Fairmont Chateau Laurier, Ottawa1 / 50

Ottawa, 1 Rideau Street 🧭 Map
Hotel itself is a landmark and has its historical value. When we visited the hotel had electricity issues but we were lucky as they resolved our side quickly. The charm of the hotel is on another level. Next to the Rideau Canal and Parliament made it even better. Recommend to book a parliament view room. Highly recommended in my books.
I wanted to take a moment to share some feedback from our recent stay at your property. Firstly, I must commend your team for the warm welcome and efficient check-in process upon our arrival. Our room, boasting two double beds and offering a stunning view of the city and the picturesque fall scene of the Rideau Canal, was indeed spacious and comfortable. The presence of two bathrooms, each with a...
We loved the general ambiance and location of the hotel. Our room was large and light and all the staff were friendly and helpful.
Very nice location but old hotel that needs some updates. Our coffee machine did not work as they had it plugged into a power bar that kept blowing fuse’s. The front desk was friendly and quick to respond however the repair man admitted that whoever installed it did a lazy job. Also the blinds in the room are not “black out”. For the price I would have expected better blinds and a coffee maker that...
My (now) fiance took me to the Fairmont for a long weekend away and it was hands down the best place I've ever stayed! He called ahead and let them know he was planning on proposing and they hooked us up with a surprise amazing view. Everything was absolutely perfect!! We'll definitely be back!!!
I had the pleasure of staying at the Fairmont Château Laurier in Ottawa and I couldn't be more impressed. From the moment I walked in, I was transported to another era with the stunning architecture and elegant decor. The room was spacious, clean, and well-appointed with all the amenities one could want. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, making my stay even more enjoyable. I also had the...

The view from my room was fantastic. It was a spacious, comfortable suite. I booked it partly for the kitchenette, and was disappointed that nothing was provided in that kitchenette. No dishes, cutlery or glassware. This defeated the purpose of having a kitchen. The hotel is very convenient for using the transit system.
Nice place to stay. Pool is nice. Stayed for a hockey tournament, kids ran the whole floor. Parents were able to order pizza locally and eat in the hall. That was good since the resto at the hotel could not accomodate the 30 of us on such short notice.(Not a complaint, just suggest if you are going to, make a reservation early so they know your coming)
Nice welcoming lobby with a beautiful fountain/garden display. Took very long to check in as there was only one desk worker. Beds were more on the firm side which is alright, I slept pretty well and that's the most important part to me. The beds seemed a bit old and we're very squeaky, just getting in and out of them sounded comical. Overall not too bad.
Large suite, nice rooms. Hotel is a little old and needs renovations.. underground parking is very sketchy and creepy. The parking spots are very small as well. Its a decent place to stay when downtown Ottawa is fully booked, it's closed to the war museum and nice parks.
This is a really good property! The location is great to Ottawa but at the same time it gets you away from all the busyness of the city. The staff is great I gave them a bit of a hard time about parking and they had all the patience in the world. When I realized I was wrong I apologize profusely but they were very good about it. The rooms are very clean and cozy. I loved this property and slept great
The hotel is clean, modern, and nicely situated. The grounds are lovely and include a patio/garden area outside. The room is larger than I thought it would be but otherwise just as expected. It is nicely furnished and provides all promised amenities. The service is bilingual, helpful, and accommodating — although some staff members seem to struggle slightly with questions asked in English. My gluten...

Location was perfect for what we went to Ottawa for, The room was great but the view wasnt fantastic, but I also didnt pay for a view, we just needed the room. Both beds were comfortable and the room was nice clean and the staff were amazing.
We got sent here by Air Canada due to an unexpected overnight layover. It was very nice! The room was very clean and modern, and the staff were very kind! They also have a great bar with many drink options!
Meeting room, food for meeting and lobby area was really nice. The rooms were decent but it had been years since I have seen a double bed. No fridge in room and a ceiling that looked like it was drywalled by a preschooler.
Excellent hotel in the heart of downtown Ottawa that is very dog friendly! No issues with check in. Room was large, clean, and very modern. They had a dog bed and bowls ready in our room as well. Very walkable to all the main restaurant streets. Would highly recommend staying here.
Ideally located with a very cozy atmosphere. The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated. It is announced as pet friendly and it is really pet friendly, our dog was welcome with a blanket, a cushion and bowls already there in the room. The bar area is comfy and the staff is really helpful Warmly recommend.
Really enjoy staying at Alt Hotels - we last stayed at the one in St John’s NL. The room at the one in Ottawa was almost the same layout which was great. The only difference was the beds which are very soft/plush in Ottawa; it was hard on my back and I didn’t sleep very well. Minor issue and a personal preference.

I attended a small business conference here that totalled about 10 people. The meeting room was clean, organized, and quiet. The rooms were much appreciated by all as perfect junior suites with bedroom and separate sitting area. The super convenient in-house restaurant was staffed with very friendly and accommodating peeps. The power center directly across the street offers a handful of great restaurants...
We have stayed in this location over 5 times, and are always pleased with the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the rooms. David and Karrah are extremely helpful, and ensure that our stay is pleasant. The restaurant attached is phenomenal, and we look forward the the breakfast every morning.
We highly recommend the Holiday Inn for anyone looking for a wedding venue. We had our wedding here in December, the staff was highly friendly, professional, and the services were superior. Graffiti’s Italian Eatery led by chief Steven at the Holiday Inn catered our wedding dinner, everything was perfect. The staff made all the effort to creat a comfortable atmosphere during the event and the stay...
We had a full block of rooms here for our wedding in the area and we were very pleased with the service and cleanliness of the hotel. There are so many options for food, shopping, and entertainment in the area as well. The biggest highlight was Dave at reception. Holiday Inn & Suites is lucky to have this guy as part of their team. He continued to go above and beyond for our friends and family to...
Loved the hotel, the location, the breakfast! ( though they could have more fruit). It has kitchen, laundry room and pool, so very family oriented. I went with my 3 kids and we had a great time. The staff is also very kind and friendly.
Wonderful staff, and nice amenities. Only wish it had cheaper breakfast options for adults, but at least kids eat free. Grafittis was an excellent place to eat, the staff were awesome. My little one loved the cooks. Great potion sizes, and fresh homemade food.

The sum of all the reviews I read were a better reflection of the experience than I expected. The hotel was overall good. It provided everything I could gave expected for the price and location. Nothing exceptional from the hospitality side of the overnight team, bit a true sense of hospitality rang loud and clear from any and every interaction of the day time staff and management, from email correspondence...
Great, spacious room and good, thick mattresses, but the reception staff could be a little warmer. The bathroom could be cleaner, and hot and cold water was switched. You only get the 10% off breakfast if you ask reception for a voucher beforehand. Parking is free all weekend at the World Exchange Plaza opposite the hotel (otherwise the hotel takes $20/night). Overall, still a good place to stay at...
Kinda like a one bedroom away from home. No luxury here, but it is clean, quiet, spacious, and right downtown. Walking distance to everything and great transit access.
Nice hotel, great location. Staff are very courteous and attentive. The rooms are spacious and nice but they definitely show their age. The rooms with balconies are horribly loud all night (since they face directly onto the road) so I would avoid them if possible. The doors to the balcony block out no sound from the busses that seem to run all night long. The Cafe downstairs is nice enough, good...
Older hotel, not fancy but clean and the room was ready and stocked with the necessary items for a short stay. Our room had no refrigerator (some rooms do have them but not all). Staff very accommodating and friendly. Disappointing that the very nice restaurant /cafe has excellent food and atmosphere but only does breakfast and lunch and closes at 2:00 pm. It was very central and within walking...

Our favourite hotel in Ottawa. Stayed in a couple different rooms, all are modern and bright/fresh. Staff are accommodating, attentive, and thoughtful. Definitely recommend checking out the restaurant for dinner or buffet breakfast. Perfect for a staycation, looking forward to coming back :)
Boutique like feel - Recommended hotel! Very spacious and comfortable. Very modern features and technology. Lots of lighting and charging areas. Service was great. Very quiet. Lots of amenities. Underground parking. Staff went out of their way to make our son feel welcomed and special by doing something in the room for him. Staff are also very helpful and kind. Great location.
I really enjoy the rooms in this hotel. The decor is certainly cool. It's very clean with a tiny amount of wear and tear. Many thoughtful details are found I the room. My only comment that isn't stellar has to do with the breakfast buffet. It was a underwhelming in that the hot foods weren't very hot. The tables could use placemats and salt and pepper.
We stayed in the king prestige room. Perhaps the most comfortable hotel experience we’ve had. Beds were amazing - like a cloud. Room amenities - water carafes beside the bed, robes, ironing board, automatic blinds, great tea and coffee, glassware and lots of bath and body care added up to a very relaxing stay. Whoever planned these rooms actually thought about hospitality and comfort and usefulness...
This hotel is luxurious, and is super-modern. It has a very high level of service from everyone who you deal with. Every evening there was a turn-down service and we got left water and herbal tea. The location is good and within a five-minute walk there are several coffee shops and a large shopping mall. We had a room with blinds that went up electronically. There is a good espresso machine in...

Stayed here for 1 night. I really enjoyed my stay the only negative thing would be that the main curtain didnt fully close, so there was a big gap of light coming in in the morning. The curtains are controled by a switch on the wall, and it would automaticly stop even tho there was still a bit of the window to cover. Except that everything else wass very good, rooms are big and clean, spacious and...
Excellent hotel experience overall, would stay here again next time without question. Only downside is getting in/out as the entrance is located off Boul du Casino and is a one-way exit, which means you either have to do a u-turn or route yourself around the block. Aside from that the hotel is super modern with plenty of space in the king room with sofa bed. Good views overall to see the surrounding...
I was pleasantly surprised by my room, it's very beautiful, clean and well maintained. I can't comment too much on location as it's my first day. Service is lovely overall. However, I'm an English speaker and I did experience some slight attitide for not speaking French. Still recommend this hotel.

We had a wonderful experience at the Lord Elgin for our wedding and related block booking. Staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and most importantly kind and patient. We felt comfortable and well taken care of and the hotel itself is gorgeous. The hotel restaurant is also stellar, be sure to grab lunch or dinner at least once - you won't regret it!
Great location, good room with very comfy beds. Service very good. The corridor carpets are in need of replacing but they were in the process of dealing with this whilst we were there. Can't really fault it and a very nice hotel to stay in.
I loved this hotel. The bed was comfortable, the staff was pleasant, and the breakfast was tasty. The valet parking is chaotic. Twice, I had to drive on the sidewalk to get through the jam at the front door. Also, the A/C blew over the bed and was too drafty. It was either too high, even at the lowest setting, or we had to turn it off, leaving us a bit warm. I loved the old world feel of the place...
We spent two nights at the Lord Elgin Hotel. The room was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed, spacious bathroom and very good room darkening curtains. I was also pleased at how quiet the room was. The doormen were all very accommodating and gave us some great recommendations on places to eat and were knowledgeable about the area. Thanks for a wonderful stay
We had an incredible first stay at the Lord Elgin Hotel! The room was fantastic. We rented the Churchill Suite for our wedding. It was a fantastic room for us because it had a full and well-stocked kitchen (napkins, plates, cutlery, serving utensils), a living and dining space, and an additional bathroom, making it a great space for hosting family and friends. The bed was comfortable and the room...
Stayed 2 nights with my wife and kids and everyone was happy and comfortable with our room. The pool especially was a very nice temperature, there was a hot tub as well. We were close public parking so we did not use the valet. The staff were exceptional regardless. Close to everything and the park view was beautiful.

Hi there, maybe I’m a little ahead of myself here. It’s just that I got exceptional service. I don’t usually name the service person, but her name is Nuala and she was exceptional. Over the top I must say. I had had something that was going on with my mother who is suffering from some illness that affects her memory and cognitive skills. I can’t believe how pleased I was with the responses and care...
We recently stayed at the Hampton Inn by Hilton Ottawa and overall had a pleasant experience. The room was spacious and well-suited for our family of four, with two comfortable beds and plenty of room to move around. The hotel’s location is a major plus — conveniently close to the highway, shopping areas, and just a 15-minute drive to downtown Ottawa. We visited during the tulip festival. However...
The room was great. good space for a family of 4, 2 comfortable beds. Great location close to highway and shopping and 15 minutes drive to city center. However the breakfast area is very undersized for the number of guests. It’s very crowded all the time with limited seating. The breakfast choices are very limited too. For 3 days during a very busy long weekend one of the elevators was out of service...
Welcomed for being a basic Hilton Honors member with sincerity for the first time. Front desk staff super friendly, texts confirming stay was going well multiple times. Breakfast and staff amazing. It is a surprisingly good place to stay. The reception is very warm welcoming, our room key was prepared in advance and the check in is very quick. The room (the suite) is very big, clean and with all kinds of amenities. The only thing one may concern is that the room decoration is a little old, however not a problem at all.
Great rooms, very clean. The man behind the counter was odd and refused to extend our checkout time. Other than that it was perfect.
When you book an independent motel, you aren't booking a big chain, recognize the difference and you will be very happy. Stayed for a few days in one of the suites, little dated but roomy, well maintained. Every suite has a little covered patio area. Didn't try the pool but it looked clean.
I like the layout I like the ease at which I could change my reservation midday and I like that I was able to do a cash deposit after my return visit that was very convenient for me
The rooms, are not bad, but some the employees are rude, I had made reservations a week in advance, only to find out they had given away my room, and when I tried to get some answers they hung up on me.
Very clean motel and modern and the service is great me and my hubby as been going here for a good 15 years ..and it has a nice swimming pool too.

Was not a 5 star as it isn't one. However despite my immediate impression upon the first 3 mins of being on the property, I almost left. The owner showed me the room, the room did not match the exterior. Clean, newly renovated, really nice room. Pleasantly surprised! Room was comfy and clean. Staff was super helpful and friendly. Outside needs curb appeal but a cost friendly motel for downtown.
not bad, I was pretty ok with the place, room 118, ground level, clean room, good hot water in the shower, stayed there over the family day long weekend, close to the market for a good walk. Breakfast was good, coffee was hot, parking was tight, a lot of snow so I get it. yeah I would stay there again.
It was a clean place to sleep. The breakfast was simple but starchy. The best shawarma place is supposed to be across the street from it but I wasn't able to try it out. It is also really close to the core Parliament area especially if you need to be somewhere near Sussex drive.
It was a very comfortable stay at Econo Lodge. The room was super clean with all the basic things included. Speaking about location, it's in the heart of the downtown making it easy for any commute. Poor maintenance, the Wi-Fi signal barely works, never hot water, and the staff are less than proffesional. We stayed here because, knowing Ottawa quite well, we wanted the ease of a downtown location. The "Northern" room had a bathroom en-suite which we really wanted - not all the rooms do.
