely

Excellent service, amazing views and all in the heart of a tropical lush rainforest as your backdrop. Wildlife such as kookaburras and I believe wallabies in the area were an attractive site to see. Friendly warm welcome, lovely fresh fruit, cheeses, breads fruit juices, coffees and cereals for breakfast, exceptionally clean rooms, cosy and has all you need, plunge pool, and views to die for. Lots of birds including visiting Kookaburas , peaceful location, bit only a 10 min drive into the city

Great views, a wonderful breakfast and a lovely host. There are a couple of tropical birds that come to visit the owners every day during breakfast - they just stay there, they don't bother the guests or anything. It's charming. The wi-fi is excellent, by far the best connection I've had in a trip. Recommended.

Really good property in edge hills, cairns. Hosts were really warm and curtious. Rooms were really good. All and all a great place to stay.

It was a wonderful experience staying at Kookas. Nicely tucked away from the main city, yet accessible, Kookas is nice and warm bnb with Marlies and Bruno being amazing hosts. Marlies was super helpful as she helped us with Reef bookings, and also helped us plan our day explaining the things that we could do around, and the public transport. At the edge hill not so many place for dinner so l recommend you to visit Chinese restaurant, if you are planning to visit the NOA at weekend better to make booking it always packed from 6 to 8 p.m.
