Cairns, 8 Minnie Street 🧭 Map
Good location in a quiet street, front desk has very professional staff that greet you with a smile and hello at all times, I arrived extremely early but it wasn't a issue as my bag was securely stored in a locked room whilst I wandered off to come back when my room was made ready, my room was well maintained and clean. Its about a 15 to 20 minute walk to the marina and its not a difficult walk at...
The hotel's location was excellent (within walking distance and close to the bus stop).
When returning to the hotel when the front desk wasn't staffed, the automatic doors wouldn't open unless you inserted your room key, so security was assured.
Amenities included two shampoos and two bars of soap.
Luggage storage was available both before check-in and after check-out.
The staff were friendly, so it...
The hotel is a little far from the port, but the price is reasonable. It's only a ten-minute walk. Even though there are fewer people walking at night, it feels safe. If you've checked in after the check-in time, the store will proactively leave your key in your mailbox. If you don't receive the email, you can call the front desk at the door and they will come out to help.
The hotel is quite good for one night. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It's quite expensive for a room like this; the room was rather dated, and the bed wasn't particularly comfortable.
Excellent value for money, and incredibly close to the Esplanade so the location is perfect.
Furnishings are definitely old though, but for the price you pay - you cannot complain.
Swimming pool is very small, unheated and a little dirty, but fine if you want to get accustomed to water before doing the reef (which is what you're in Cairns for right?)!
Nice Hotel ..... very comfortable and good breakfast

Ramada By Wyndham Cairns City Centre

The room was spacious and great for relaxing, but the Wi-Fi connection was pretty bad...
It felt like there was barely any signal outside the reception area
My bed was comfortable although the rooms and hotel overall is dated
Hotel was a bit tired but ok. There was one or two unruly guests that spoilt it.
Not comportable and outdated. Service not good😟
no drinking water in room , breakfast was of very poor quality , the entire property is dated and needs a good clean , cannot recommend this hotel
Very dated rooms. Clean but badly in need of a renovation. Certainly nowhere near the 4 stars advertised. Location is good but I would not stay again. Better value elsewhere

Mercure Cairns
Cairns, 15 Florence Street 🧭 Map
Good location, great family room with separate rooms and a mini kitchen. Poor storage, no drying facilities for swim wear at a beach resort.
Restaurant was closed, not mentioned at time of booking.
On the night when we arrived, we got the last room on ground floor as we came in pretty late and that was the last room available. Some local people argued and shouted loudly right outside our room. My young daughter got so disturbed and scared.
The next morning I raised the issue with Evan. Evan was incredibly welcoming and helpful when I shared my concerns then he relocated us to another quiet room...
The lighting of the hotel room can be improved. The emergency contact button doesn't work well.
No 24-hour reception service.
However, the staff is helpful and friendly.
Our room was 208 on the second floor tiny nothing like the photo of room I thought I had booked. Room facing the street lots of people walking past during the night I was surprised we could hear them so clearly on the 2nd floor.
Room was clean, painted dark blue which made it feel super small.
No hand shower it’s a large rainfall type but not always suitable for everyone, lovely bathroom products....
Room size was comfortable for two adults and teenager.
Building felt clean and comfortable, until ants showed up! First one adult found an ant crawling on her cellphone. Then we found them on the window sill, and down the wall, then....
A maintenance man came and sprayed, but a couple of us would wake in the night to look and see whether the ants were still coming. Next day I asked for an adjustment...
Had a good stay at the Mercure Hotel in Cairns. The location is great, just a 5-minute walk to the beach and plenty of nearby restaurants. It’s also right next to the Cairns Aquarium, which was super convenient. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay.
The only downside was being on the ground floor it could get noisy at night with people shouting...
Noisy Rooms were a bit tired. Seemed to be a lot of people including us who struggled to get WiFi to work
It was right next to Cairns Aquarium and Cairn Performing Arts Center, and only a couple of blocks from the Esplanade. The bed was comfortable and the room was cute and well arranged. The hotel was very clean. All of the staff I interacted with were very friendly, helpful and professional.

My room was wonderful with a lovely view.
It was so quiet.
The hotel is conveniently within walking distance of the city centre, the Esplanade and the Marina.
The staff were so helpful.
Great accommodation experience, the counter staff are very friendly and the room is spacious
We had an EXCELLENT experience staying at the Cairns Plaza, especially the friendly and helpful welcome upon check in (young women, brown hair, very hospitable). All amenities were great, including the hotel pool. We were just a stones throw from the lagoon and a short stroll to the town centre. The team even held our bags after check out and allowed us to use their pool and changing rooms. Thank you
This is a hotel that really wants to give a full five-star rating! Although it is only rated three stars, it actually has all the necessary facilities, is clean and tidy, and has large rooms. The suite living room also has a microwave and various tableware (no kitchenware, just plates, forks, spoons and other tableware). It is enough for tourists who do not pursue luxury and high-star enjoyment, and...
location is good , staff are friendly, we have booked a sea view room, which is wonderful.
Spent 4 nights at the Cairns Plaza and couldn’t have been happier. Good, clean room. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful and pleasant with it. Excellent location for getting around - 15 mins walk from the reef terminals and 3 mins walk to the bus to the botanical gardens. Very close to cafes/restaurants, the night market and shops. Waters Edge Aparments
Cairns, 155 The Esplanade 🧭 Map
We have visited Cairns several times and this is the nicest place we have stayed in. We were with our adult children and were very pleased with our spacious 3-bed apartment with a big balcony and undercover parking. Nicely furnished and plenty of space for everyone. An easy walk to the center of town yet very quiet and just across the street from the waterfront and a brilliant cafe (Muddy's). Lovely...
A family of six lives here, very satisfied
Water's Edge is located in a prime spot in Cairns. Having the esplanade across the street was perfect for daily walks and access to the marina with all the restaurants. And having Muddy's Cafe directly across the street was great. Our 3 bedroom swim out apartment was spacious for 2 couples. The master bedroom was in the front of the apartment while the other 2 bedrooms were in the rear so makes for...
The room is big and you can cook. The dryer broke on the first day of your stay. They didn't help us change rooms in time. They came to fix it the day before we checked out (we stayed for four days). There was no sunshade in the room, just a screen window. I was woken up by the sun at 7 o'clock every morning. When I slept at night, the street lights on the road shone into the room. I won't stay here...
We had a wonderful stay in December. Many thanks to managers Tania & Craig for their welcoming, warm and kind hospitality. The apartment was spacious and well equipped with large rooms, two bathrooms, full personal laundry for all your needs and kitchen with everything you could require. Beautiful large balcony with full dining area. Pools were perfect for our two boys and towels were also supplied...
We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment with family and there was plenty of space to move and enjoy. A really nice, clean, well thought out apartment. The master bedroom is huge, with a great spa-bath in the ensuite. The beds are comfy, the lounge room has a lot of space and the view from the verandah is fabulous. It's about a 10 to 15 minute walk into town which we did along the promenade which was beautiful

Gilligan's Backpackers Hotel & Resort

Easy to meet people, book tours.
I book a 8 female room and we were only 4 some nights.
Calm and quiet in the room (we don’t hear the music )
What a rave, This place is jam packed with activities and its location is top. If you are seeking an accomodation that's in the midst of all the happenings, this is the place to be!
However, I would not consider this "5 Star" so much as I expected more in terms of the aesthetics and amenities provided in the room comparable to that of a true 5 star hotel.
Also check out their foam parties! Top notch
Great hostel, crowd is diverse, lots of young people. Great price for a 4-bed female dorm room. However, music was loud till 3am so this is not the place to stay if you want a quiet night to sleep lol. Overall, great place with great staff.
I gotta say this nightclub exceeded my expectations. Great sound system and vibe. Very diverse crowd, informal, some people wearing costumes, everyone just dancing and having a good time. I don't remember the last time I laughed so hard. It is an attraction on its own, worth checking it out.
Great party hostel! The rooms are clean. The kitchen space is big and there is plenty of communal space. Met some great people here! If you're a girl I'd suggest the female dorm rather than mixed.
The best part is the pool bar. The Gilligan's Sunday session is the best! My favourite day of the week in Cairns.
Music plays until late - 3am - so if you want a good night of sleep, ask for a room on the...
Honestly Gilligan's was great. I personally am not a frequent hostel goer and was a bit skeptical but Gilligan's met all my expectations. People were friendly, the rooms were clean (which was a big factor for me), and the location is great. We booked a private room with a bathroom, a king sized bed and a balcony for my boyfriend and I. I recently stayed at the White Rock Leisure Park and was pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Quiet place, good prices (we stayed in a family cabin) but air-conditioning wasn't working in one side of cabin, lady at desk said it was new ( it was quite old) so had to leave adjoining door open so other a/c unit could cool both rooms, wasn't ideal and didn't cool well (stayed over Xmas so was hot). Could be a really nice place if the cleaned up some of the residents sites, old buses falling apart...
It's clean cheap not flash but comfy handy for shopping and not to far from Cairns

The room is clean and hygienic, the surrounding is quiet, parking is convenient, and you need to swipe your card to enter and exit, which is very safe
really good air conditioner, clean tidy, functional. secure parking and car outside the door.
Stayed across the road from here its a good modern pub. I had 2 meals here the ribs and a steak sandwich both were good meals and the steak sandwich is large although the ribs need more sauce
The food is amazing, same with service. Was honestly really surprised at the quality of their food and service being in the location it is. The lamb shank from there I crave every week. Also very family friendly. This place is very underrated, in my opinion beats all the taverns in Northside even.
Stopped in for lunch and a bevo. Ordered online. Easy as. You are better off doing it this way as can view huge selection of chefs specials. Meals came out together and didn't have to wait long. Very reasonably priced. Cold drinks. Clean and tidy restaurant and after meal, waiter offered glass of water. Great service. Will definitely be back. 11 out of 10.
We stayed here for week in a family room and we were very impressed with our hotel, the rooms are in a gated area, so safe and secure, we had three bedrooms, beds super comfy had a good sleep, each room had it's own air conditioning unit, helps to sleep on those hot nights! Good location. Staff are great and accommodating....rooms basic but beat and clean. Overly court yard with pool to chill it in. Quiet considering on main road.
My daughter left her soft plush in room, staff were helpful and we are happy to stay at the connecting rooms in Queens Court.
Room was ready early which was great. The room was very neat and clean and the staff were very helpful. I also swam in the pool which was so clean.
I will definitely return
It's very clean and tidy. The room was quite comfortable and had all the necessary items, such as soap, shampoo, toilet paper, towels, etc. It's located four blocks from the beach.
Only lost one point from me, because of the WiFi signal but I can live without I'm just glad I don't have the kids with me. Personally apart from that my stay was flawless. It has the perfect, location, service, security, cleanliness, not overly priced and I've also saved a lot of cigarettes (because I'm too lazy to walk outside to have one). Then there's the bed!! Wow the bed is lovely, on arrival...

The accommodations were super clean and environmentally sensitive - and a very nice walk from all the things going on in the city. They had great information about tourist spots and where to go as a local. If you're there for more than a few days, I highly recommend! Their free bikes and pool were the cherries on top.
We had the most amazing experience. Great staff, apartment ( very spacious, many useful amenities, great pool) and location in a calm area within walking distance of all the great night life!
Clean but need renovations
Need some renovations. Also, in the room the furnitures are very basic. The swimming pool is good. Clean.
The room had a funny smell but we bought a freshener and it was fine. I love the fact they have proper washing powder and family size shampoo etc. There were a lot of convenient inclusions in the cupboards. Rooms are large and clean and very comfortable. Reception staff very helpful.
The location is good, 10 minutes walk to the shopping center (supermarket and shopping), 25 minutes to the cruise terminal. The staff is very friendly. The cleanliness of the room needs to be improved. When I checked in, the bed sheets had some mold stains and many furnitures were dusty. Just stayed one night, it was closeby the airport.
The room was disappointing, exceptionally small, with parking facilities at a distance from the room. While we were provided with a ground floor room due to mobility issues, the long walk between parking spot and room negated the ground floor location.

Neat little motel with clean rooms and facilities. Rooms are fairly spacious, too. Good value for money accommodation option. Some guests are a noisy bunch, and the noise from the stairwell leaks into your rooms, particularly when it's 5am and they thunder off to their days activity.

We were travelling as two couples. Getaway on Grafton was a comfortable and spacious place. Each couple had their own bathroom and there was a spacious lounge/dining area with a kitchen and deck. The pool was lovely to swim in even in the middle of winter.
It’s the small things that make a difference!
Half a dozen dishwasher tablets rather than one! A bottle of washing up liquid rather than a sachet. A towel and bed sheet change during the stay, all practical but help keep the property in good order!
Spacious rooms with amenities which we were looking for - kitchen, laundry, and pool. Although it is very walkable to the CBD, some people may prefer having a car for their stay. They do have rental e-scooters for those who don't want to walk in the rainforest weather
We booked two bedrooms, all spaces are big and nice clean. Staffs are friendly and welcoming , and helpful .
Environment: OK
Hygiene: Good
Facilities: There were six people staying in the living room. There were two folding beds, one of which was broken. I felt uncomfortable sleeping on the first and second days. I mentioned it to them on the third day and they replaced it in time. Their attitude was pretty good!

Very accommodating- early check in, late check out

Really great rooms. Free drink at the pub as well as discount for food. Will stay here everytime I am in Cairns.
Came for dinner before a show, they had limited vegetarian options but the , willwoman with the American accent at the bar suggested the stirfy with tofu - instead of beef, it was great. Creedence show was so busy and the queues for the bar were insane but the staff handled it so well, will definitely be back!
My wife and I and two friends had Christmas lunch here on Christmas Day.
