Children up to and including 4 years old stay for free when using an existing bed.
People no matter the age stay for € 20 per person per night when using an available extra bed.

Definitely worth it!
ok, I can not compare with other hotels in Amberg as we stayed only 2 nights, and wanted to experience not usual hotel, but hotel in ex-prison; and I can say - as long as you interested in history, this place might be for you! As advice: read a bit before your stay or watch some videos about the place.
I was just a bit disappointed, because we didn't get Themenszimmer even when we booked 5 weeks in advance...
Facilities in our room were in a good condition. Reception administrator and cleaning personal = all friendly, left only positive memories.

One the most strange hotel I've ever been! It's an old prison which has been completely renovated and transformed into a bed and breakfast. There are many kinds of room, most of them have been obtained from the old prison cells, so they are small and ideal for one or two people, but there are also bigger rooms, like the one I was, which was the prison director room and it's simple stunning. The staff is friendly and kind, dressed with police uniform to keep the prison theme, the place is amazing and there are many rooms to explore for take a picture. My room was wonderful but I can't give 5 stars because the problem with the shower outlet which was a bit annoying. Anyway I had a wonderful stay and the staff provided me extra towels to dry the bathroom. Nice continental breakfast, with a lot of fresh food. Probably the best hotel in Amberg.

We only stayed for one night so not a true impression of the Hotel. Our room had a bed surrounded with steel bars and steep steps up to the bed. I know its an old prison but for someone with mobility issues you are going to have a problem. The town is a nice place to visit for one night. The hotel has no parking of its own but there is a car park very close by.

Nice hotel within old town Amberg where you can walk to everything. Convenient parking garage behind hotel. You can purchase a parking pass for 10 euro for the duration of your stay. Staff is friendly. The optional breakfast buffet for purchase each day is perfect with a nice variety for its smaller size. The prison suite we stayed in was spacious and clean. We will be sure to stay here again when visiting Amberg in the future.

Its a very original and unique place, at the heart of the city. Bit unusual feeling that rooms are former prison cages..

This place is amazing. It really was once a jail, and you stay in "cells", not rooms, escorted there by a cheerful "guard" in uniform, who will tell you all about the history of the place and, if you like, show you the torture chamber. The "cells" are small, naturally, but beautifully fitted out with great attention to detail. The beds were very comfortable, and it's right near the centre of the old town in picturesque Amberg. A must try experience. Highly recommended!

Have just spent a night under lock and key together with my sister and brother-in-law, who were visiting from Australia. Hotel Fronfeste has only been open for six months and is still expanding. The attention to detail is extraordinary, the cells manage to be elegant, comfortable, tasteful and just a tiny bit creepy all at once. A place with real history, restored with class and imagination. Our bicycles got their own cell beneath the 13th-century powder tower. Friendly staff, good breakfast (comes complete with a Cluedo-style crime game that you can play on your paper placemat), great location, very reasonable price. Highly recommended!

We were with an old motorcycle sidecar on the trip. Fortunately, had recommended to us in Amberg someone this is a great Hotel Fronfeste.
It really is a very, very nice Hotel. From the owners lovingly, and in Detail, with many, many ideas restored ... and of course with a lot of commitment.
Our stay was wonderful, the rooms perfect and very well furnished.
The welcome was warm and friendly and the tour through the historic buildings is an experience.
We will definitely be back again - 100% recommended.

Our "rest in prison" was sensational. The staff was always friendly and very knowledgeable. The rooms were very clean and everything has been restored with attention to Detail. To stay even behind Swedish curtains a very special Highlight for us. A rich buffet Breakfast in a pleasant ambience prepared us with the basis, strengthened to start the day. We recommend the Hotel Fronfeste the next Amberg visit.
