Ocean Island Inn Backpackers Suites - Hostel
Victoria, 791 Pandora Ave 🧭 Map
Stayed here solo for the Victoria Marathon in October. The micro double room I booked was "micro" as advertised! It was clean and comfortable. The sink was handy and the fridge kept my marathon hydration cold. Shared bathrooms were plentiful and clean, no competition at all any time of the day. A funky pub and dining room to enjoy my free breakfast dinner and beer. You do pay a small price though...
Stayed here with our 14 months old son in a private bedroom and bathroom and it was great. Staff were friendly and set up a crib in our room. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with lots of variety. Great location downtown. Love staying here.
Such a great classic hostel. Large but friendly. Your payment gets you breakfast (very simple but passable), dinner !? (didn't try it but so cool; before 8pm), and a free drink at the bar downstairs everyday. Wow. Free locks and towels w/ deposit. Solid beds. Clean. Each room has only four beds! Lots of bathrooms. Safest feeling hostel I've maybe ever stayed in. 24 hr desk. WiFi works everywhere, which...
I'm a solo lady in her 50s and requested a room on the ground floor, which they reserved for me. It was near a bathroom with a shower cabinet, perfect. I booked a small double room and it overlooked a wall but no matter. The walls were bare, could use a local artist's paintbrush? Staff were checking regularly to make sure the bathrooms were clean. Bring your own towel and washcloth or rent from the...
I am a senior traveler, 70 years old (!), so I wasn't sure at first about staying at a hostel, but I was pleasantly surprised at the welcome at the front desk, the small but clean rooms, even with a small refrigerator, and the free breakfast, which was much better than most I've had. We only enjoyed one supper (also free!) as we left early the next day, but it was delicious. The location is central...
I liked this place as it's cheaper than other hostels but clean and well equipped. You get free breakfast, dinner and a beer each evening that makes catering easy. The staff are friendly and it's easy to meet other travellers. The only downside is traffic noise from the street outside.

Good welcome. Room very clean and tidy and spacious. Breakfast very good. All facilities you would require and easy walk to most places of interest in city.
Super welcoming and accommodating! Would definitely recommend and love to come back!
Superb customer service
We had a lovely stay. The property is beautiful it was like stepping back in time. Staff are amazing can’t do enough for you. Your stay here includes breakfast we are vegetarian and also do not eat eggs this was accommodated for with no issues. We were also leaving before breakfast time on our final day so they arranged for a to go breakfast for us which was so nice of them...
Absolutely will stay here again when next in Victoria. Absolutely charming. Wonderful breakfast.
We had a great stay. Awesome breakfast, easy check in, walking distance to downtown Victoria,
Well maintained and managed accommodation.
I had a lovely stay here. I was concerned about travelling solo to a place marketed as a romantic getaway for couples, but I didn't feel out of place as a solo traveller. The owners were very friendly and helpful, but also respectful of privacy. The house has so much charm; you just can't get that level of uniqueness or service from a hotel. The breakfast was also very good, and multiple time options...

Robert Porter House Inn Bed & Breakfast
Victoria, 649 Superior Street, V8V 1V1 Victoria, Canada 🧭 Map
Close to the ferry and easy to walk to everything I wanted to get to. Lovely and comfortable room with a relaxing outdoor space in the midst of a container garden. The host was kind and helpful. A wonderful experience overall.
Great location. Parking is extra $ but secure and easy to get to. Bed is super comfortable! And the area quiet.
Place is a bit run down and not 100% clean. Side table, floors and toilet could have used a better wipe down. Kind of a strange set up with the huge tub in the middle of the room. Took forever to fill and then the jets didn’t work. Kitchen set up could be better by adding a counter and taking...
Both Cindy and Johnny were warm and welcoming! Our suite was goegeous with a large free standing tub. We came for snowmegeden 2022 and the paths were cleared by the time we woke up the morning which we greatly appreciated ! The location of this place is second to none its a 3 mim walk to the heart of the waterfront. Great for tourists !
We had great experience here. My suite is Hemingway, it is very big and has everything. The location of this Inn is perfect. Definitely will come back again! Highly recommended!
Maclure Suite-3.5/4
Beautiful beautiful spot. Aspects of this amazing place are 5 Star all day long. Could be. Should be 5 star. This place has it all. Location. Gracious hosts. On site management. Character. Charm. Space. Fire places in almost every room ad an amazing ambiance. The dining room and kitchen are grand. The ceilings are high. The lighting is good. The newly renovated bathrooms...
We stayed in the James Bay Suite which was spacious and lovely. Breakfasts were very good. Hosts were kind and attentive. Proximity to downtown for exploring was ideal.

Great location near Fisherman’s Wharf. Easy short walk to downtown. Exceptional breakfast
Excellent staff! They are all efficient and helpful and always cheerful. Parking at and around the property is challenging; I would definitely stay here if travelling without a vehicle as it’s convenient to downtown but in a quiet and peaceful neighbourhood. But parking a car in the James Bay Area is a hassle.
Very warm welcome, beautifully decorated turn of the century house and room. Super comfy bed!
The decor and atmosphere of the place was wonderful and unique, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and was made into a truly memorable experience by the staff. Super excited to come back one day!
The staff is exceptionally friendly and hospitable who gave great suggestions and served an incredible breakfast each morning. The house is a beautiful old home with lovely plants on the deck where we had breakfast each morning. The dining room is also lovely. Marketa’s is convenient to all the downtown sites and port. We had a wonderful 4-day stay at Marketa’s.
Great Staff, Amazing Location
Great staff and amazing location, very close to the Victoria waterfront. We enjoyed breakfast at the house every morning and were happy to be a quick walk from everything we wanted to enjoy in Victoria.

Red Lion Inn and Suites
Victoria, 3366 Douglas St 🧭 Map
We enjoyed the convenience of of the layout and utilities as well as the large TV.
This hotel is a great place to stay!!! I love how affordable it is, and the rooms are not bad. The service is always fantastic.
The rooms could maybe have more soundproofing, since people can be heard clearly in the hallways, leaving rooms etc lol. Maybe the blankets could be cozier or extras would be nice :)
Otherwise it’s a great place to stay! The location can’t be beat. Thanks Red Lion! :D
Great stay at Red Lion Inn and Suits. The room was big and had all the amenities we needed. The bathroom was clean and tidy. It has a pool on the ground floor, so we were able to play in the pool for a bit. But mind you, this is not very close to the downtown and you will have take a bus ( enough buses running frequently to Victoria downtown and to other locations).
Everything was great and I would...
The five stars is for the smiling staff who excel in positive customer service. It is not the newest hotel in Victoria and you’re not going to get an ocean view, but you will get great Victoria accommodation. There are two large malls if you want to dine nearby or have forgotten to pack something. If you are green minded and want to walk or take transit, there are plenty of options around the hotel...
Unfortunately I found that the housekeeping wasn't what I would have liked. Corners weren't cleaned and it looked as if someone had been sitting on one of the beds. But other than that, decently clean. The fire door by my room would only close if you pulled it closed, so was always open, so much for stopping the flames from spreading. The good point was the well worn pool. It was a nice temperature...
Hotel is ok for the price. Everything was clean. What sets this property apart from others is that front desk staff are exceptionally courteous and beyond-the-call personable. Manager Chris couldn’t do enough to be helpful; personable and friendly. Good experience. It’s a little out of the city center, but there is good bus service to city center and a taxi is about $15 Canadian.

Cherry Tree Inn Victoria
Victoria, 4879 Cherry Tree Bend 🧭 Map
The rooms are not palatial, but they are clean, secure, and well kept. This is a budget motel, so if you want chocolate swans on your pillow and staff in Armani, you're in the wrong place.
The location of this little traveler motel, however, can't be any better - it's halfway down the Saanich Peninsula - equidistant from downtown Victoria as well as the ferries to the Gulfs and Mainland.
They ALLOW...
Pros: Staff were friendly and helpful. The room/sheets/towels/bathroom were all clean. Check in was convenient. Parking was convenient. Price was on the affordable end.
Cons: Room smelled like cigarette smoke. It was stark and the walls need repainting. The bed was hard. The shower was tiny. It was not soundproof; we could clearly hear conversations in the nearby rooms and everything going on outside...
Stayed here because the price was way cheaper than the main stream hotels. You get what you pay for.
It's on the highway entering Victoria. Bus stop is a 5 min walk and a 20 min ride to downtown. Bus also goes to airport and ferry.
Front staff were lovely. Check in was super easy, barely an inconvenience.
The room itself was clean....BUT...it looks like your eccentric relative's place. The closet...
A simple, straightforward motel. Room was nothing fancy, but it was very clean and tidy. Bathroom was updated with nice tile work, and again, spotless. For the price, this is solid little motel, especially given its proximity to Victoria.
We have been guests here for a week now, including our dog. Great staff, nice rooms. Parking is good. Very quiet, beautiful well kept landscape. The manager was very friendly and showed great hospitality. She made sure we had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend the Cherry Tree Inn to everyone.
Clean. Safe. Friendly, Inexpensive. Just what I needed. To be clear this not a 5 star hotel ☺ but this is excellent value.

Our family have been blessed and gifted too have been left to live our lives and privacy. To the staff thank you very much, we apologize for not being more cooperative. C& C
Booked last minute here as it was the only place that had rooms open. Victoria is expensive and if you are looking for somewhere to stay on a budget, this place will do for a night. Nothing fancy, but clean enough. We arrived earlier than expected and they were kind enough to check us in early. Walking distance from the harbor area. It was quiet at night.
We were looking for cheap overnight accommodation without extras. Found it. Yes it's dated, the cupboards and floor coverings are old but the room was spacious, the bed (plus stove and fridge new) and it was clean. The locals friendly.

Friendly, lovely breakfast, beautiful home, and neighborhood.
As always Sylvia and Russ provide an inviting and delightful environment. Breakfast is exquisite. The scenery and surroundings are a gift from God. We will be back
My husband and I have been to Fairholme Manor five or six time over the last 17 years (between 4-7 nights) and we always and I mean always feel welcome when we arrive. Sylvia and Ross are the best!!
My husband and I have stayed in every room/suite except the French Country Garden and each one is beautifully decorated and beds are comfortable.
The location is great. They are next to the Government...
From the moment we booked with a short note on our dietary questions, we received a call back thanking us for booking and asking how they could prepare for our stay. The room was amazing with many fine touches and abundant in comfort. The Inn and the grounds are delightful and private, easy to park and is as refreshing as having a second home with no hassles of hotel parking. The breakfast was very...
I needed a room in Victoria and impulsively booked Fairholme, thinking it was an average B&B. Upon arrival it became clear that Fairholme Manor was something truly special and that I'd lucked out in a big way. Sylvia greeted me and showed me the room - the Grand Olympic Suite, no less - and while I tried to pick my jaw up from the floor she showed me the sun room, balcony, garden...all stunning. Beautifully...
Just returned from a stay at Fairholme for our wedding. What a dream! Sylvia and her whole team are so, so wonderful. I kept saying to Sylvia that I felt like I had a fairy godmother at my wedding. She took care of so many details and kept reassuring me, my family and friends that she had it all under control, and boy did she ever!! The Manor is breath taking! The rooms are like a dream, and...

Lovely interior to property. Beautiful century home with a lot of nice old features. Very nice decor. Comfortable bed and pillows. Helpful and friendly staff. Good guest kitchen downstairs to store refrigerated or frozen items.
It's very charming and unique. Kind of like a B&B but more private. Can't beat the backyard being the Castle! It's a unique experience but not a typical hotel FYI.
Lovely old house, if old fashioned charm is what you're looking for this place is perfect. Very clean, everything is updated as in state of the art showers and big comfy bed. Rooms are small but the common area is large and welcoming. Bring your own food as there is a kitchen for your use
We had a wonderful stay. We had the master suit and it had its own little kitchen so we’re able to bring home our leftovers from all the yummy restaurants we ate at. We loved sitting in the common room after our walk downtown. The view is breathtaking and it was nice and quiet.
Anyone complaining about the water temperature never grew up in a house with many people, sometimes you need to wait for it...
Excellent area, with a close up view of the castle, lit up at night. Incredible stay.
I stayed two nights in March 2023. Great homey B'n'B. Helpful and friendly staff. Super clean establishment! Downtown is in walking distance (15min walk). Quite and historic neighbourhood with quite some huge sequoia trees. Highly recommended.

Victoria, 308 Catherine St 🧭 Map
We went there for lunch. First the view is amazing and second service was praiseworthy. There was just 2 people to attend the whole floor, which was packed and I only realized that when we were leaving. They attended us immediately when we came in, food service was super quick, checked with us twice. And food was good too. I liked the simplicity and taste of it.
Rated best pub in town. Outstanding location and always good food. They prepare a lot foods themselves like the smoke albacore tuna which is excellent. Many of their beers are very good and the ginger ale they make themselves is the best I've ever had and I've had a lot, try it. If you like ginger you'll be blown away. In a busy place service is a challenge, so best if you're not wanting to eat and...
I normally come here for dinners or happy hour as this place has a great atmosphere and pool tables to enjoy with friends. I went here for brunch alone and I enjoyed my view and the food I ate. However, the service was not up to its usual standard for me. I had a server who started off by grabbing me tea and helping me order my food which was great! But after the tea arrived, she did not check in ask...
Highlights: We stayed in their charming Victorian house for two nights and loved it. Great location and comfortable bed. We’d stay here again.
Low points: Although the beer was good, the food and service in the restaurant was mediocre at best. We ended up eating elsewhere for most of our visit. (Note: we had a much better experience at a different restaurant within walking distance from here).
Food was excellent, but our server seemed not all with it. When asked about the starter that was ordered she said it was on its way... it never appeared. When trying to get the server's attention (on multiple occasions as she did not visit or table too often), she just walked right by. This was also apparent with other tables in her section. Nice woman, but perhaps not quite suited for serving in a...
I had a great two-night stay in the Heritage House. The staff were all accommodating and the room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. I do wish there had been a mini fridge but it was a very minor inconvenience. The complementary breakfast in the brewpub is a fantastic value. If you're staying in Victoria and don't need to be right downtown I highly recommend Spinnakers!

The absolute best place I've ever stayed. Anyone going to colwood or quite anywhere on Vancouver island should definitely think about staying here. The host is an absolute delight, her breakfast is spot on. If I could rate this higher than 5 stars, I absolutely would.
